  • In this video I visit RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands,. It was a cold morning and and although the wasn't a massive variety of birds I had some good sightings and had a really enjoyable morning of photography. I photographed: Black Tailed godwit, Redshank, Robin, Wren, Tufted Duck and more.

Hi Darrell. It was nice to see the Godwits, you don’t always see them. Good photo of the Cetti’s Warbler. Sandra has got her bird book out and is now checking it! Thanks Jon and Sandra

I've had many people telling me it is a Cetti's warbler. Identifying more unusual birds is not my strongest point.

That looks like a nice reserve, Darrell. Lots of variety. One ID point: after your piece to camera about the two wrens, the next couple of photographs - at 10.02 and 10.08 - show a Cetti's warbler (I think). A much rarer bird.

@@DarrellOakdenPhotography Those two can be a bit tricky. Both are fairly dumpy, short-winged birds and habitually hold their tail cocked. Cetti's often give themselves away by their song, which is nothing like a wren's.

I see you’re still using the D850 for your bird photography. 👍

The focus is so much more reliable than on my Z6ii. The Z8 is on the horizon along with a 200-600 z lens. The only problem is that the pair will most likely be seriously into the the 4 figure price range.

It would be great to do a bird video without a miss-identification. Thanks to everyone who has told me that the wren at 10 mins is a cetti's warbler.

Lovely video Darrell, I go to Ness gardens occasionally so must pop in here sometimes. Great footage with the Robin, I had one feed out of my hand at Leighton Moss, made my day!

I agree with a couple of others who have pointed it out, that your wren was a Cetti's Warbler! Many bird watchers and photographers would be so pleased to get this, me included. Only seen a few and my photographs weren't at all good! Enjoyed this video, by the way!

Thanks. I didn't know what I had taken. I visited Slimbridge a few weeks ago and saw a very rare White Rumped Sandpiper. I wouldn't have had a clue about it without all the other birders being really excited. That video is out in a few weeks.

@@DarrellOakdenPhotography Wow, I've not even heard of a white rumped sandpiper - what a stroke of luck you were there at the right time. Will look forward to watching that video when the time comes! Thanks for the tip off!

As mentioned first Wren shot is a Cetti's Warbler

What would one of my bird videos be if I didn’t mis-identify at least one.
