    Leather Zip Wallet with Built in Wristlet // Leather Craft TUToRiaL
    This design was a leather collaboration between both of us, and we love the final result! This leather zip wallet design has plenty of storage but carries very slim, perfect for a minimal carry or a night out! It's also a simple leather crafting project to dip your toes into zippers, if you'd like to watch our full zipper tutorial for simple zipper instillation check out this video we made to help you learn:

    Happy Crafting :)

    After making a few I found approx 30 cm to be a nice length for the wristlet part. No so loose it falls off your wrist but also not so tight you can't get the bugger on! Obviously measure your zip opening but around 8mm wide lace has been perfect for the strap.

    I like it, it reminds me of a pattern I bought recently called pocket pal by Linds Handmade using fabric. I was trying to do her pattern in leather but since yours is a leather pattern I’ll just purchase it, thanks.
    Thank you for sharing your talent

    Do you ever finish the natural veg tanned leather with anything before selling items?
    Do you use the same thing every time or different finishes depending on the item and leather?
    Thanks for the share! Always enjoy your videos.

    1st time I’ve seen a zipper size specified so thank you for that. Wish somebody would cover sizing zippers in depth from wallets to bags. The minimum size necessary and the use of zipper size as a design element. If this used a 5/6 then when would you use a size 3/4?

    Also, does that basting tape ever get residue and sticky stuff all over your stitching irons?
    Might be the type I've used before but every time I use tape then punch through it, I have to soak my irons in rubbing alcohol to clean them off and never use the tape because of it ://.
    Is there something I'm missing or maybe a brand of tape that doesn't do that?
    Thanks!!

      If you ask that in any leather worker forum you are going to start a fight. Nobody can agree. Personally I use 4mm on wallets and 5mm on larger things like bags.

    So no zipper stops?

    • @chemclimber
      @chemclimber ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need them. If you make the tape a little bit longer than the opening the leather stops it coming apart and then the stiches also can act as stops 👍👍 I've made these with stops and made it harder to fold the wallet into its final shape.

    • @damesydneyleatherworksprie9136
      @damesydneyleatherworksprie9136 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve made them with stops as well and yes it is very hard to fold. Thanks for the response

    Be careful, the pattern is only suitable for USD banknotes or smaller.

      It’s not for banknotes….it’s a coins, cards and receipts wallet.
