Things like that are probably why the Jedi need to end... can't dismiss an entire group of emotions just because you want to feel peace 100% of the time. Better to make use of all of them imo.
Dam dude, you outdid your self with this video. My entire child hood i was put into all sorts of places because of my anger issues. I was taught for years that anger was bad and to suppress it entirely. Now i no longer feel anger which i thought was a good thing, However I have massive problem with lacking any drive and passion to do anything. I remember having so much energy back then and i always wondered what happend to it. Now i think i might know. Thank you for this video.
I went through something similar , until it transformed into constant panic attacks and anxiety. that's when I had to get some counseling sessions with a psychiatrist who helped me change many of my perspectives , and deal with it. When it comes to emotions he always told me not to suppress anything. if we swallow emotion , it stays there. emotions are like thousands of tiny mental constructions (thoughts) that get into our subconscious. they are there in the same way as we know how to ride a bike. like burnt in little thoughts. So we need to put it out, bring it out in the physical world. if we don't, it comes out by itself when we less want, when we less expect, like suddenly going berserk when someone asks for something futile, or simply by physical nervous compulsions / nervous twitches and stuff like that. Theres only one trick tho, one way or another the mind doesn't separate how we let those emotions out, its all the same when it comes to our brain. so we may choose. if we are in a meeting and someone says something we don't like about a specific topic , and we go crazy mad and start screaming like animals, the mind releases that emotion, and we chill. but if we choose a moment get a pillow , and we fuck the shit out of that pillow with all our emotion (rage in this case) until we get exhausted, the mind is also satisfied. the same release was possible , and we chill. even tho those varie in terms of "relief degree" , they allow us to keep it stable , while we do our homework of understanding why those emotions are there, and "debunk" them. we have to think why we feel it (what thoughts make us feel those emotions) , and rationally see why they shouldn't affect us that much, or in many cases, aren't even logical and we just never questioned it deep enough! if we do that, while choosing when to get our anger releases , the path is open again. the more we understand , the less powerful those emotions become. the more we choose when to release those emotions in ways that don't harm anyone or shame us , the less reasons we have to feel them, and the clearer our mind becomes to understand them. its a big snowball when its going down....but its also a big positive avalanche of positive chain reactions when we get the trick. suddenly our acts are helping our mind and self confidence, and our mind and self confidence our acts ;d when it comes to games its easy. turn that anger into determination. sorry for the huge text, I cant speak about this topics without saying it all. this ideas helped me a lot and still do :P
My friends always tell me that I am a quick learner, especially when it comes to gaming. They ask me how I am always calm and collected when I get outplayed or totally destroyed. Truth is I am pissed because I am a very competitive person. But somehow I unconsciously channel those emotions into motivation rather than being physical. I never actually thought about this being a "drive" until now, and I gotta say it to you, Zy, keep it up with these videos. You are amazing.
I get angry pretty fast when I'm losing, but there's a few rock hard rules I established for myself that I never break: 1. Never directly yell at someone. I may yell what I wanna say to the other person (no matter if teammate or opponent) at the screen, but always with Push-to-talk off. And if you need to vent it out in chat or comms, always blame a mechanic or lag or whatever, even if everybody knows that's not the reason at least you got to let it out and nobody got hurt. 2. Never Ragequit. The reason you rage is (probably) because you care about winning. Ragequitting makes you lose. You're defeating your own point and should probably be more mad at that button press than at the game before it because there still was some tiny chance to win the latter. 3. Unless you're under time pressure, keep playing until you're in a somewhat good mood again. Be that through a win or an honestly exciting and fair loss. In the back of my mind I fear that if I quit after a bad match I will be less likely to boot the game up again the next day because I'll subconsciously assume it isn't fun. Also this way you don't carry your anger into real life. They sound pretty basic but it can get REALLY hard to always follow them. Do other people have similar stuff?
I really enjoy these videos. I just want you to know that. I never expected the last one, Set your Narrative, but I'm really glad I didn't skip it. Same with this one. Good stuff, Rocket Jump Ninja. Keep it up!
