- This is a very general guide to Age of Mythology. I try to touch on everything to some degree but this video is mostly just a stream of consciousness so it might not be amazing. Let me know what you think.

Age of mythology was my favorite game as a young kid. It's been something that I always played either alone or on LAN with my close friends and family, and even then I didnt play much after age 10-11. Finding this channel has been awesome and rekindled my love for the game, and this video is awesome for someone who played the game as a young kid non-competitively. More Please!
Never played competitively myself... still endlessly fun game w no skill ceiling. Maybe some day I'll hope online 😅
Almost exact same story here lol…. Played some multiplayer on steam once I could reliably beat a hard AI so I thought I might do passably well… holy shit I’m bad lmao
So true m8
First i found bolt i went and wach his camping playtrough😂😂love it
Anything you post, I'll watch. If AoM was mainstream, you'd have millions of subscribers. Keep up the great work!
It will get a good boost when it comes out to xbox in september!
Just started playing last week after watching some of your videos. I played as a kid
Hell yeah! A beginner guide! Helps because I have no fucking idea what I'm doing when I play this game. I love when you end up explaining reasoning behind what you are doing... Like how trade routes work or what the purpose of another town center is... :)
Please, PLEASE, do a version of this for hotkeys!! I'm a generic level player from the old days, but I never really learnt some very important hotkeys, such as: screen rotation (when you check wood villies, but are able to reset the camera), garrison units vs. repair vs. empower, setting villies to build regardless of damage taken, etc.
a run down on when to build certain units would be nice. Like heroes vs myth, archers, vs spearmen. along with an explanation of pierce armor, hack armor, crush dmg, etc,. That's something that took me a long time to really understand.
I'm in the beginning stages of making an army control/composition video.
Dude, more of these kind of videos would be great!
Even as a moderately experienced player, i would appreciate fundamentals content that is more broken down.
There's always something to learn :)
Boit please do a guide on how to not get bullied in the AoM server chats
Be the bully
Just start reciting unit stats from memory. That'll scare em. 💪
@@JD.......... Hah good one
😂😂😂
All of this advice is bad. You really need to get your mom to tell the bullies to stop it.
@boit love, maybe, maybe you can cast some few, very few noobs games and ilustrate basic mistakes and what can be done better, like an "impouvement guide"
Thats a great idea, would be funny as well
Oh man that first villager saying "PROSHTEGAMA.. VOOLAMEH" it really brought back memories
Thank you so much for posting this. I played all the time in the early 2000's as a 9 year old kid and have very fond memories. This game is part of what caused me to become an atheist LOL. I've started playing again and have really been trying to learn the game in depth instead of just playing with cheats. Thanks for all you do, I hope your week is going well :)
This is a great Boit! This video is packed with useful information!
Yes more guide videos! I don't play online (usually too laggy to enjoy) but the things I have hard times with are water maps (just didnt play them much) and when to make trade caravans, and how many (also in AoM:EE the waypoint onto the TC you want to send them to doesnt work and they just spawn at the market and so I tend to forget that I have to manually send them all to trade). Like do I send some vills with my army to free up space for caravans, do I get 80 vills out, then make 20 caravans, more caravans for egypt than greek or norse. I feel like a large improvement for a lot of early/mid level players could be found from proper utilization of markets and trade caravans.
thanks to you improve my echo of noob this video help me immediately hopefully you can continue with these tips for noob
havent played this classic gem in so many years and i wanted to get back into it. this video helped me out, thanks bolt!
Hey Boit, really appreciate all you do on your channel and for the game! You’re the reason I’m back into AoM as an adult after loving it as a kid.
Videos like this are really helpful cos the speed at which you and the other top players play is so fast it’s sometimes hard to pick up everything.
A video I would like to see if possible would be about the mid-game decisions. I’ve seen you mention a couple times about it being better to stay 1tc or not advancing etc. this may be tricky as they’re reactionary but understanding why you’d choose to certain things as the game develops would be helpful.
