25 YEARS??? Wow.. People who get caught with drugs, possession with the intent to sell, drug trafficking, etc, get more time than a person who commits murder. It’s ridiculous.
@dennismcconnell4222 it's so ridiculous. I know someone serving 10 years for drugs, ten years for non violent drug offense! His bond was 2 million!! I couldn't believe it! That's more than most bonds on murder charges if they get a bond. And they can throw an intent to sell charge depending on how they feel. If someone is an addict they probably have a high ass tolerance, like who are the cops to say what's too much for an addict to the point they throw a more serious sale charge on top of possession. It makes me so mad, it's honestly pointless to arrest dealers or addicts. They need to make drugs legal and cut the bs. Arresting dealers and addicts has done what to the "war on drugs"? Lol absolutely nothing except put non violent people in jail with a record to screw up their prospects at getting a legit job which then puts them out making money on the streets. It was planned this way. Privatized prisons should be illegal, nobody should profit off of sending people to jail. How is that not unethical? And people can close their eyes to the truth and just judge something that is really a moral issue not a criminal one. If an adult wants to get high (as long as there are no other crimes being committed who cares? That's a personal choice what someone puts in their body) hell the FDA approves ingredients in our food the EU would never allow but they care suddenly if an adult wants to get high. It's simple supply and demand, as long as there are people who want to get high there will be someone to sell it to them. Arresting dealers and giving them felonies has not stopped drug use in any way. All it does it take one off the streets to fill a bed in prison while someone else takes their spot and the cycle continues and it helps noone but the people making money off of Privatized prisons. Make drugs legal like some other countries have done and you stop diseases being spread, you stop other crimes that may possibly be committed by the person trying to get money to buy drugs and you stop the overdoses! But I guess the government thinks that idea is way too crazy so Arresting non violent people and having zombies walking around Philly, LA , NY etc getting high off of God knows what the drugs are cut with and being eaten alive by the latest cut tranq, because obviously fentanyl wasn't enough. Sorry for the damn novel I just hate hearing people going to jail over drugs (especially weed but not limited to it). The answer lies with the users not the dealers so why are we choosing insanity by trying the same thing over and over again that doesn't stop drug use in this country at all. Imagine a place where an addict or once in a few user can go to safely get high with no deadly cut in it, no passing of dirty needles and then no need for crimes to get the drugs or a need for dealers! It's already happening in other countries and is working! Have help for addicts wanting to get clean and a safe space for those who aren't ready yet. That alone would drop us from being the number ¹ country with the most people in prison. I guarantee if this was implemented in the US the next generation won't be full of addicts as there won't be fake presses pills or percocets out in the world ready for a teen to experiment. Nobody wakes up one day and decides they want to try heroin. It would be there to help addicts who are already too deep in and won't look as appealing to non users if they had to "experiment" for the first time infront of a nurse. Boom "war on drugs" fixed within 20-30 years. I can't be the only one to realize the game and the most probable solution!
Lol omg sorry again that was the longest comment I ever wrote. I'm clearly passionate about it 😂. I wouldn't read that shit if I didn't write it but I fixed the "war on drugs" if people are open to reality instead of what they think is wrong. 😂

Usually when someone is in a alcohol and drug induce frenzy, they don't leave any witnesses behind. Thanks to him continuing to drink and snort, he did leave people alive which eventually brought an end to his horror. I feel so bad about what happened to the owner and could only imagine what his wife went through. But on the flip side, I'm so happy the killer never made parole and eventually died in prison. One less bad seed to walk the streets.
I've drank and snorted plenty of stuff in my day but never felt the need to be violent with anyone. It's so weird how drugs effect different personalities in such profoundly different ways. I just want to make everyone around my laugh not murder them.
@@BiggieTrismegistus I agree, lots of people have done drugs and drink alcohol and didn't go out to take someone's life or even entertained the thought to do so. But you're right, drugs effect people differently. I guess it's all about their state of mind.

