  • Koyaanisqatsi's longest and arguable best piece. I augmented the films original audio with the track of the same name from the 1998 re-recording. I present to you now, 'The Grid'.

4:38 Something so pure and authentic about her face. When she was born television didn't even exist and cars moved much slower. Now she is surrounded by cameras, lights, and the fast pace life of a city.
No doubt deceased by now, but immortalized in this brief clip.

I first I saw Koyanisqatsi, that was around 10 years ago, I was completely out of breath after that sequence. It was like I was hit by a truck. I cannot imagine what 1982 audiences thought of it.

if aliens wanted to know about us. who we are. Why we are. This is the film. This is the human imprint we have left on our planet, and our universe. If anything, this would instantly describe the human race to any extraterrestrials out there. I'm sure their world isn't too much different. But who knows?

N66511 Possibly there was an extrajudicial negotiation. According to wikipedia: "A few days after its release, Italian director Stefano Salvati accused Madonna's Warner Bros. Records imprint Maverick Records for plagiarizing the concept of a music video he directed for Biagio Antonacci's 1994 single "Non è Mai Stato Subito". According to Salvati, copies of his videos were submitted to Maverick before the "Ray of Light" video was shot and requested it to be pulled from distribution. Both videos featured the respective singers performing at regular speed against a backdrop of high-speed images. However, he did not sue the singer or her companies" (Ray of Light (song) #Music video)
