I was told all manufacturer price increase was 8% for south FL too. Was also told that PSC motors are going away after this year so now people will have to buy a $800-$1k just for a new motor. I don't know how lower income families are going to be able to afford a repair let alone own a system. Its even code down here that you cant just replace a CU or a AHU, permitting office makes you buy a whole system and you cant get a permit without it. Its very wasteful and wrong. Air Conditioning is about to become a luxury item and its sad. Hope it doesn't come to that and it feels very dystopian.
I had a Lennox heat exchanger bad last week and the office found out it was under warranty which was a good thing because the cost for the heat exchanger from Lennox was $3,700
You had some good inspectors on that job! I’m not sure about all the price increases on everything these days. I think they have found they can charge more and get by with it so they continue the process. Does make it rough on end users like yourself.
Hey, I'm curious. Do you ever block off the fan in the Winter in order to check the cooling? I know they make a fancy adjustable cover that can limit the amount of air going over the condenser coils but I've never thought about getting one. I have tried just covering the top of the unit with some degree of success. I certainly prefer cooling checks in the Summer. Today was one of the days when you can't hardly check either. I evacuated a Mini Split, repaired a leak and then charged it by weighing in the 6.1 lbs that it held. It was hard to evaluate today but I trust it's going to be ok since I weighed it in.
Yes Curtis prices have been rising for the last 5years. I have question on the control board I noticed on the boars in the bottom right corner there was a blk round disk that has an orange color tube attached to it, Im asking if that is the spark ignitor? If so I have noticed that some have a round wire connector on them and some dont. That being said does a new board have to be replaced or can the ignitor and tube just need replaced?
You have to thank the president and the rest of the government for increasing prices. I don’t understand why we have flammable refrigerant in domestic refrigerators.
If I suspect a leak then I’ll bring leak detectors but if that don’t work then I’m telling them to call in spring or right before summer that way we can have a better idea of where the pressures should be and where they’re at. Plus it don’t make sense to be cooling your home when it’s 45 degrees out, the system is not even designed to cool the house down that low.
Would it be worth just replacing the TXV and see how it does? Also, when you pull the vacuum for that, maybe you could tell if it doesn't hold that there IS a leak.
Another one getting old. They need to do something to prevent the rust and corrosion in these coils. The mixing of different metals does not help. Maybe they should try using a polymer or something of the sort. 15 years is getting there, but you should be able to go longer than that. Those pups checking you out was a trip. I wonder if they smelled Riley on you. Anyhow, nice job.
Due to negative impacts of Obidenomics, it’s time Riley started helping out in the family HVAC business, even if it’s just driving and maintaining the van. Riley the Driving Dog! 🐾. He could have his own YT channel. 🤣

he dog came over to tell you he was concerned about a possible leak at the service port Schrader valves.
Not going to lie, your thumbnail with the HVAC Supervisor Dog had me click on your video!
He was cute
same
Dog's and a cold beer are the best.
How is there always somebody with a chainsaw or a leaf blower working right next to you guys when you're trying to do a video? 😆😎👍
It's because Curtis brings out the best in people.
Whenever they know he's coming to their neighborhood they get to cleaning up.
Sounds like the one yesterday that was going into a vacuum.
If it would have been me as soon as I saw the dye I would have broke out my UV detection
I'm in SC. We getting that crazy weather here too!
Neighbor just had his split system changed out for 21,000 dollars ,his home was paid for but he had to do a refi on his house to pay for it
Don’t know the particulars, but for around here that sounds really high.

Great Video. Thank you for sharing
Nice work Curtis. Hopefully you'll get the repairs or replacement.
I hope so too
Good morning from New Jersey
Morning
Thanks.

Not on me. But, my customers are paying the price
@@HVACGUY sure are and there’s not anything you can do to help much and still be in business. Talk about a rock and a hard place
We need more doggies in these videos :D
New unit time
Good video Curtis, prices are going up here in Australia also. I feel a lot of it is Greed now 🤔 Au
Got notice today about price increases. This has to stop

Prices and EPA regulations people will have to go back to box and attic fans.
Not a bad idea.
For that customer it really be better to get a new system installed for that package unit.
$3k for repairs or $11k+ for a new unit. I know which one most people would choose...

Yes, that the igniter wire. Igniter is a separate piece.
@@HVACGUY Ok cool thats what I thought as it brings 10,000v to the ignitor.

@@roberthanulec5987 I don't think the current president has anything to do with corporations screwing consumers to make more money for shareholders.
Nice 👍🏼 😊

It was 80 the other day.
The client complaint from a previous day when temps were in the 80s. Curtis mentioned this early in the video.

Why would they? Needing new coils = more money for them.
You are right about that. They don't care.@@uzlonewolf
Most new ones are aluminum.
What brand leak detector is that? I see you went back to the Tech MCT. Didn't like the MB4B?
That’s the JB Prowler, and the MB4B wasn’t practical for daily carry bag
Are those 4 legged critters friendlies?
How do you like the jb prowler
A couple of good looking assistant techs you have working there
My goodness, 13 years old and needing replacing.
👍👍👍
I thought it was Still Winter in January ? Can’t they Wait a Day and Turn their Heat back ON ? 🤪👎
Please don’t use that leak detector, no bueno
👍👍😊😊
I dont care for that leak detector, seams like too many misfires.
I've had it for a long time. If you hit the tip on anything, it goes off.