Also sometimes you’ll say a “semi fast heroic”, “fast mythic” stuff like that and maybe just a quick summary explaining the times with which they fall? Fast mythic feels self explanatory but when is that good and why that.
Maybe I’m just rubbish and chatting out my ass but would really appreciate if you could cover something like this. Cheers mate
Coming over from aoe2, there’s a lot i don’t understand.
1 - Why is it more beneficial to send vills all around the map gathering hunt, when you take in to account walking distance and not actually gathering. And also leaving them vulnerable to attack.
2 - how do you execute builds and get similar timings if RNG or map type screw you over and there’s next to no accessible hunt. It feels like there’s no exact build orders in this game
3 - why make so many production buildings when you don’t have the eco to maintain constant unit production from them all
Wow, the tips on using buttons like shift and right click, then control groups, omg I've been one of the biiigghheeesssttttt NOOOB for quite some time, this was one of the most helpful and best tutorial tips, I didn't even know that was possible 😂😂😂.
My brother, please more tutorials
This was my first Age game. Everyone is harping on about AoE2, but AoM is No.1 for me. It made me fall in love with the whole Age series, and still to this date, it's my favorite game out of all 5 of them.
Great content! I really enjoyed the video, I would love to see a guide on how to defend and not lose the army randomly if is possible and if you have the time 🙏😊
Please more videos of that type, Boit! :D
Yeeees!
More of These pleasee
Thank you! Learning a lot
Thank you very much for this video
thanks for this.. very good and useful.
Can you do one on these different styles? 1 town center. Fast upgrading ages. How to go big army Strong Late game. How to win in under 15 minutes.
thanks i beat hard diffuculty in retold with this guide easily
🌟 FUNDAMENTALS 🌟
thanks for your commitment to this title B
AoM was my favorite RTS. Warcraft was close but played way more AoM. I'd get my Viking rolling settlement and burn a pillage and leave a wake of destruction behind me.
Not me watching this after playing this game for +15years
Not going to lie, kind of depressed that we’re probably going to have to wait until at least 2024 or even as far as 2026 for retold. For that amount of time, I don’t even *want* a remake, I want a sequel factoring in how long it’s been since the original and then adding on a wait that goes on until possibly 2026.
Love this game. Wish multiplayer worked
I've played this game for years, but I've never dared set foot in the online scene. Maybe three games total.
I have been wondering, since I am a beginner… how do the raids work. I tend to just sit back and build my army up and then attacking
Could you run through a single "meta" build for each civ... Ie (explain what the specific civs strengths are and generally how we take those advantages with said civs into practice with each build.) An example would be in an Isis gameplay.... I am never really sure exactly why or when the prosperity is useful as I under stand it is a strength of Isis; whereas Ra is alot more simple to use/setup rain to your advantage. Or how to abuse Hades and his stronger archers/buildings, or Kronos with time shift shenanigans. It would be amazing to see more "walk through builds" that anyone can go back to to refresh themselves on the general meta.
My 'meta' builds are available through my patreon or if you just want the cheat sheet you can subscribe on twitch or be a member on youtube, join the discord and you'll have access to them! :)
@@BoitTV Sick! Thank you!
Hey this was a great video, it would be nice if you can follow up with a beginner series on simple strats/BO for each god. Also did't understand what is the golden rule at 21:46 "Once you have a 115 supply at houses, in the classical age, that's the time to build your armory" does it mean when you are at 115 population? maybe i'm hearing wrong and maybe it means when you get to 150 wood in classical build armory?
Yeah, once you get to full population in the classical age, it's a good idea to throw your armory down! :D
Thank you!
I'd love for you to do guides. I've been playing since the day it came out and I swear I'm lacking HALF the information there is...
hey boit thanks for the advice first of all,
I wanted to ask how you got your game ui this way?
I learned Isis then went to Gaia for my main, wanted to try Ra and I could hardly play, but I like late game Ra (and eco odin and Gaia)
Figured it out tho
Einhejar is my favorite unite , so cool
So many cool one's to choose from, for me:
Classical: Sphinx
Heroic: frost giant
Mythic: Hekka Gigantes or Collosus
(And my favorites change occasionally ha)
As a top dm player.. you do actually max out on villagers immediately in dm
I imagine they aren't for economy but for spamming out all the buildings. As Norse you would probably only need to go to 60 or so.
