The culture wars weren't inflamed back then to the extent they are now, social media existed but hadn't been so widely adopted, and TH-cam wasn't as developed, (it was primarily being used for bootleg Naruto uploads at the time). So we still didn't have this paradigm of "everybody knowing about everybody else's drama all at once", like we basically have now. For those reasons I can kinda see how he got away with saying that ish at the time. But I think if George Clooney said it now, pretty much every TH-camr and media outlet would be covering it as a controversy. It would be too viral of a story *not* to talk about.

It turns out gas cars are better for the environment, both still you use the same amount of fossil fuels , except gas engines are easily recycled compared to all the batteries that just get put in the ground.
Hybrids, not EVs are far more _economical._ Especially with a company like Toyota. They use a far cheaper and smaller NiMH battery that increases the gas mileage by 80-100%

Most new cars, including many pick-up trucks and even supercars have been hybrids in the past 5-6 years. The smug hybrid drivers have been replaced by EV owners. And now that EVs are failing, hybrids are the new naturally aspirated.

Cars emit CO2 which helps plants and trees grow which the environment needs to function as well. everything has pros and cons. you just have to weigh out the decision for yourself.
