    I use your videos to help with my technique! I've found that I'm a throwing foot front, non stepper. I'm used to playing outside and indoors with higher ceilings.. recently played blind draw tourney at local VFW with low ceilings AND ceiling fans! Had to completely adjust my shot, BUT I think I found something that really works for me. Was a blessing in disguise! Keep up the great work Anthony and gang! As a huge disc golf player who has recently been getting into Cornhole, the sport needs more content like this. Having seen disc golf grow from its infancy to having multiple 100k plus subscription youtube channels keep charging my man. This channel will be one of the bigs when the sport gains more traction in the coming years.

    Do you have any videos or research on high spin rate vs low spin rate? If high spin rate is better any tips on generating higher spin rates? I was just at the ACL open in Brighton Michigan and the majority of the best shooters that I saw had high spin rates, especially the up and comers and all of the young kid pros? Thank you for all your informative videos.

      An easy content creation engine for you could be "cornhole question science Sunday's." You take in questions to an e-mail and weekly or bi-weekly pick a good question and spend 5 minutes answering it. My first question would be should a beginner practice just getting on the board center/in the hole or should they also be practicing the muscle memory of the more complex shots so that later it feels more natural?

  • @michaelminnie8925
    @michaelminnie8925 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Anthony, any tips on arm direction/aim? Any drills or thought processes when it comes to that, like do you try to keep an eye on your arm as you release the bag to make sure it’s at the hole? Thanks as always

    • @cornholescience3636
      @cornholescience3636  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out the Cornhole 101 on Pitch Technique. See if that helps. I wouldn’t recommend looking at your arm. I polled 10 elite national championship pros and there was a 50-50 mix of looking at the hole and looking at their spot.

      @michaelminnie8925 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cornholescience3636 I normally look at the hole, but My buddy mentioned my arm going to the right and said he focuses on that too. I’d like to finish center off of mass, but don’t consistently do it. Lol. Thanks

      @@michaelminnie8925 I’m in the same exact boat. I can throw well and hit airmails and pushes at times, but my aim can also be very inconsistent. I just flat miss the hole a lot. I can go from four baggers to throwing two off the board and fives the next couple frames. I’ve been playing a couple years and just cannot seem to improve consistency. I have a nice flat spinning bag, I just often can’t land the bag where I want it. I’ve tried different grips, throws, stances, bags, nothing improves my shot placement inconsistency and I have no idea how to get better at it.

  • @jzirin
    @jzirin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the “no step” pros, is there a consensus on whether the front foot should be the same side as your throwing arm?

    • @winangels2375
      @winangels2375 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a 'pro', but from what I gather, there is not. For me personally, I don't step, and have my throwing foot forward. It helps me keep my backswing from going to far. The farther my backswing, the more chance my arm gets off plane. I also have my weight over my front foot probably 80-20 as well, which he said isn't common. In short, do what is comfortable for you... :)

    • @jzirin
      @jzirin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@winangels2375 thanks. I think that is the upshot…do what feels comfortable, repeatable, and is effective. I personally have about a 50-50 weight balance but put my non-throwing foot forward.

    I am really struggling with throwing a flat bag. My bags are kicking off to the right and left because my bag isn’t flat enough to keep it straight up the board. When I do throw a flat bag bag is off to the right or left sometimes not even hitting the board. So how can I get a flat bag and stay consistent straight up the board

    • @anthonyayon9412
      @anthonyayon9412 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The answer to that is what we all seek and not a clear cut answer in text. So many factors (grip, release, stance, arm motion, repetition, repetition, repetition, and so much more). To get started in the right direction I’d look to your local advanced / pro players

    How does the throwing techniques differ when playing on the beach with variables such as wind?

    • @cornholescience3636
      @cornholescience3636  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have much beach experience but do have quite a bit in the wind. Those who throw a flat bag excel in the wind. Combine that with a sticky flat bag you can now throw low (below the wind), hard, and cut through the wind in the flat bag condition giving you the advantage. High non flat bags turn into kites.

    At risk of sounding silly, I would like to know what the official dimensions Of a corn hole board are.
    More specifically, the front edge off the ground.
    I have heard, 3 inches.
    Which would substantially increase The slope of the board from one made with 2x4s ( given the back stay at a 12 inch height.)

    • @cornholescience3636
      @cornholescience3636  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Douglas. No question is silly we all have different levels of understanding of this game from brand new players to expert. Here’s a copy and paste of the official ACL rules on boards specs. The answer to your question is 2.5 - 3.5 inches
      1. Equipment
      a. Boards
      i. Boards shall be made of wood for use in ACL sanctioned events. The most common types are birch and oak.
      ii. Boards shall have a finished coat that features a smooth texture.
      iii. Boards must measure two feet wide and four feet long, with a ±1/4
      inch tolerance.
      iv. The hole must be 6 inches (±1/8 inch) in diameter, centered
      width-wise.
      1. The center of the hole must be 9 inches (±1/8 inch) from the
      back edge of the board
      v. Boards must have a minimum top layer thickness of 1⁄2 inch with
      cross-section support, or 3⁄4 inch without cross-section support.
      vi. Boards must have a weight of at least 15 pounds.
      vii. The front edge of the board should be raised between 2.5 and 3.5 inches above the ground.
      viii. The top of the board should rest 12 inches above the ground (±1/2 inch).
      ix. No foreign substances may be applied to a board after it has been purchased from a manufacturer.
      1. Substances include but are not limited to baby powder, cleaning spray, and silicone sprays.
      2. A dry cloth may be used to wipe down a board prior to play.

    • @cornholescience3636
      @cornholescience3636  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Scott. The rule as described in the video is correct. The rule is in fact went the step touches the ground not when crossing the line. So you are allowed to cross the foul line as long as you release the bag before your foot touches the ground. It’s section 4.a.iii. It reads “ when pitching a bag players must release the bag before any part of their body touches the ground on or beyond the foul line”
