Genuinely surprised you never tested the TSR2 & TSR3. Two of the best drivers I have ever played. C-19 made titanium more expensive and carbon cheaper, Titleist chose the right route (full titanium) and crush everything…IMO.
Rick missing the TSR line is wild because I’d argue it’s probably their best driver line in years. A brand can’t change your opinion if you don’t test the drivers
I have the TSR3 driver so nice!
Would love a TSR3 review! At least a comparison to the GT when it comes out! Great work Rick!
As an Australian we love when companies launch at the start of our golf season.
I think releasing in September isn’t bad because you can go get fitted and since most companies have a 5-8 week lead time for a custom order you don’t lose part of the golf season waiting for the clubs to arrive
September is the start of southern hemisphere golf. Capitalise down south first.
Couple of the pro reviews I’ve read said a couple mph ball speed gain
Will you even review the GT drivers considering you never reviewed the TSR. They are the most played driver on tour and no review…..
The difference is Titleist and Ping are a 2-3 year cycle really taking their time to perfect the product instead of just pumping something out every January to sell product. The TSr and G430 still blow most of the other manufactures drivers away. GT will be no exception.
Yeah the fact they release irons one year then driver next is smart
after missing the TSR line completely, there's a real opportunity to show the titleist havers some love by comparing the TSR line up with the GT line up. loving the HIT channel content flowing
I own the TSR2 and can’t imagine a better driver… but leave it to Titleist 😮
Adams golf had a GT in their driver line up way back in the day. Early 2000’s.
I fly my Adam's GT 7.5° 400+
I absolutely love my tsr2
Rick is into the promotion of clubs so I can understand his position on clubs coming out every year. But TaylorMade and Callaway have turned their drivers and fairway woods into gimmicky, ugly, gaudy garbage IMO and will NEVER be considered classic like Titleist, Mizuno or Ping. I do give credit to TM on their new driver Qi10 with a classic black finish but I don’t trust they’ll stay with this design.
And the price is going to be obscene.
I just bought tsr3 . Love it. Never gamed titleist before. Im a believer now. I think its the nicest club they ever made. The gt3 doesn't look as sleek.
I want to see a Guy vs. Rick video, where you guys play a course under 7,000 yrds or from the white tees, Guy with TM Mini and Rick with Callaway Mini!!! No drivers!
I still think that TaylorMade and Callaway are very gimmicky. Titleist and Ping are genuine in what they say.
Callaway is somewhat gimmicky. Taylormade is all gimmick and marketing for sure. Jailbreak was such a great tech. My old Mavrik is faster than my current Qi10 for sure, and I can feel where the Mavrik strike is on the face. Taylormade carbon face feels like mush.
yeah they think crazy color faces and designs mean better changes i lvoe my titliest clubs way less gimicky. theyre like porsche they refine things rather than re invent them.
The Callaway’s AI smoke is the easiest driver I have hit in a long time, the g430 is up there as well. Nothing really gimmicky about it.
I play a TSI2 and it’s the best driver ive ever had by a mile, about 3 years in the bag now
The difference is Titleist and Ping are a 2-3 year cycle really taking their time to perfect the product instead of just pumping something out every January to sell product. The TSr and G430 still blow most of the other manufactures drivers away. GT will be no exception.
Mizuno had a GT 180 driver a few years ago
rick reviewed it 😂
I play a Titleist driver, but have always thought that if you release a driver every 2 years, that driver is going to be behind the competition for that second year.
No not the super driver ever….Wait till the new TSr Super duper 099 from Titleist in 2026…. Influencers are….you know what I means don’t you ?
Love my 917 had it from
Birth! Wouldn’t change it at all, best club in my bag
Still gaming my 71' spalding persimmon...carry hit 380-385
I feel like the Titleist drivers always fall under the radar compared to other brands like TaylorMade or Callaway. I see influencers and the like reviewing or showcasing those drivers from them even months after they're released, but it seems like people talk about the new Titleist drivers for like a day or two after they're announced and then move on to something else. But people will also go on and on about the latest Vokey or SC putter, it's just strange to me.
You obviously don’t watch many club fitters. They praise the tsr3 quite a bit
Titleist starts an early production. This way they do less expansion and retraction of the production line. They are already pumping so they give it to your pros for the marketing. The tour feedback never changes anything. But I agree with Rick the best time to release a golf club is the earlier in the season, not later. Anyway the largest problem with Titleist is the fact the factory has more saying than the engineers. If the engineers wants to do something, but the factory says no. That’s it for Titleist. For other brands who use the vendors, if one says no they go to other. But titleist owns the factory and I think it’s their biggest weakness. Even when the factory produces what’s inferior to the earlier generation, they can’t do a thing about it.
