DWD needs to be expanded to chronic illnesses as well. Some conditions will cause a miserable QOL and last for decades not end within 6 months (the current law requirement). This needs to be made available to those who want it. For me personally I will not allow my own ME/CFS to go on another 10+ years. There ethically should be a legal way to end it for the sake of loved ones too.

No. Since 2013, doctors no longer prescribe it. Not even for terminally ill people. Not even for people with cancer. Its horrible. I took care of two terminally ill family members. These doctors cover their own @$$ and just refuse everyone pain medication.

As a Christian, I honestly struggle with Dr assisted suicide, even though I know most people that seek help in dying with dignity are terminally ill. From a biblical stand point, its still ending your life on YOUR own terms and not Gods, and that is part that would prevent me of ending my life prematurely, even if I was terminally ill.

People generally died in a week or less in Jesus time. If you broke your neck you died you were not put on a feeding tube or an oxygen tank for months or years. They didn’t have the chronic illnesses we have today for example Parkinson’s disease is mostly caused by pesticides. Jesus died after six hours on the cross, but people are supposed to hang on for years. It’s ridiculous. Ironically, even many theologians think Jesus‘s death was tantamount to a suicide. Sure the reasons might’ve been different, assuming one accepts the story, but he did not want life imprisonment, blinding, hard labor, etc. he went purposefully. So did King Saul and Samson. King soul feared being tortured and Samson was in fact being tortured. Samson was blinded and hung by his arms to pillars. People say Samson did it just for the war, but that’s not what he said. He said to God that these people blinded him and he wanted revenge and he wanted God to give him strength for that. It was personal revenge. It wasn’t even patriotic from what he said. If suicide was so bad, why would God arrange it so that Samson would do it? If God was against suicide, One would think that he would not have granted Samson permission. I am not saying I believe these stories happened, but if one does believe the Bible, I don’t think it’s fair to make up one’s own morals and replace the Bible or to take a church teaching over the Bible. Even Catholics have removed suicide from the mortal sin list in 1983. They have also added some more language to mitigate it. So things are shifting even there. The bible says, unless you are born again, you cannot seen the kingdom of god. We are all sinners upon birth, and if we dont repent and trust in Jesus, we will go to hell. Research for yourself. it sounds harsh, but there is no other way than through Jesus. You are to put it in Gods hands, because you are not the owner of yourself, God is. And if you trust in Him, he will give you what it takes to get through. Its in his hands, not yours. But you must ask him into your life first, and he will give you eternal life. If they are on hospice, they will receive excellent pain management. Not all drs are even equipped to handle aggressive pain… most use hospice.🙏