Hey, great video! I'm wondering what mods are you using to make your UI / HUD look like that? It seems so much cleaner than the deafult one!
Nice guide! Now I can try it and maybe finally win against hard AI haha What about guide for raiding and map control?
this is great
Love this game, and I can win pretty easy 1vs1 AI moderate, but as soon as I get 2 vs 1..... It's a whole other storie
When should you start praying to the temple? To gain the favor of the gods?
Basically when you want to buy a myth unit, tech or building that costs favor you should start gathering favor before that. 😂
Excelente!
Would have been good to explain the favor resource and how you can spend it.
👍
Yo BoIt I've been considering of playing AOM again but what is this chinese update and why do you play on AOM The Titans and not Expanded?
is this the original version of age of mythology + Titians expansion? I have the age of mythology extended version on steam (not with the Chinese mythology expansion). Is there differences I should know about if I got this. Is the steam version bad or what and is there a way to play it without the original CDs? I got this game (steam version) on sale just before the retold edition will come out. Please respond as soon as you can if you want to.
This guide was done on the original titans game however it is applicable to Extended Edition as well. The steam version isn't 'bad' it just has some features that make it far less competitive than the original game such as networking. That being said, if you play someone fairly close to you (geographically) then you'll probably have a good game.
What was the purpose of multiple buildings with the same function? Like multiple barracks or armorys? You glossed over why that’s important, you just said that it was
I mean, why do you fucking think?
Maybe I missed this, but is there a time when the goal for 80 vills over military isn't optimal? Usually what I've been doing on 1v1s (like Ra Heroic, for example) has been 60 vills (30f 20g 10w) and put the rest of my pop toward military (usually because better units use higher pop space)
If you're going an infantry-archer build like Zeus it's not as major but if you're adding cavalry or some other high pop unit for a power spike (usually 3+ pop) the extra villagers will only give a surplus of resources when that pop can go toward army.
i usually go for less than 80 vills when im atlantean
How do you jump that fast to granary? Is it also some kind of control group? Because I don't see a blue line around any group banners during your granary jump
Control G!!
@@BoitTV Thank you
Thanks for the great guide.
Question: The donkeys take population right, so is it better to not make donkeys if you are pop capped? Do they make more gold per pop than villagers?
They do have pop.
Making caravans is always a good idea because they take zero attention (besides when you get raided - just redirect them) and they generate a ton of gold with no limit.
Caravan when they are getting 100 gold a trip are making more gold per second than fully upgrades villagers.
How do you play with voobly maps in single player ? Also my game doesnt show how many villagers are on a certain resource
You need to download the UI villager mod at the voobly page
@@igorvasconcelos951 ah alright, and do you know how can i play voobly maps in single player ? Voobly takes me to online lobby
Edit: Nevermind you can just go back to main menu and choose single player
Would you recommend me getting into the extended edition or into the voobly compatible version?
Completely up to you. Both work, EE is less sweaty though for sure 😂
tbh i only wanna know how you get AOMT into a fullscreen because adding the resolution to the shortcut isn't doing it for me
Alt+Enter
Do you will save the video in a playlist? :o
Good idea. :)
Wuu!
im new to the game, why do the tutorial on titans version and not on extended ?
It is effectively the same game, just happened to open TT when I was doing this.
Can you make sale for water pls
Prostagma
possible send png of those gods in thumbnail :)
rip dishu moosewala 😭
Why does aom looks so barren
Can we get some nu wa strats please bro
"Now is more important than later" is *not* a good life lesson, dafuq. That's exactly why we have climate issues, farming issues (here in the Netherlands), and a variety of other problems.
For me, AoM is on par with AoE2. Same stellar gameplay, just with a twist. I play almost every day againts A.I and i found one bizzare thing, i fucking suck anus at this game. Hope the Retold will balance everything and add new Mythologies to the roster.