Rick Shields actually hasn't got any insights into modern equipment as he has become a caricature of himself.
Get me one of these, slap a Dragon Ball paint job on it and have me a DBZ GT driver
I played Cleveland for years, from the 90's (VAS+ 792) through the early 2010's (TA5 gunmetal)...then I did Ping G410 irons and Taylormade driver (M3-M5-Stealth-Stealth2)....now it is Callaway AI Smoke driver but the irons are Titleist T200. I went from a Stealth 4 rescue to a TSR 7 wood and am so happy. Because of the feel of that club, I will definitely give the new GT a look.
As also can not believe Rick did not test the TSR on the Chanel…. That line is so good.
I know Titleist has the TSR 2 wood but i would like to see a GT Mini Driver as well. I know this is a possible phase for these mini drivers, but some people would like to have one.
GT model name was previously used by Adams.
Hi Rick & Guy, thanks for another great show all good points on the new 😊 thanks for the news on the Titleist release
Rick the seems to a recurring theme on doing cleanup on the desktop. Today a stare up to the ceiling, hope nothing comes crashing down 😂
Do you think there will be a GTi followed by a GTr in the coming years?
GTO
I was never really a fan of titleist drivers but after they released the TS series they really have been coming out with some bangers.
I love the assumption that the GT has only changed slightly. I think Titleist has an ace up their sleeve with this one.
They do. And it's holding in all the money you fork over to them.
Like all the main brands they bring out clubs including drivers every year, two or three years. The tech is basically the same. The rules dictate the face can only be a certain thickness, in the case of titanium thinner gives more spring. It doesn't matter what new kit comes out they all have to conform. Extra distance achieved by a springy face is crap, the bigger manufacturers are probably on the limit now. The name probably will upset Porsche
For being involved in golf as long as you have, I am surprised you havent realized what brands do during launch to pretend the new driver is way better.
Tour players prefer (on average anyway) slightly more spin on a driver than your local fitter would set a normal guy up with. Spin = stability. Most want to hit fairways and realize a few yards isn't as beneficial as a fairway on tour where the rough is truly penalizing. So when they get to the "fitting" of the new stuff, they'll stick them in a lower lofted head than theyll actually end up playing. Lower loft = less spin and more ball speed. All the sudden relative to their gamer this new driver is faster with less spin. "Its amazing! The engineers really knocked it out of the park! 4 mph faster ball speed and 8 more yards will really help me" Then they cut the cameras and probably say hey now go build me one with more loft that spins 2400-2600 and all the "gains" disappear. This shits been happening for years.
And im not trying to say equipment hasnt gotten better because it has... But if everyone was picking up 4 mph every year like they want you to believe, the average ball speed on tour wouldve crept up to 190-200 mph. Instead its still low 170s, up from high 160s 10 years ago.
Justin Thomas switched to the TS3 immediately and played it until the TSR3 was released, but he still games a 915 5-wood with a Motore Speeder Tour (25.00 shaft!).
Whatever floats a boat. Losing 4 6 yards, but you feel super comfortable, then that's the key.
Thomas uses the TSR2 now. Swapped away from the 3.
He needs to change his swing coach.
If you already have a titleist TSI or a TSR driver You would have to be out of your mind to get a GT driver, For one or two steps more distance. JUST A THOUGHT !!!!!!!!
Release dates for Sept-Nov is for the holiday season. They know people are much more likely to spend money on a Christmas present than for just April.
I bet they release it in September cuz of two things. 1) thats when most people start their research on how to improve their bag. 2) the people that are interested have seen the drivers in the hands of the pros all summer. And maybe a pro wins with one. Immediate justification of the driver's legitimacy.
I think it's quite obvious why they do this actually. Instead of saying "We promise It's got the latest tech and will add distance." Titleist can say "it works for the pros and you've seen the proof". Quite genius in my opinion.
PXG black ops all the way, will never buy any driver for the next 10 years
WHAT???? You never reviewed the TSR???? WOW…such a great driver. It’s 2 years old and still competing well with the newest releases from other brands…
I have a TSR3 and love it. I think Titliest do a great job on product and marketing. I shy away from Taylormade because they seem obsessed with marketing and saturate with top player sponsorship. Callaway I just don't like their irons look,
If you want to be truly unbiased then you need to review Titleist along with everything else. Tsr3 is hands down better than 425 or stealth. I played them all them stayed tsr for last 2 years.
