The newspapers on the wall are called 'Scrim' - often with sacking called ' sarking' - used as a lining and often under carpets as insulation, in the old days when they had nothing else
Wow! I definitely need to find this place! Stayed in Reefton when I was a kid, because there was a Girl Guide jamboree that had booked out Greymouth - I still remember how cool and quirky it was. Thanks for the inspiration, guys! ❤
It’s really a wonderful little town. I saw an article in Stuff recently about a mineral they discovered which could cause a new boom in Reefton. As well as the gold mines starting up again. It’s going to be a great little hub in the region I think!
Hi guys. Lovely accommodation with a lot of thought put in to make it a unique stay. Liked Reefton with cute wooden buildings and the Powerhouse walk looked so scenic! ❤
Thanks for watching Tracy, that accommodation felt so authentic! It was really interesting to just wander around but also had all the luxuries we needed 🤩
Good morning 🌄 (UK), guys in 🇳🇿. Another great programme📺! I especially liked the music room in The Brewers Night Inn: Does the piano 🎹 date back as far as around 1870,as well, just out of interest? The old-fashioned typewriter is cool,too- love that! A very interesting bit of history in that place.I liked the swing bridge🌉,too.
Hi Angus! I thought you would appreciate the piano, it's over a hundred years old and lived on the West Coast all of its life apparently! The gold mining history was just wonderful, those people really did it tough out there for the ultimate reward!
Great video guys. What a quaint little town. Being Cornish, I love all the links to Cornwall. Looks like you're having a whale of a time. Look forward to the next installment.