I have recently come across your channel. You tell of crimes I have never heard of in the most respectful way to the victims. Thankfully that monster died behind bars. R.I. P Herbie.
Thank you for another great episode. I love the way you are respectful and caring of the victims and the families. The women involved are heroes to me! Thank God they escaped. I'm glad the man that committed these crimes will never walk the streets again.
How are they hero's .why didn't they call 911 once he let them go and they were safe !! Or do you mean the other 2 woman. They are hardly hero's for doing the right thing . What do you expect them to do not tell somebody a man's been murdered and had his head cut off!!
New fan here, I love hearing about true crime and this is one of the best channels I’ve heard. Love these strange, crazy but true stories. thank you bringing them the attention they deserve 😊
I was born and raised in New York and I’m still here and I love New York but the stories that you put together are amazing and I feel so bad for the kids that lost their life❤🙏🏼 and everybody else❤
I could never get over your story telling. It just adds onto the sadness the way you narrate. Then the music you add and the clips? Wow. Your videos always make me feel something, like I want to cry. Great job.
Another great episode Jose! I also grew up here in New York City in the 80's. I don't know if you remember but there was a case that happened here in the early 90's i believe, where a man was attacking people with a hammer. I think one of his victims was riding the subway when he attacked her. I don't remember if the guy was ever caught. The press here in NY nicknamed him the hammer.
Young man, I stumbled upon your channel. Your voice, intelligent, respectful presentation of facts immediately caught my attention. A grisly story told with compassion for the victims--well done. I shall watch you with interest.
Good Evening Jose. Great video as usual. This was an insane case. The thing i find mind-blowing in a situation like Herbie's. Is how a completely innocent woman was forced through intimidation too decapitate the head of their boss and friend.. A true living nightmare. Thanks Jose.
Nothing was more horrific than being a child growing up hearing these types of horror stories, and not being able to do absolutely nothing about them‼️… Can you please cover the Patrick F Daly principal story from December of 1992, in red hook projects in BROOKLYN….
My brother's killer did 24 years and been out here running around somewhere still far as i know. We were only kids, he was only 13 shit is crazy. If you kill someone on purpose you should have to stay in there.
Coke is a hell of a drug. I rode past this spot yesterday, and I'm just at aw. Another area you have me telling stories to someone. You're the man, Jose. Keep it going! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I was only 9 when this gruesome murder happened but I would never forget it because it happened on my birthday, I can’t believe how New York has some of the worst crime laws, nothing less than life is appropriate for a crime so heinous
I was too, and lived not too far from the bar. This is such a horrible crime, yet I never heard about it. It’s odd, because my parents were avid readers, we had to read the newspaper everyday. It’s creepy just how often I walked past there, and never knew. NYC in the 1980’s was a different beast.
I'm not sure if you all have been in traumatic experiences when your life is in danger, however when you're in that very moment. your body goes into shock and it's either fight or flight or die keyword shock that's why she didn't dial 911 immediately it happens very frequently more than you would even think but you wouldn't know unless you experience the first hand
@@sunshine_thee_og after they both left they could have called there was a lot of time that passed by. And of course with what they saw they were in shock who wouldn’t but let’s be real. And that’s my opinion
What I can’t believe is the two people he let go didn’t call the police. He was there for over 2 hours after he let the first person go and no police showed up. And 25 years to life for all that. This entire story is insane.
1980s you guys. 1983. Ya whole day and life and thoughts are different then.lol. Plastics weren't even invented well then in 1983. No woman knows what we know now about life.etc.
Wasn’t one of them violently raped by him right after she witnessed her boss being killed? Sometimes people go into a catatonic state or even have a psychotic break after a horrible trauma; who knows what she went through; she might have been incapacitated
I totally remember this horrific situation. I was living in the area and went to Herbie’s bars for drinks. My family knew Herbie who was a gentle kind guy. This was really a sad sad day..
I can’t believe the First Lady that was let go didn’t call the police. To try and save the other people left behind. I don’t care how scared or shocked your safe now but them other two women where not

