Hi- if you liked the thumbnail, you are going to love the channel! Garrett is a riot (lots of humour with his own type of sarcasm and snarkiness) with a ton of great advice, and a couple of cute dogs that make appearances!🙂
Love everything you said about pictures! I am a self taught artist and have sold pictures through word of mouth! I also just love that people actually want to put one of my pictures on their wall!
very very smart to pause photoshop and show us how it should be done right. Not just saying what is wrong but fixing it for us so we can SEE that is helpful ty
Hi Garrett, speaking of art fairs, my son recently went to one and won a first prize and a third price. He came by his talent naturally. My grandmother was an amazing artist and my son's father had artistic talent, too, although sadly, he didn't pursue it in any way. Being an artist is a absolute gift, one that many of us would dearly love to have. N
hi. i have 1949 mid century. agree with you about light. am handicapped/old so after pipe break reno i went to ikea bought what i call strip lights that you roll out. goes with house used to outline above window/walkway/above cabinets. leave on. helps me and shows off lines of my house. perfect❤. love your shoe
Hi! I would be happy to consult with you on these spaces. An hour should be enough time especially if you have most of your questions ready in advance. It’s also helpful when you make the booking to take advantage of the space allotted to write down areas of concern and things you want to discuss. All the available times listed are already in your time zone. I look forward to meeting you virtually. intro.co/garrettlechic 😊
New to you and love your ideas! I married a lighting snob who is also techie so now we have lights all on timers AND we can press buttons or verbally request various lighting scenarios, light "cloudy lights" or "reading lights" or "daytime lights"... Unfortunately, I am now also a lighting snob and other people's lighting now actively hurts. I have no idea why I'm doing emojis other than I'm GenX and apparently that is our thing... 🤕 💡
Good Morning Garrett, Thank you for the vlog. Basic but very important things to start with while doing your home. So thanks for putting this episode, because the walk through, window treatments and symmetry and balance does make a huge difference. That’s the start point and if you don’t get that right then everything else could be bit messy and one would fail to understand where are they going wrong. Have a wonderful weekend and see you soon 🤗🥰
Thank you for this great video! I LOVE that you always explain everything with examples and pictures- and sometimes Photoshop to show the difference. That’s amazing ❤️
The layout in my prewar NYC is eccentric to say the least. Nothing in the layout is symmetrical. Watching your videos gives me the information that I need to make the best of it.
Always great practical information and helpful guidance. I would say that balance and symetry are affected by the "weight" of items. Do you have a video about wallpaper? I'm thinking of removing my dated border in diningroom and putting wallpaper on the top third above new wainscotting, but don't want to get it wrong. What are trends in wallpaper?
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate your support. Wallpaper is a fairly big commitment. I’d be glad to see your space and discuss what you have in mind via a virtual consultation at intro.co/garrettlechic
I appreciate your insight on interior design. Do you give advice on interior design for a small apt. I would love to have your option for my living room. My style is bohemian maximum style. I love colors and different textures. I like watching the small NY apt. designs videos. I would love to have your advice. Thank you
Yes I do! I assist people with any size home from mansions to small living spaces. I’m glad to do a virtual consultation with you. Please feel free to book a consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic The available times you see are already in your time zone. 😊
Hello, and thank you so much for your very enjoyable and educational videos! I don't know if you have already commented on this: Is the trend of placing books into a bookshelf backwards over yet? I absolutely do not like that look!
You displayed some examples of lamps adjacent to sofas and stated that the lamps shown were too tall. What should be the ideal height of lighting adjacent to sofas?
I would have to see the sofas involved to give my opinion on what seize and height the lighting should be as every situation is different. I would also like to see the surrounding furniture, decor and the room size as that would factor into my opinion on lighting as well.
I work with what the client wants and is interested in incorporating into their home. I don’t push anything on anyone. Some may be interested in Feng Shui while others are not. Every situation is different. It’s not an “approval” process. It’s assisting people to achieve the aesthetic and functional space they are looking for to make them happy in their home which is different for everyone.
Garrett, we are building a house, our drywall is up, and I’m stuck at the color of the interior door handles and hinges. Every model home I go into has black. Is that going out of style soon? Is brushed nickel out of style. The doors are all white two panel shaker style.
I’m glad to assist with my opinions about your specific situation, but I’d have to see the home and have a discussion with you before I could offer intelligent suggestions. Please feel free to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic
One of the great things about being a less purchased from artist: I can play around with art until I get it right as I have a number of canvases I have painted things on that have not yet been purchased. (I see a few places in my office that need to be switched up.) Full disclosure: discovered my love of painting because I needed more artwork for my house, and just discovered I have a bit of a talent for it.
Update: paused the video to shift around the artwork in my office. Also added a piece to the other side of the window on the back wall. It's not at the same height as the other piece, but it's the same distance from the window on the other side, so it looks intentional. (I'm all about layering art height, in that I will put one piece up, and then put the next one on the wall a couple inches higher than the one next to it, so...)
Really need your positivity today. You are a light.
Thanks so much! Glad to be of help.😊
Ngl - clicked on this purely for the outrageously delightful thumbnail; I’m 15 secs in and know it’s gonna be a great watch and I’m gonna sub lol
That’s awesome and how people should subscribe! Welcome to the channel.

Using examples from what you've done in your own beautiful home in this discussion/video is so helpful.
Thanks so much!

I love the art behind you. Soo chic!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it. You can learn more about the artist in the description section of the video.😊
Can you do more than one room in a consultation? Would an hour be enough for a great room and questions on bathroom remodel?

💯💯 agree regarding warm lighting and dimmers. Your “troll in the dark corner” comment made me lol!
Thanks! Glad you liked that one. 😂
Yes, that comment about the troll in the dark corner really made me laugh!

Welcome to the channel! It sounds like you’ve got your lighting figured out. 😎
❤ Bad builder design with no internal AND external symmetry is my per peeve...unless it truly is a modern architectural style.

Do you use Feng Shui elements when "approving" the design of homes when you consult?
I work with what the client wants and is interested in incorporating into their home. I don’t push anything on anyone. Some may be interested in Feng Shui while others are not. I totally don’t have enough lighting in the large living room. Now that the Christmas tree is gone it’s so dark.
I cannot stand mismatched art frames displayed together....eye twitch...otherwise great video and visuals for real life practical design tips
To each their own. That’s fine. I don’t care for the same art frame on each piece as it looks kind of mundane and not very unique or curated.
Not a troll! 💀 🛋️
LOL I know!😊😊😊
You've got personality.
