      @UKImmigrationLawGeek 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree. There have been quite a few cases with similar causes of action. I think even minute detaisl need to be recored. for example, in one of the cases, a Plaintiff stated that she wanted a bowl of fruit at every table. In a matter such as that one, I think it is prudent to state what type of fruit and how many of each item. There needs to be a "meeting of the minds."

    • @donnalynn2
      @donnalynn2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I don't believe anyone complained about the taste of the food, just the quantity. Sorry, but that little bowl could hold at most, 10 scrambled eggs. Why would you even have such a dish for them? It is a pitiful table. I had only 50 guests at my wedding and my buffet table was gorgeous.
      If I were a caterer today I would take pictures almost every time I brought food out. It would take no more than 30 seconds
      Your phone has the ability to store metadata on it so it would have the time saved right on the pictures internal information. There are things you can do to protect yourself.
      Likewise, if I were hiring someone say to make a cake (example) for a party or in some capacity where I am going to busy with other things I would make sure to have someone I can trust who would be in charge of watching them bring in the cake, set it up and that it is what was ordered. Take pictures of them setting it up, etc. The name of the game in this age is to take pictures.

    • @JeremiahLOsborne
      @JeremiahLOsborne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't feel bad for the caterer. She knew the reception was lasting until 5:00, so she should have been professional enough to make sure that there was enough food for the guests. That's why you have a consultation with the bride and groom before the wedding, and you get all those things hammered out. The caterer said herself up for this. And looking at the spread, the fact that she blocked the plaintiff on facebook, and her excuse about not being able to make waffles which was BS from the pictures, she's the one who needs to get her act together.

    The judgement of half the amount returned was just under $1300, so the full catering bill was about $2600. For 140 guests that’s just $18 per person, to feed them for 6 hours?? That sounds very cheap. They skimped big time. Seems like the couple might’ve made out better with a simple 2-option menu (like, chicken or fish) served at their seats instead of a buffet, along with pizzas for later for the $150-$200.

    • @jasonboy9676

They could have ordered from a diner and got prices as meal at bett we r prices ,dang if waffle house and Huddle house is that cheap and they'd have a big brunch ,this want not a steak,lobster or prime rib dinner it's brunch and they paid for alcohol separately she was to only provide the buffet not linens ,plates ,crystal or any decor that why the price would be so low even venues for certain buffets added to the package are about that price for 140 and again this was not lobster they should have ordered lobster tails from our back cheaper

    The groom says: "we didn't get the full amount"! How could he expect the full amount? Somebody ate the food! Also, I was just at a wedding that was country themed; set up the same way. What the judge and/or the bride and groom didn't figure in were greedy people who just pile on the food without consideration for the rest of the guests. To me, the only way to control this is to have someone serve the food.

    • @strike8490
      @strike8490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was thinking the same thing, if the food was good (which they had no complaints on how it tasted) then I assume people were just piling up their plates and going back for seconds and maybe thirds..that is why they ran out of food,. Having someone serve it would have been more wise or even better everyone get one plate served to them like most weddings do.

    • @endiarapier5663
      @endiarapier5663 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BINGO, someone should have served the food. Individuals,rather they’re drinking alcoholic beverages or not, can pile up food and take plates home. Another thing to consider, the amount of food served should have been discussed and agreed based on the number of guest; therefore, this should be grounds for no suit. There are other things I found in the defendant’s favor, besides missing the mark(sort of speak) without a written agreement.🤦🏾‍♀️
      With that said, there should have been less FB communication and some face-to-face communication; like, a demo regarding taste and
      “what meets the eye.” As the saying, “You live and you learn.” I hope the caterer learned a valuable lesson and moved forward successfully by implementation of a written contract.

    The plaintiff's seemed to be confused on the type of wedding they really wanted. They were dressed up, but were exchanging beers at the altar. They wanted a brunch with a caterer, but wanted to keep the party going 'til dinnertime. All this for 140 guests and a food budget of $2600. It would have worked out so much better for them had they skipped the caterer and ordered trays of food. Also, it's so hard to gauge food for 'x' number of people at a buffet unless you have servers at the stations. When people are left to help themselves, it becomes a challenge for some to see how much they can pile on their plates in one go!

  • @Lilyrose23

    While I agree the plaintiff was naive ( at best) to expect a brunch/breakfast to satisfy her guests ( who stayed for lunch and dinner) it’s also the defendant’s fault for not making her sign a contract. Part of a bridesmaid’s duties is to make sure everything is going well at the wedding and try to fix any issues so the couple doesn’t have to deal with it. That is the saddest looking buffet table I have ever seen. When my husband and I got married we had around 50 guests (I have a very large family but I moved to over 1,000 miles away from home which is where I met him so only immediate family came, hubby has very very very small family) anyway, our buffet table was gigantic compared to this.
    On a side note we paid for just about the entire wedding ourselves. We weren't sure until about 2 wks before the wedding what we were gonna do about food when we were eating at our fave Fried Chicken place when I saw the sign about catering. I checked and the price I couldn't believe. We got so much food for such a low price and it was the best fried chicken anywhere. In fact, when they delivered it I swear they added extra trays bc we had so much food left over it wasn't funny. I say this to say that if you or someone you know needs catering it may well be worth it to check with your local fast food restaurants. It was the biggest blessing for us to have seen that sign that day.