Shows you just are as respectable as the way you speak and share these stories. Thank you for all the hard work. So glad I subscribed.
It seemed he wanted them to kind of party with him, even though he'd just killed a man and totally freaked everyone out...
I was born in 1969 in woodhaven new york.right on jamaica ave,the streets were mean and completely unlawful.
I grew uo learning to fight since i was 3 years old.
As a teenager i ran with a rough crowd.almost all of that crew is dead
When i turned 21 i left and moved to connecticut.that decision saved my life.
Good job on the story.
God bless you for the compassion and empathy you show these poor victims. Your humanity separates you from other true crime channels. Blessings 🙏
I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you!
It’s crazy to know that some of these old heads walking around could have been freed from prison for some of the most heinous acts smh
There's many of them
I play chess at the park with them in Detroit all the time 🤷
Yup one of my uncles did 28 years for stabbing two people to death. When I see him at family events I always get low key scared
@@MaiMai-ys4yg omg I can imagine!!
@@MaiMai-ys4ygi know that right
You have a very calm and soothing voice, in such contrast to the subject matter you cover. It's something I appreciate because the details really are hard to listen to sometimes. But the way you speak makes it obvious that you still choose your words carefully and present them honestly but gently. Well done and much appreciated. Thank you sir
I totally agree!!!!
"headless body in a topless bar" is an instant read/watch. What a terrible story
WOW! As gruesome as this story is, I find it amazing that all the women in it survived!
Rest in peace, Herbie 🙏🏽
Thank You again for the utmost respect you show in your videos.
RIP Herbie.🕊
I'm an OLD - I was 15 when the Post ran that infamous "HEADLESS BODY IN A TOPLESS BAR" headline
Great stories I've never heard about. Thank you for keeping the names of victims alive by doing your research.
Also, thanks for having ethics to mention the original journo who came up with the name
Seriously, they are. That's a very long night to suffer through. They got justice for Herbie.
How are they hero's .why didn't they call 911 once he let them go and they were safe !! Or do you mean the other 2 woman. They are hardly hero's for doing the right thing . What do you expect them to do not tell somebody a man's been murdered and had his head cut off!!
Imagine criticizing victims of violent crime for being in shock or having a trauma response SMDH
New fan here, I love hearing about true crime and this is one of the best channels I’ve heard. Love these strange, crazy but true stories. thank you bringing them the attention they deserve 😊
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR TIME EFFORT AND LOYALTY THAT YOU PUT INTO TELLING THESE STORIES BLESS YOU 🙏🏽
Thank you!!
@@EvilIntentions YOUR WELCOME
@EvilIntentions
Me too, great job 👏
I remember this horror. I was a teenager. Great Narration. 🙏🏻
Great job.
25 years to life for such a horrid crime!? The death penalty would've been appropriate. RIP Herbie
He's dead not free!
@@psychobitch61 yea my bad

Another great episode Jose! I also grew up here in New York City in the 80's. I don't know if you remember but there was a case that happened here in the early 90's i believe, where a man was attacking people with a hammer. I think one of his victims was riding the subway when he attacked her. I don't remember if the guy was ever caught. The press here in NY nicknamed him the hammer.
The cop forgot his gun. Just unbelievable.
Damn I’m not even a minute in and I see this!!!
No gun??
Yeah, but way to improvise when it counts
@@sakaiahreign3365no gun gang cop almost went out sad glad he was on 50 tho
He didn’t believe them either. The mortician showed more calm and professionalism.
How about the other people he released didn’t call the police …
Very crazy I was just looking through my footage of that case. It's coming.
That was a sad one! I never forgot that story, especially because he ran after a kid and got shot by some gang bangers. Horrific 😢
This is just freaking amazing he did all of that in one night, this guy was on a straight-up mission.
My brother's killer did 24 years and been out here running around somewhere still far as i know. We were only kids, he was only 13 shit is crazy. If you kill someone on purpose you should have to stay in there.
RIP Herbie my heart goes out to the family
Coke is a hell of a drug. I rode past this spot yesterday, and I'm just at aw. Another area you have me telling stories to someone. You're the man, Jose. Keep it going! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I was only 9 when this gruesome murder happened but I would never forget it because it happened on my birthday, I can’t believe how New York has some of the worst crime laws, nothing less than life is appropriate for a crime so heinous
😮
I was too, and lived not too far from the bar. This is such a horrible crime, yet I never heard about it. It’s odd, because my parents were avid readers, we had to read the newspaper everyday. It’s creepy just how often I walked past there, and never knew. NYC in the 1980’s was a different beast.
@@Msboochie2 it sure was
I was 8 days old but I’m from Jamaica and always heard about this. Smh
But he never was released. They decided he was too fucked up, and wasn't remorseful enough most likely, not taking responsibility for what he did.
I live in the Bronx and can’t wait to move out!!!!!!
No.. you're not forgotten ..R.I.P.
I still can’t believe the other two ladies that left first didn’t call the cops right away
So many sick stories like this in NYC. I love this channel. Im from Harlem. Heard my fair share of mess but these other boroughs are wild
What I can’t believe is the two people he let go didn’t call the police. He was there for over 2 hours after he let the first person go and no police showed up. And 25 years to life for all that. This entire story is insane.
Exactly?? I was thinking the same thing smh
Just think if no one else was there or lived to tell the truth would they have solved it?
My favorite Narrator always Have Good Stories love Your Voice
I was in my 30's when I left NYC in 1987. I still miss the museums, parades, Chinatown, little Italy, flushing Meadows, and the food
My condolences to the family on their lost 😢 rest in paradise to Herbie Cummings🙏🏽😇🙏🏽🌹🌹🌹
I can’t believe the First Lady that was let go didn’t call the police. To try and save the other people left behind. I don’t care how scared or shocked your safe now but them other two women where not
I agree‼️she should be ashamed
He probably had her address and she thought he would leave after killing everyone.
@@Cynthia_Xthat is bullshit.
I thought the same thing!
Yessss I though the same smh
New sub and found this channel by accident (recognized you from the music industry 😊). It’s now one of my top 3 true crime channels. I appreciate the way you present each event. As a Native New Yorker I also appreciate the footage from the 70s. Curious as to how you pick each one.
Haha that's dope! Honestly, for me I normally have some videos already written or done.for a while and I try to choose based off how the audience is feeling. I know how heavy the child abuse cases can be so I try to give viewers a break between those. For the last year I've covered mostly cases I remembered from way back. Thank you for the kind words! Glad your enjoying the channel!
This is very crazy. My deepest condolences to those that were involved and witnessed this horror😢😞
It’s been a long time since I’ve thought of that headline, and the first time I learned about the details. Thanks man!
Another eye opening video. Thank you. I’m not from New York but the way you tell these stories & the clips you use really help tell these stories that need to be told. I really enjoy the movie clips you’ve been adding to your videos so thanks for including the names & although it never bothered me I appreciate & respect your choice to start blurring out the faces of the interviews. Shows you just are as respectable as the way you speak and share these stories. Thank you for all the hard work. So glad I subscribed. I wish it wasn’t under such sad stories but these need to be told because these things keep happening unfortunately. Lets keep talking about it until the senseless violence and abuse stops.
To everyone reading if you see something please say something. Stay safe and blessed everyone
Amazing narration and putting this unknown story shedding light on a jaw dropping story from the depths of the crime ridden NYC of that era!! Looking forward to more interesting content like this on your channel Sir!!
Wow 😮 two women were let free and they didn’t call the police?! New York was really unbelievably insane
What scumbags they were.

