    Those lens covers DO TWIST OFF FYI! You can buff the lens but it most likely will never be the same again. That is in part due to the coatings that are on the lens. Shame we can buy the lens from the manufacturers to repair ourselves. Then there can be the issue with software/firmware settings after a new lens is installed. Perhaps calibrations are necessary so the two lenses look identical.

      My QC8K lasted a year before having to search for how to repair a dinged lens. Yes, tried buffing but the coating is a mess. Now I'm starting a used part search for a rear lens now that I see I can fairly easily replace it - thanks to Mr Bee (?). I realize it may introduce other problems but I'm willing to do the test. At this point in the product, if this inexpensive fix doesn't work I believe I will move on to a new camera with GPS and more video FPS options! I finally created a workflow to manually apply GPS and select frames for miles of streets at a time but it ain't pretty.

      How are the the lens covers removed/rotated. Standard righty- tightly, lefty- loosey ?
      Did you ever try to ‘replace’ the front lens and just see if the stitching algorithm was ‘self alighting’ or maybe the calibration that is done with camera stationary standing up on end?
      I basically have two 8K Enterprise units. One fell like yours. The other has vertical magenta bands on the front sensor. Appear in photo and video and both photo and video when saved to memory.
      Any chance that a plug could just have come loose ? How are sensor connections terminated on the SoC motherboard?
      Problem is that because both have damaged front sensors and you indicated different part numbers, so unlikely one ‘good’ one could be made from the two.
      Thank you very much for your video.

    Hey, cheers for the video and sorry for your loss. Could you perhaps give us details about the battery? Dimensions, capacity, details of connector and if replaceable by soldering or just bust one out and put another in click in connector?
    Another question is how exactly connect those fans to the heat sinks? Where and how many Heat sinks did you find and if additional heat pipes could be installed.
    What heats up the most? IR camera photos would be amazing as well to keep the Lenses cool to avoid heat focus issues. 😍😍😁😎

    Great Video man, DAMN.
    I have one on the way, I myself wanted to see the internals of the camera, Those little fans make some serious noise.
    Now we can see if there are any quiet mini fans like those for replacement and keep the noise levels down.

    I commented on your Facebook post about using a 1/4" X 12" threaded rod on the bottom of the selfie stick. The grass turf in the kite flying area would be good stable ground for that.

    • @kingbee1881
      @kingbee1881  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! A spike at the bottom of the selfie stick is a good idea for when it's on soft ground. Would save the edit time in post...and very secure.

    My qoocam 8k just suffered from the battery swelling up so now only lasts 15 seconds- 1min max on batter before it consists out.
    Of course you can't just.pick up a spare battery so I might have to think about buying another one to replace it the same as you did.

    Thanks for the insight! So... We have noticed some of the Kandao 8K cameras seem to focus at close distance, but not at infinity (so in headset, far away elements are soft). Curious to know if you saw any options to refocus the lens, allowing to focus to infinity...?

    • @kingbee1881
      @kingbee1881  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lens is sealed. I do want to try to unseal the lens and see what's inside, but I have not gone that far at this point. I assume there has to be some way to move the lens for focus...to account for differences in manufacturing.

      @@kingbee1881 I replace my QC8k because focus issues in both lenses, but the replacement one have the same problem in one lens. Very sharp at close distances but soft at infinity. Did you success in removing the seal?

    Hey King Bee, any chance for those specs of the battery? People are looking in to getting replacement alternatives as sending camera to repair centers is beginning to be a pain. Thanks in advance. Dimensions, connectors, soldering style, capacity, anything printed on the battery itself?

      @@paveldesort5657 So I contacted Kandao and they ask 17.5$ for the battery, which is quite fair price if you ask me.

      @@SilentlyPrickable that's indeed quite nice given many will have issues with bloating battery and its doable at home once the warranty runs out. Perhaps they could offer it online for anyone to order. And you could create a TH-cam video covering the battery replacement process.

      I have 2 qoocams. One has beautiful focus and the other has terrible focus. I emailed tech support and they told me that there was a batch of bad lenses that made it into some units. You should contact tech support.
