One of the best part about your work is the synergy between all of you. No one stands higher, no one stands lower. Each part is played in conjuncture with each other and each man has a role to play - It's amazing! Because as it stands, the music you created is an inspired and original work based on the video game, rather than the other way around. You took the original piece and added your own CREATIVITY, deviating from the music sheet and applying your mastery, your own perspective, to the musical piece. Best of all, you've captured the ESSENCE of the music. It's clear that you've played the game and you understand the context in which the music is being played. As gamers who played Chrono Trigger, we all know the emotion that the music captures: mystery, fear, uncertainty. All of which are the foundation to the immersion that one feels, AS SOON AS YOU STEP OUT OF THE TIME GATE AS CHRONO. Many artists, and I mean many, have played musical scores trying to add their own style to the music - which is great don't get me wrong! But in doing so, they lose the essence of what the music is about, the emotion it's trying to portray. You three, on the other hand, encapsulate the essence of the music, the feel, the context - while adding your own creativity to the mix. This is great! Amazing experience! It is. There is nothing music copyright holders can do to stop you from covering their music, as long as you pay them the required cover licensing fee.
Japan is very different, my friend. Ever heard of doujins? Amateur works are unofficially supported by major companies. They don't have letter contracts for it or whatever, but they have been nothing but supportive of the hobbyist community.

Jesus Christ, that bass solo deserves a lot more credit than given. In a tune that constantly changes key and a double bass no less, you have to be really on top to maintain consistency without it going a little too "free-jazzy".
