VS♀️ OZtrail Blackout Stretcher Tent (Motorbike camping)

- I recently purchased an OZtrail stretcher tent for my upcoming trip to Tassie and I am seriously so impressed. Great quality, fully blacked out when fly is on, comfortable, easy and quick to set up, and ideal in both cold and warm weather. It keeps the warmth in when the fly is on, but is super breezy with the 3 large doors during the hotter months. I bought it from BCF for $299 - members price ($399 for full price). It really is a great tent... the only questionable aspect is its weight and size if you are wanting to use it for motorbike camping... BUT! I also show how I secure it to my Vulcan without any issues at all.

That is a collection of tents you have there. I see why you like the Denali. I also see why you like that stretcher tent. Easy setup, off the ground, shade, works as a chair to....super nice!
I just need to buy another 2 so I have one for each night of the week haha 😁 I really do love the Denali. Will definitely keep using that for longer stays. The stretcher tent will be great for those travelling camping trips or one nighters I reckon.
Comfortable wins every time for me Stacey. Safe Travels
Sometimes that means getting a hotel room right? 😁
@@TheVSChick hahha or a cabin. I'm 50 now hee hee
Haha I must admit, that sounds a lot easier 😅
Great to see you and another great video :) Thank you for the tour of your tents. Very informative. Great to see the dogs having a good time as well. Good luck at the rally and stay safe :)
Thanks Ian 🙂 It was actually pretty fun setting them all up again. I should have invited my mates for an impromptu camping session though! Missed opportunity lol. The doggos definitely have been keen for it haha! (Vid on the rally coming soon). 🙂 Ride safe!!
YEA!! goodto see you again. That tent is amazing to set up. My problem is it sticks out farther than your side bags. my 2 person tent is perfect size on my Rebel. The Roc straps are the greatest thing since white bread. Those bungee cords were the worst freaking hassle to load anything. I do admit it's a pain setting up and taking down a conventional tent everyday, but being on a moto camp i have all the time in the world. I love your doggy's, cute little pups. Anyway, looking forward to seeing your rally video's Be Safe.
Heeeyyyy!!! 😁👋 It's been a little while since I've uploaded a vid lol. Oops! The stretcher tent is definitely on the larger scale but it's not too bad on the Vulcan. Totally agree with it being too big for the rebel though. Isn't camping just the best!? I love it. Such good fun. And I love that everyone set up is different. Whatever works is good 👍 I hate those bungee cords too haha Aight thanks for watching! Rally vid coming soon! Right safe!
You definitely got your camping sorted, Stacey. At the start I was wondering how you set it on the bike, I see clearly now. No lane filtering for you with the tent loaded. You're really getting into the Rallies, that awesome. Looking forward to your vid on that. Ride well. Cheers
It's seriously massive isn't it haha! I was worried it would feel different when riding but can't tell at all.... definitely no lane filtering though haha! I've done 2 rallies now 😁😁😁 I'm even doing a poker run in about a month which I'm really looking forward to. I'll do a vid on that one too. 🤪 Ride safe!!
@@TheVSChick Awesome. Ride well
I've only been trough one tent so far saw your video and ordered one like yours very helpful video
Ooo awesome! You've made a great decision. 👍
It sure looks like you have your camping gear sorted. I really like the awning on your new tent. It provides a place to get out of the rain and still cook or get some fresh air.
Certainly getting there. I'm looking forward to testing it all out properly soon. I'm doing a 5 night poker run in about a month. It will be an awesome practice for Tassie 😁
Wow all those tents go you. comfort will be so important on your big trip down here. loved the outro bloody dog 😎👍
Sooo many tents! 😆 I'm really hoping the stretcher tent will just make the whole trip waaay easier and comfier. A couple of nights on the ground crawling into a tent is fine but everyday for a month... gotta have something that won't kill my back!!
Frikkin Pablo...Every time I turned my back he was lining up for a wee on one of the tents haha
I have spent the last 2 years going to rallies and touring around on the dl1050 using the denali kakadu and an air bed, got really sick of getting off the ground on our tassy trip back in feb. Decided to try the stretcher tent with a black wolf mega deluxe self inflater at this weekends ruptured budgie rally, sooo much better being able to sit up and not being on the ground. It is alot of weight to be carrying around especially cause I already carry a fridge over the pillion seat.
Yeah I was worried about the extra weight with the stretcher tent, but the bike handles it fine. Waaaayyyy better than being on the ground. Love it.
Hi Stacey. Just found you and enjoying your videos. (Wife and i now going through your play list .) We both retired now so have time to enjoy videos like yours (it gets us out 😂) respect and thank you. Ride safe. Old dave from the uk .ps we Don't have a channel. Just learning to work this computer thing 😂.
