Greetings from India. Your Dad is definitely a rock star. Reminds me of my dad who rides a 30 year old RE. Just wanted to make a point that while the Himalayan may seem under powered, a lot of the power comes at pretty low RPMs. So it's a charm when a tackling off-roads . Cheers!
@@digjeetsinghrathor My UK dealer says new Himalayan coming with higher power 450cc. This current engine to drop to 250cc. Royal Enfield said no to Himalayan 650.

I enjoyed the video for several reasons.... I'm a fan of the Himalayan, where less is more, and your dad is a cool charismatic guy, just don't tell him that lol
This is a travel bike. With improvements in quality it can be one of the best in that segment. Nice and simple review, bulls eye on simplicity remark. Also, the bike is forgiving in terms of drops/maintenance, the running cost would be half of cb500x
Lovely video , I plan on buying one for my daughter and myself in Australia and drive back . Really enjoyed this , thank you. My last bike was an xv1000 but i took my daughter to Vietnam to teach her how to ride last year and we drove the whole way from Saigon to china and back to Hanoi on 125 cc bikes ! It was great and now I will never ride a big bike again , less is more especially if you want a really good adventure off motorways :)
The Himalayan is not built for motorways, it is a 'go anywhere' bike, a little underpowered perhaps but lots of torque which is ideal for trials type riding, THe only complaing I have is the fuel capacity although you can carry up to alother possible 10 litres in cans on the front guards.. BMW have an interesting auxiliary 7 litre tank fits alongide the rear wheel and on the other side from the silencer. perhaps RE could make something along those lines. Howevwer the RE is pretty economical anyway
Nice comment! Just bought a Himalayan - half the weight of my current bike, twice the fuel mileage and hopefully even more fun! It’s so true about having power you don’t need.
Great funThomas , I certainly considered the Himalayan before choosing the 500X, I really like the classic looks of it. A bit more horsepower and maybe a few upgrades (e.g. brakes, LED lights) and I think they'd sell even more, especially if they can keep the price reasonable! Regards to your Dad, he's very cool!
Great review! I rode a Himalayan for 10,000 kms commuting and travelling before selling it. I really liked it, but it was a bit too underpowered. I did love the fact that it used so little fuel, however, and I had few problems with it, except for the head bearings, which had to be replaced (under guarantee). Great watch, Thanks. Good Father/Son exchange. So typical of the two generations, the former has a little lower contentment level than the latter. Father- RE Himalayan, Son - Honda CB500X. Both good bikes
The Himalayan is a great bike if it fits your needs. When you live in an area where roads are long and fast, there's more of a need to have enough power to keep up and some in reserve too. Both my bikes are 48 and 50hp. That's Min. for me. Otherwise I would prob. buy one.
Great video. I agree with your dad on the classic style of the Royal Infield. It’s good looks, color combination, and great style even with the accessories are usually found in much more expensive bikes👍 I think he would only change two things about the bike because he took too long to say the seat LOL. Like you, I’m looking at getting the CB500X ABS because of more power but the Royal Enfield is all around perfect for that region and most people that just want to enjoy true riding while looking good and saving some money without sacrificing fun and style 🤙🏼👍
The little mule is right out of Terry & the Pirates.. that's part of it's appeal. It can kick up it's heels if need be but prefers to take in the scenery at a sensible pace. 😁
Great review, I really agree about the power aspect, it's not about having 100hp, but if it did have an extra 10/15 hp it'd be more useful for longer trips and riding 2-up, don't think it needs the 650 twin in it, but a higher output single cylinder would be PERFECT. Hope the next variant makes some slight improvements ;)

Thanks for review. I would like to ask why your father point out that 2 person riding is better with the CB500x? I often ride long distance with my gf on the back so I would like to know (308lbs for both of us plus luggage is about another 40lbs). We are currently live in Vietnam and most of the road here are not good, speed limit for bike is about 40mph and there is no real highway riding over here. However the weather is very hot and humid so I think the bike is a little bit too hot base on my 30 min test ride. We both like the looks and feel of the Hymalayan so if it not a problem we will get it.
Thanks for you reaction. Just meant that on the CB the passenger has more comfort as the seat is bigger and the bike has more torque. But the hymi is also very capable. Greetings.
OMG the audio on this video :0 looking back it's a shame I put music in and didn't use on-body-microphones in such a popular video.. Hope you still enjoy!

First time here. I enjoyed your father-son interaction and review! Currently I have a Yamaha XMAX 300 CVT scooter. When my fiance comes to America we are thinking of an adventure bike to be able to also do some secondary roads and dirt roads better. I have pretty much settled on the Honda CB500X. We both really also like the Himalayan though.
If your goal is offroad and dirttracks, the Himi is also a very good choice! If you go with the CBX and decide to do a lot of gravel roads, different tires will make her feel safer :)
I have a 2019 Himalayan, and it is made to go offroad. To me if feels like a big mountain bike. It is not a light-weight dual sport. It is a RTW type bike that does off and on road well, but not fast. Then why would you want fast if you are touring around the world? You might miss something. I love this bike for the back roads, and even when things get a bit knarly it performs well enough.
Thanks for all the feedback. Didn't expect that. Amazing almost 60K views

Great review!! Very accurate and divulgative!
Loved the father son bonding
Mooi. Als vlaming te bekijken maar al 35 j in ierland wonend. En actief lid van de 'RE club ireland. Waar de Himalayan uitermate popular is.
En je Vader hft volledig gelijk om te downsizen

Good balanced review, now what does your dad feel about the 500X, on video please.
dondle2 I’m going to compare these 2 bikes in the near future ;)
First time here. I enjoyed your father-son interaction and review!
Currently I have a Yamaha XMAX 300 CVT scooter. When my fiance comes to America we are thinking of an adventure bike to be able to also do some secondary roads and dirt roads better. I have pretty much settled on the Honda CB500X. We both really also like the Himalayan though.
If your goal is offroad and dirttracks, the Himi is also a very good choice! If you go with the CBX and decide to do a lot of gravel roads, different tires will make her feel safer :)
@@thebrightrider Thank you! I will remember you are advice.
Great review and video. Thanks!
Finally someone pronounced Himalayan right. 00:15 😁

This is the one
Very nice camera quality
I have a 2019 Himalayan, and it is made to go offroad. To me if feels like a big mountain bike. It is not a light-weight dual sport. It is a RTW type bike that does off and on road well, but not fast. Then why would you want fast if you are touring around the world? You might miss something. I love this bike for the back roads, and even when things get a bit knarly it performs well enough.
I always say; on a motorcycle, if you’re going over 60mph, you’re on a wrong road
