This trap is for people with a large property like a farm and/or
an orchard who don't have time to keep driving their tractor over to check it.
You could have done the same thing with a Havahart 1083 EZ-Set trap.
Did you ever use this trap again ?
      I'm just curious.

@@ccdogpark my landlord is too cheap to fix the roof or even to fix the holes for that matter. The squirrels have chosen my attic as their spawn spot every year now. It gets a lot of action. Catch maybe 20-30 squirrels a year in it. Relocating the squirrels to a park 3 miles away.

The store I work for sells both, and every time we sell one, a week later we get raving reviews from them due to how well they work. We sell both Rat and Squirrel with the coupled basin buckets. And have even been shown personal images from a customer with 20+ in the rat version. I'll verify they work great for how simple they are.
And a fun fact, the Rat and Squirrel trap work differently from one another, due how rats and squirrels interact with objects and such.

Hi Shawn, I own the RatInitiator. It works good for big rats and squirrels and has a trap door in the center to put the food. The only problem is, is that small rats and mice can fit through the cage. The mice would go into it and eat all the food in the food area and then leave the trap. also medium mice go in to the trap through the door and would try and wedge there bodies out of the cage and get stuck and die. Then I would have to cut them out which was not fun. I got tired of doing this so I wrapped the cage and tie wired 1/4" mesh grid fence on all sides and now I catch tons of Mice Rats and Squirrels. A lot of the times I catch all three. Since i did that its the only thing I use on the ranch and even better the food never gets eaten because they can not access it. I thought you would like this. I watch your videos all the time.

I bought two of these. Squirrels were getting into my garage and damaging my cars. These traps do work as advertised :-)
Though I'd suggest that you set it on a plywood base to keep the bait dry when the ground gets damp, and a plywood cover to keep the bait dry when it rains.
The squirrels also have a tendency to push the trap around trying to escape, so put a lip or wood tabs on the plywood base and top...

From observations around my yard one type nests in ground burrows (usually near nut trees--walnut or oak) often under clusters of rocks or in tall grass; the other type nest up in the trees. Seems they go for the same types of food, with the ground squirrels foraging produce falling from the trees, and don't seem to climb them.

We have an ongoing squirrel problem in our yard. We paid a wildlife trapping company $300 last year to help rid our rodent problem. All they did was bring a squirrelnator trap out and toss down some sunflower seeds as bait. It worked great and over 7 days we caught 10 squirrels. But this year, I’ve bought my own trap $40 and I can use it and reuse it anytime I see the squirrel problem getting out of hand.

What do you bait it with

I bought a Haveaheart one. The squirrel 🐿️ has some how figured out how to get the food bait and get out. I wake up every morning, the Door is closed and locked with the food gone.
    No squirrels caught 👎

What you guys use for bait? Mine so far haven’t touched the mixture of nuts.

    2:37 - don’t care for springs - I have a HAVaHART trap ;
and it is impressive how hard squirrels will slam their body against the door .

Works very well for California ground squirrels! I use chicken scratch for bait. Chicken feed is Very cheap and does not stink, or decompose quickly. Caught three the fist day. I recommend. It. And it looks like it will Last.

The squirrelinator sounds like an invention Doofenshmirtz would come up with.

Wouldn't this be good food source for hawks and owls? They protect garden right?

I’ve only caught two at a time at most. Used shelled peanuts 🥜 for bait one and the just scooped them up from the top of the trap.

that would be a worthwhile video, especially if were talking 1900fps plus.

Funny looking squirrels. What part of the country is this filmed in?

Andy Kidwell they are ground squirrels. I believe he’s in Oregon. Our family shoots them for a bunch of ranchers in Nevada, they make big holes and ruin alfalfa fields. And their holes cause huge problems with cattle.

I would love to see a side by side of the Squirrelinator and the Ratinator. I see only a couple of differences namely the number of doors and the feed box from pictures. I got the Ratinator earlier this year and am pretty happy with it. The plates that protect the handles sure are nice because some of those rats are very aggressive. I caught a few big ones that had become trap shy of my tomcat style snap traps. Thanks for the testing these for us.

The “Squirrelinator” reminds me of phineas and ferb