Hi Dave!! I'm glad you and your wife found the channel. 🙂 Do you both ride?? I think there's nothing better than getting on the bike and going for a cruise. It's the best. Actually... I think retirement would be pretty enjoyable too! Haha
@@TheVSChick no riding now .stuck in 4 wheel box (car) sadly
Oh thats unfortunate. I bet you miss it
@@TheVSChick we've accepted it now .Two oldies now 😆
A good review. I think I’d like one but as I have a huge van with a cabin in it and two tents, one new, never opened can I really even consider it?
Your review made me want one though 😅
Super helpful video - thank you
No worries at all 🙂 Happy camping!
I liked the look of the Denali tent. I have a 3 person hiking tent and I am looking to downsizing to reduce size and weight being packed on my bike.
The Denali is definitely a great tent. Great quality and heaps of space in there. Packs down super small. I especially like it for the larger openings... heaps easier to get in and out of. I'll be going between the Denali and the stretcher tent I reckon.
12:28 "Don't even wee on that!" hehe
Take care, ride safe.
He's a cheeky lil doggo. Every time I turned around, he'd line up to wee on one of the tents lol. Kept me on my toes!
mate i feel ya pain ive been through so many tents swags hammocks you name it gotta try these things to find that perfect setup great vid mate ride safe
Oooo I haven't bought myself a hammock yet. Might need to add that to the list!? Haha!
@@TheVSChick works good when there’s trees to tie it too hehe useless on the beach
Haha true true
I bought one, set it up in the garage, still love the wife and kids, but pretty much want to sleep in it every night.
Omg that it's the funniest comment ever! Haha Love it.
Great setup. Is it rain resistant? How does it stand in windy conditions? Cheers
Nice review.
Great to be off the ground.
Have you had it out in much rain? How does it go in the rain?
Thanks for watching 🙂 I'd recommend setting it up and spraying it lightly with the hose before your first use to help with water proofing. I haven't had any leaks... and it was absolutely bucketing down so that's a pretty good sign! 👍
@@TheVSChick thanks!
Good vid - wondering how is the condensation when the fly is on?
Yeah there's a little condensation... but there's a bit of space between the tent and the fly so it doesn't cause too much of a hassle. Thanks for watching 🙂
it takes a while to get it right - but worth it when you get it right.
Exactly! 😊 Takes a lot of money too 😬🫣
😊
Looks ideal, have you tested this in a heavy downpour yet, any leaks? Still use it?
It's great! We just got back from a month on the road and we got hit with a massive storm. It had a few very small leaks along the seam but kept the inside 97% dry. My advice is to just make sure you have the end rope really tight (at the lower end of the tent). We didn't have it quite tight enough and the water pooled (still didn't leak though).
@@TheVSChick thks for the reply. 👍
Hi from Sweden, always enjoy your vids, KVS owner myself, love modding it, like the tent , was wondering if you have a link for those straps please?
Cheers
Hello over there!! Thanks so much for watching and for the lovely feedback.
Here's the link to the rokstraps... however you might be able to find some a little closer to Sweden to save on postage?
www.rokstrapsaustralia.com.au/
I made a vid a while back on the rokstraps if you want to check it out too. 🙂 Ride safe!
th-cam.com/video/pRwzGIB2Vr4/w-d-xo.html
How does it hold up in the rain? Do you use a mattress/mat with it?
Really well actually. Just make sure you pull that rope at the bottom of the tent really tight so the water runs off. I took it on a 7000km trip to Tassie and had no issues at all. Great stretcher tent. And yep! I use a thin inflatable mattress in it. Works a treat.
How do they hold up it wet weather or cold nights and condensation issues
Wet weather is fine... just make sure you have the bottom guy rope pulled super tight. A little condensation but that's to be expected.
@@TheVSChick thanks i
Take some small bolts .
Can email which way your heard down I might be able catch up somewhere? And if it's this cold next year I might have rent some grass in your back yard lol not joking dam it's been COLD down here
Yeah for sure. Ill be catching up with a few people along the way. I sure hope it warns up a bit before Christmas though! I won't handle the cold! 🥶
We have been sub 0c here
Dammnnn! That's freezing!
I'll send you an email shortly ok
It is clearly dog approved 😆
Hehe He loved it hey! Need to hook him up with a helmet and goggles so he can come on a camping trip with us.
Probably not going to be doing a lot of filtering with tent strapped on.
Definitely not lol
No rebel rider
Not in this vid. Would have been awesome having another set of hands to set all the tents up though lol
