I just went through this with my cousin Randy in fact I wasn’t prepared for this. I had no idea it was going to happen and I found out right after Randy passed though it’s hard because I have surgeries on the way and I’m more afraid but now I’m thankful I have my 1 year old niece who comforts me.
@David Penny So Penny, YES I am ready to go to sleep. I just don't want to put my kids through a suicide because most people don't understand like yourself that sometimes when you're done you're done & I'd rather them not feel any guilt over it. If I didn't have any kids I would kill myself today because I'm tired of this world. Just because you don't agree doesn't negate my feelings so just stay in your Narrow Minded Lane & keep your comments to yourself because I could literally care less what people like you think. You do you and I'll do me ok? Now go Troll someone else.
I lost my mother to cancer and in all 100% honesty, my sister and I agreed that it was almost easier to say goodbye when we saw her deteriorate because we were seeing that she was no longer our mom. It would’ve been harder if she was still herself but seeing that she couldn’t function & knowing there was nothing we could do helped us accept it better then if she was the same old mom.
I get that because I went through it too. But then it makes all this about you and what's best for you instead of your mom and what she might have had to endure to give you that closure. Of course there are so many variables and I am not judging you or blaming you for her suffering. But had she chose to end her own suffering it would not have been to hurt you or deny you seeing her in a way that made losing her easier.
Yeah but the thing is it's not about you... Your mom should have had the right to a choice. It's her body ,bodily autonomy should be complete autonomy. I am sorry you lost your mom tho. But she should've had a right to not deteriorate.
my brother died from glioblastoma several months ago. if he had a choice he would probably pull the plug too but after the first surgery his mental abilities were severely impaired. so we went all the way. the bitterest part was knowing that we are only probably a few years from discovering a cure. in a couple of decades no one will die from brain tumors.
Reading some of these comments, I am saddened. Only he knew what was going on in his body. The pain he felt and how he felt about God. Only God can know his heart. Perhaps God put him in the position to take him out of his suffering with this option. Just a thought. It was his family's choice, not anyone else's.
I could never do this because of my religious beliefs but for those who can’t endure the ravages of an illness then that is their choice. I believe God gives life and he is the only one who can take it away but this is my belief and for those who believe different I am happy they have a choice.
If more people had your generous respect for people who don't share your religious beliefs, the world would be a much better and loving place. My mother was a Christian and all three of her daughters chose different paths ... but I remember her response when someone questioned her about her "multi-faith" daughters. She said softly, "Christianity has worked very well for me ..." I thank you both for embodying the best of your faiths 🙏🙏
Being a minor you don't have that choice. It becomes whom ever it is your parents or guardians choice. Yes I believe in not seeing anyone suffer who has any debilitating disease.
I don't believe in this type of "treatment" due to my religious convictions. However, unlike some "Christians " spouting evil from their lips on this post, I will not. He made a choice. God is the ONLY one who has the authority to judge here.
What about ppl that are mentally ill, most are born that way and deal with depression their entire life's. Will there ever be any help for them if they decide enough is enough... ( I see society is will to except the gay community, because they are born that way) So again when will mentally ill depressed ppl be able to end it?

@David Penny I do not want to discuss this with you because it will really really fire me up. I think no person can assess another person's relationship with God or say with certainty that they were saved or not regardless how they die. Every person's relationship with God is their own and we have no business saying stuff like that to the family. I don't honestly care what another person says is absolutely true about this. Saying that a person is probably in hell now because _____ is absolutely using scripture as a weapon to hurt them and it's the quickest way to extinguish any chance that a person will seek God for comfort. It is abusive and presumptuous.
@David Penny "they are probably not saved" is an awful assumption to hang your argument on. Awful. These kind of statements are absolutely devoid of compassion.

For you it's wrong, for others it's not. We will all be leaving life, he chose to leave earlier and not suffer more than necessary. Listen to these people speak, listen what they say!

Yes. And it sounds like both he and his family advocate shortening the waiting period from two weeks to one.