Thank you for your compassion towards the families of the victims that you feature on your channel. I really like the way you tell these stories. The way that you make us connect to the victims and their families, I usually end up a bit teary-eyed after listening. Don’t stop giving the spotlight to these people and their stories!
I really love how well constructed all of your videos are. With Showing actual footage, the introduction ,the narrating ,editing, everything in your videos ,shows your passionate about delivering these stories. You deserve an opportunity for a television spot .These Videos are far more interesting than watching repetitive stories with re enactments on crime tv channels and your compassion for the victims is present in all of your work as well .I also love hearing stories about old new york a decade before I was born there .Thank you for bringing these stories to light and the research you do Jose keep up the good work
Cant believe ive never heard of this case. The headline sounds vaguely familiar but the story was completely new to me. You did a good job at being respectful and recognizing this happened to real people.
What a truly bizarre tale of unbridled horror. Very well-done, too. Subscribed.
With all the crime channels this is one of the best. You bring a new sazon!

I never thought I would hear about this story again. I know Herb family.
You did a good job with your presentation. Thank you brother.
25 years to life??! He should have been sentenced to LWOP. He's a psychopath and I am so glad his parole was denied every time he went up for it. I hope Herbie's wife and the manager have healed from this trauma and are doing well in life. May he continue to rest in peace. 💛💫
I just found this channel, starting with the story of the teacher Jonathan Levin. Very well down and respectful. So professional and empathetic.😥😥😥💔💔💔
What a rollercoaster of a story...the cop "forgot his gun" in Columbus Circle, my goodness!
In the 80s!.. How CrAzY is that?!
I love the sound of your voice and the way you tell the stories of those who have no voice. Thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the first video I’ve seen from you, I’m only half way thru but already super impressed!! I loved how you set the scene by telling the story of LES in the 70s/80s and the punk rock/hardcore scene that was taking place then. The 100% accuracy in that information let’s me know that you definitely report the facts and present them in a entertaining and captivating way. Keep up the good work brother!
You are truly one of the best on TH-cam.
Thanks so much! Truly appreciate that!

Ok..this man is a creature from up above. The emotional rollercoaster I go on watching his video is CRAZY. He has to be a director of movies or something. I mean from the musiic, his voice, choice of words. Its AMAZING. HE IS THE BEST TH-camR HANDS DOWN.
Well… Hot damn.
I started to watch this episode. Paused it, so I can myself dinner. Met my mom in the kitchen. I told her that I was watching this. I reminded her of the NY Post front page headline. Then I tell her that I didn’t know that it took place in Jamaica (we’re both natives of South Jamaica, Queens).
My mom goes “Oh yeah! I knew the guy who did it too! He used to run with your uncles Gerald & Greg! You know they know criminals.’
Me: 😧
That's crazy.
@@Randomperson16-q4j I should’ve known better bc my uncles were… wild and lawless during this time. They mingled with criminals. Anything that happened in Queens, they would know the perps.
