  • Hello everyone,
Here's a new video to share.
Today it will be an answer to the questions that were asked to me concerning video number 20.
First of all once again thank you ANTONIO for his question a little more complex than usual which allowed me to approach an interesting subject concerning the first movement of the KATA HEIAN SHODAN.
What is the relationship between an educational principle and a notion of realism in the execution of a gesture within the framework of KATA. These two subjects must be worked together but can be separated in order to learn step by step a movement.
There is no "cleavage" between a beginner and an advanced practitioner but only different stages of acquisition and integration in the execution of a technique. This management of steps allows you to progress gradually towards a more advanced way of optimizing your gestures.
What is exciting in karate-do is that during its whole life even if externally a technique will seem the same, it will be different from a physiological and mechanical felt point of view. Going into the depth of the gesture and in increasingly small details allows you to complete your technique in the quest for perfection and the search for constant progress.
For the first movement of KATA I therefore only touch on a few points and not all, at least only those for which I have received questions.
I will try to bring you some additional information, bearing in mind that my approach is filled with humility and that I do not have the absolute truth. It is a vision
personal, other interpretations are obviously possible.
    THE QUESTIONS :
1- You indicate that for the beginners it is necessary to group then to block (inevitably in gyaku kaiten, ex: first movement of the kata or on the rotations) whereas for the advanced the blockings are in jun kaiten (in the video). This is a divisive question on how to teach and I would like to hear your opinion. Personally I do not find it natural to block in the first way (not to mention realism). Thank you. Cordially.
ANOTHER ANSWER THAT IS NOT IN THIS VIDEO, IS THAT THE ARMING IN GYAKU ALSO ALLOWS TO PREPARE THE LOCKING WELL BY COMPRESSING THE BODY AS BOTTOM. THEN, AFTER THIS STEP, IT IS NO LONGER EXAGGERATED BUT FLUID. HAVE TO KEEP THE "MOTOR" AND REALIZE IT IN A "REALIST" AND NOT "SEQUENCED" GESTURE. SO AS FOR THE BOTTOM OF THE BODY THIS IS A POST DEPLOYMENT EDUCATIONAL STAGE OF A TECHNIQUE TO UNDERSTAND THE EFFECT OF COMPRESSION AND EXTENSION OF THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE BODY.
THERE THERE ARE EDUCATIONAL STEPS THAT ENABLE THEN TO OPTIMIZE THE "REALISM" OF TECHNIQUES IN A KATA.
2- Hello, why Shuto uke is doing it straight and not diagonally?
ALSO SHUTO UKE IS ALSO USED TO BLOCK DIAGONALLY OR ATTACK, THE MOST DIRECT ROUTE IS THEREFORE THE MOST EFFECTIVE.
3- In the line of the three Oi Zuki in the 2nd part of the kata, how to improve its precision in the center of the body? Thank you for the answer.
HERE, IN ADDITION TO THE VIDEO, THINK TO CENTER YOUR OI ZUKI "IN RELATION TO YOURSELF" AND YOUR TRUNK IN ACADEMIC FORM.
4- Hello, thank you for this video. Why break down the movements in the slow version of kata so much at the start of the video?
ALSO, IN ADDITION TO THE VIDEO OR I TAKE ONLY THE PART OF THE END OF THE GESTURE, THERE IS ALSO A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THE PREVIOUS STEPS IN THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE ROUTE OF A GESTURE. THE ESSENTIAL IS TO SEE THE CUTTING OF A GESTURE.
    TO FINISH :
On the educational part of the beginner this aims to accustom the practitioner to descend well on his positions before executing the blocking so as not to descend diagonally from the top. and also understand how you have to squeeze your hips to get the compression and then hip extension effect.
Then obviously we must no longer sequence this "exaggerated" movement to keep the sensation and the "motor".
The movement is not a diagonal descent nor is it a square descent downwards then to the side (beginner version) .
It is a curved effect (comma, both for the legs and the arms) which makes it possible to find in the descent this loading effect of the hip and compression so as to be able to extend it when the rear leg is going to push.
In KATA we make the first forward movement vers but it can be as well backwards.
Finally this educational of the first movement of KATA HEIAN SHODAN is also among other things the starting base of learning for rotations, of TETSUI and the first movement of KATA following HEIAN NIDAN in order to place his pelvis at the time of the descent.
    HERE IS,
    That's all for today,
Good luck and thank you to everyone.
    OSS!