Baldo driver from Japan already using similar name of GT1 GT2 GT3
Still think TaylorMade and Callaway are king right now simply because there technology and variety of the club head is great
Got to swing the GT2, 10 yards longer than my qi10. Still sounds like titanium drive even though its not
Companies from all industries like to release products a few months before the holidays...it allows for marketing to maximize its brand awereness among consumer…also releasing in spring would line up too closely to “tax season” in the USA, a time of year when people are thinking about all the money they should have saved the previous fall/winter.
Callaway and TaylorMade will have an eye on Titliest, so next January will be a serious new launch season.
I'm having anxiety to the max over the tension in Guy's mic cable. #FreeTheCable
I feel they are coming out with the new driver in April too might be because it gives players enough time to play for regular consumers to see them, want them, and then put it on their Christmas list😂
I would think Titleist would release in September so guys would purchase GT for Christmas or with a Christmas Bonus.
I wish all brands would have a 2-3 year product window on equipment. You can’t really improve anything in a 12 month window cause when you break it down that R&D time is really only like 3-4 months tops. You still need time for prototypes, manufacturing changes and retooling, and marketing as well.
Guys do you think its the 1st day these guys have had it? They have been using/testing probably for the last 3 months behind closed doors, its not "new" to them so they are already fitted and know they "work"
5:00 having a final product vs shipping out a final product at scale are 2 drastically different stages
Not touching another driver unless it's 11K lol.
How do these guys not know the titliest drivers names 917 was a great club btw the ts was the shit one 915 most forgiving one ever made tsr got them back in game
Love my TSR3, heard the GT is a “drop in” upgrade with a little different sound, slightly more ball speed/distance, and little better dispersion/forgiveness.
There has been a driver called GT made by Adams golf, so this is nothing new. But I’m sure the rights to the name have been sold over the years.
I disagree that most golfers don't think of a club as a tool. Personally and most people I talk to about clubs, don't care what a club looks like as long as it is legal and it has great results.
Don’t forget, tour players literally travel with Titleist techs. They can have a driver built to their specs and on the range with very little effort. The brands make it really easy to get their products onto the course.
have the tsi and love it but can't wait to try the GT - do like titles how they have their two cycles and makes me feel they bring out a club cause its better rather than a yearly marketing release
used to hate the TM and Callaway used to bring out like 6 drivers a year - two releases
Taylormade Spider GT. Currently in the bag.
No GT1?
People nowadays aren't humble enough to say that they don't really need it.
Fila own 50% of Titleist and Titleist own Footjoy
I would have the reason theres a delay in from when the drivers are on tour to available in store is an operational one because it give them time to make sure they stocks so the consumer doesnt have a long wait after they place the order.
Guy would make a great auctioneer.
Cantlay changed and he was using a TSI
Im super excited for these clubs as I’m absolutely crushing every stick in my bag (Titleist) except my driver (TM). It’s a Stealth 2 Plus and although it’s certainly adequate, and gets me around the course just fine, it just doesn’t inspire the same confidence that my 3 wood does (TSR3). Anyone know when they normally release/launch new products?
September
Best ever until next release
Mizuno used the Gt name
Adams GT Driver
Adam’s had a GT line
Adams had a GT in the day.
Can’t understand a word he’s saying
Adams GT 363 and Adams GT Titanium
Thirteen dollars USD.. ebay.... for the pair
If you think about when Titleist release their drivers, the end of the season is probably when people are swinging their best…so, they are more likely to buy a product then because they hit it well…in the beginning of the season, most people aren’t comfortable with their swing, or are working on it, or still getting their swing stamina up…
lolol ppl play golf year round in many areas of the world
Not in that many, and not where a lot of the $$$$ is like the northeast of the US.
Funny we don't have a 'season' it's golf all year round in my part of paradise.
@@TheflyingkiwiRCand your country has the buying power in the market that is negligible.
Launching a driver in March gives the brand time to pick up some marketing steam for the season. The same is true of September for Christmas revenue.
I still game an M2. New drivers are all marketing. Shit aint flying farther bois. Save your money for a lesson.
I have a tsr3 and tested the gt3 and I hit the gt3 26 yards farther on average.
It's all a scam anyway.
A good player like Rick will do just fine with "the best driver of 2016".
These slight, yearly improvements only matter to elite pros that are trying to eke out every last drop of potential.
For most of us, any driver that's not broken, will do just fine.
Complete nonsense. Drivers have not really changed in 20 years
What an incredibly moronic thing to say serious or not
I have a Titleist 905T and currently play TSR3. As great as 905T was and still is, it’s not in the same universe as TSR3.
Just got a tsr3. What a beautiful club in every way. 😊@@justgettinby8260
