J. S. Bach: Arioso from BWV 156 • Werner Elmker, piano [HQ]

Werner Elmker gave a piano performance of J. S. Bach: Arioso from Cantata BWV 156.
This piece was also made into a song by Caetano Veloso and Flávio Venturini called Ceu de Santo Amaro.
In performance of classical as well as original music, Danish concert pianist and composer Werner Elmker emphasizes the importance of improvisation as the main source of all great music. Improvised music is 'fresh' music created in the moment, and often gives a stronger experience than music notated on paper. Most of the great composers used improvisation during recitals and composing. Like the classical masters, Dr. Elmker improvises in his own tonal language which finds its origin in previous styles of classical music. He utilizes free improvisation, improvisation on original melodies, classical themes, folksongs, and film music. Through performances, CDs, radio programs and education, he seeks to reinvigorate the lost art of classical improvisation.

Simplesmente divina.

A música realmente é fenomenal, mas na verdade, somente o Flávio Venturini é o criador único da letra desta música, Caetano Veloso apenas cantou-a, assim como o próprio Flávio e diversos outros interprétes também o fizeram.
"Em uma entrevista ao Versos e Prosas, Flávio Venturini conta como surgiu a ideia da música. “Eu estava numa festa de Reis, na casa do Caetano, lá em Santo Amaro, no dia seis de janeiro de dois mil. Eu estava ouvindo uma gravação de um violonista espanhol, tocando essa música. Aí eu pensei, ‘pô, essa música parece uma música popular'”.
A inspiração já estava com Flávio Venturini quando ele olhou para o céu e viu as estrelas da imensidão e ainda disse. “E aí, teve uma festa linda, uma festa de reis, na casa de dona Canô”. E ainda conta. “e na volta a Salvador eu fui no carro mesmo, eu já fui tendo ideias e fui escrevendo a letra”.
A força desse amor todo pela música invadiu o coração de Caetano Veloso. Então, Flávio Venturini completa. “E aí, naquela semana, eu fui na casa do Caetano e falei com ele que tinha feito uma letra, na casa dele”.
Então, veio a certeza de Caetano: ele queria cantar com Flávio Venturini. E foi assim, eles cantaram em um show, na Concha acústica de Salvador, e depois a música foi tema de novela. No caso, a novela Cabocla, exibida pela Rede Globo, em 2004.
Alguns atribuem, erroneamente, a autoria também a Caetano, talvez por ilação com o nome da cidade de origem do compositor baiano, Santo Amaro da Purificação."