      @Donna Lynn, Yes absolutely, sometimes that is not only the less expensive route to take, but it cuts down on the hassle.
      I have done bigger family meals where we pot luck the salads, desserts, beverages, then I just order a bunch of fried chicken for the meat portion, and it has been a Godsend! Even if it is a little more expensive, it's the time factor too, and how the work is distributed. If everything else is in the fridge ready to go, it allows for more time for the hostess/host to visit, and just takes some of the stress off.
      I have a friend that did that for all four children's graduation suppers, and it went great!
      Thanks for adding the suggestion here in the comments!

    The plaintiff said she thought it was a good idea for there to be sandwiches made by her guests. I think she got exactly what she wanted. She didn’t communicate exactly how she wanted it, so the defendant did what was told to her. It’s the plaintiffs fault tbh 🤷🏽‍♀️ sounds like the whole wedding was poorly planned.
    Edit: I also agree with the defendant. They made themselves sound better so they can win. If I was planning a wedding I would make sure there is a contract in place.

    Judge ruled out of pity for this one which is sad. Let’s recap said “facts”…
    The bride said she arrived late at 10:30 and claims the ceremony wasn’t a quick 8 minutes as the caterer said. But the bride said the doors to reception were locked at 10:30 bc of the caterer?? 🤔 She lies about the expectations for the tea sandwiches as her text shows 1-2 and the guest can maybe make them themselves. It’s obvious this couple didn’t know what they were doing and were very messy and then wanted to put that on this caterer. The only reason I’m ok with the ruling is for the caterer to learn the valuable lesson to always use a contract from now on to avoid this type of crap.

I know exactly how many little cheese puffs and dessert squares, and everything we had for the evening, and the cost of each piece. “Some sandwiches, these are only ideas, we don’t need all of them” with no set quantities at all is not what you want as the deal with your caterer. I will admit that brunch table did look sparse, and if that was possibly the first meal the guests were eating, that is where the onus should have been.
    As for the other table with the meats, breads, etc, if that's what they ordered, then that's what they received.

    Hey guys, this is one of the “coached” bridesmaids lol I just want to point out a few things. This was filmed for nearly 90 minutes and edited down to 22 minutes so go easy on the judgments, a lot was edited out lol. There WAS a contract that said food was to be determined at a later date that was testified during filming. Meka’s witnesses didn’t even make the show. (From what I was told, they said people kept coming in to ask where the food was and they said their mom stepped out and she could answer when she got back.) Wanted to clarify there was no expectation the food would last for 6 hours for 3rds, 4ths, etc. but there was one that everyone would at least get to eat.
    Half of the tables didn’t eat. No one got seconds. This is how I know. Tables came up one by one. One of us was at the front making sure people didn’t load up too much. (Meka was not serving the food.) That person signaled to me when it was OK to have another table get up. (More in comments…)

    • @ShopBanksTees
      @ShopBanksTees 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wish we were able to hear Meka’s claims while filming (since whoever was testifying had to wear headphones, no one else at the filming could hear what was being said) because I would have challenged some of the things she said.
      Lol we definitely were not lined up at 9:30 when I have photos of us getting ready at the house at 9:23 and on the way at 10:12 😒
      I didn’t see Meka out of the kitchen so I’m not sure who these people were who saw her to brag about the food. (Now, people did compliment the dessert section and donut wall which weren’t catered by her.)
      I will say this is a lesson learned. For Meka as a caterer hopefully to provide more guidance on what will or won’t feed a wedding party of X number. And will make sure she has detailed contracts of what’s expected of her. For Jenn, hopefully she’s learned to have a detailed contract for vendors in the future.
      Now go on with your lives, or go find one 😉

    I just can’t stand bridezillas. Contract for what you want and pay for it.

    Wish the judge had called the defendant out for trying to embarrass the plaintiff. There’s nothing wrong with drinking at your wedding reception, regardless of when it is, and just because the defendant is a gross Baptist or whatever doesn’t mean she should get away with acting like the plaintiff was committing a crime when her drinking had nothing to do with the complaint.

      I think she took pictures of the bride like that to show that if her and her guest were drinking all day of course they will be wolfing down all the food in no time.

      Who should be shamed for drinking at their wedding? Ridiculous

    The problem is there was no contract. Why in the hell is a caterer catering with NO CONTRACT? But I feel a certain way about her blocking the bride on FB so she couldn’t retrieve the messages. Judge should make her unblock to get the messages.

    I’ve worked catering events through restaurants before (some very disorganized)
    It was normal for a relaxed promotional event to provide food for 4-5 hours
    So I’m unsure why 11-5 feels so outrageous?
    Definitely need contracts; helps the business owner and c’Mon 2k? You wouldn’t want to be specific and detailed for a 2k service?

      It's not a promotional event. Events for a typical wedding happens, in a sequence of events typically drinks/ open bar, the wedding party enters the head table is seated, toasts towards the end of food service, the cake is cut, and then there is the dancing with the bar opening back up.

    After a two hours unlimited mimosas at brunch it’s very likely I will still be hungry. You wanting brunch for a wedding where people will be continually drinking to me seems crazy. Eight hours at that with one person cooking everyone lit and hungry. Also her bridesmaids really failed her. Neither of them made it their business to seek out the caterer and get a handle/explanation of the situation ? Of course the bride shouldn’t be doing that. Whole thing was a mess. I do feel like a lot of half truths were told by the plaintiffs