I must say, you've given me far better advice than my parents or ANY psychiatrist/counsellor I've ever had in life with your "get good" series. And fuck me this video hit home, I am JUST like that angry -> depressed guy you spoke of in the video: I went from fighting my chronic illness (GERD/ibs/ibs/whateveritFUCKINGis for 4 & 1/2 years now for the curious, dysfunctional bladder too for like 3 years having poor sleep on a regular because of it) and wanting to push for a better life to...a jaded, emotionless, despondent wreck who's just accepted defeat as it's happened SO many times to me I'm like "what's the point? There'll always be some stupid trolling from life to sabotage my good efforts!" Even state doctors (i.e. the NHS) have just given up on me now, it's ridiculous and I'll never have the money for private ones who WILL fix me properly. That was the straw that broke the camel's back to be honest mate, seeing THEM give up made me want to fully give up on myself too given all I'd been through. Losing your job and being forced to move back in with your mother at the age of 26 thanks to said illness was reason enough to try and end my life, at times I wish I had succeeded (there's a lot of messed up shit that happened, like being framed and chucked out of uni, being technically homeless for 4 months son I went through HELL and I'm STILL here!!! Makes me feel like fucking Doomguy at times haha!). I'm 28 now and feel like a fucking has-been compared to who I was before, from one of the best C# programmers in my class at uni and cardio/parkour enthusiast to someone who can barely run a mile thanks to bad ankles and someone who doesn't study/push himself as hard as he used to. Sure, my strength's improved and I can fingertip pressup on CONCRETE without a lotta effort (took so many weeks of training to nail the precursor steps), but I feel like I've lost my way, I've lost who I was. These kind of videos give me hope though, without them I'd feel lost like the guy you mentioned Zy. It's a nice reminder that NOT everyone is an arsehole, there's good people out there. Like yourself. Keep up the great content, it's nice to hear an outside perspective from someone who isn't bound to protocol/bureaucracy like medical professionals on how to level up in life. Take care and peace.
Good explanation, I usually don't get angry playing games, yes sometimes frustrated but very rarely angry, but from what you have said about using that anger slowly rather than fully might be handy in life.
thank you for being the first person to every let me know my anger is ok. My whole life ive been told I have anger issues. But I only ever get angry when I have to defend myself. It was not my fault I got put into situations where people hurt me for fun. But when I get mad, its me thats wrong. Anyone who tells you that anger or rage is wrong, are pretty much bullies, or trolls, and enjoy controlling situations by "I never have to be right, all I gotta do is make the other person mad, then focus on their anger making them even madder!" Your right. Rage, or ANGER is the number one thing that makes a person change their life, make change for others, or start something that changes everything. You think anyone who was not raging or angry would protest? Politicians usually become what they are because they are angry at how the system is and want to change it. People become police officers because they are angry at how society is and want to change it. People in charge want everyone to be afraid of anger, they want everyone with no drive, motivation or want to change
Once again, this was really inspirational. I really hope you'll be writing more books in the future, because the skill to use words like you do in this video are really rare and valuable. Keep going!
This; once I learned to be more calm while playing over time I noticed improving dramatically however using anger as a drive is something I never considered.
Thank you Zy. I often forget to stop and ask if I am using my emotions effectively. I've finally began to exercise and try things even if they seem hard. Good luck to everyone. Keep trying. 🙂
Another great video, Zy. Thanks for taking something that most people trivialize and helping people see how to not only become better gamers, but better people in general. We need more youtubers like you!
I've always seen anger as energy when controlled the correct way zy, nice to see that I'm not the only one that see the emotion or expression of such an emotion as a bad thing. Keep up the good work zy.
You are honestly the most underrated youtuber ever! I love your mental videos and your mouse reviews! Glad that i found you... I Got better at Quake by watching your videos! Keep up the good work😃
i never comment on videos, but i just wanna say yeah it’s an effective motivator. and at the same time it’s a complete hindrance. when it’s all said and done you’re more right than me since having emotions is linked with being human, but imagine if you didn’t feel their pull. if someone was trying to hurt your family, you wouldn’t even care, and that’s the end of that. if you had no aspirations, it wouldn’t matter because you simply don’t care. seems easygoing. if we’re all animals with emotions, then we’re bound to compete to get what we want. it’s like gods threw us into a cage match against each other and look down on us. we can’t do anything besides stay true to our instincts in this situation, so we feel pain over and over again hoping to taste true victory until we fail and we’re ultimately gone. and when i say fail, i mean that once you satisfy one urge, another one resurfaces no matter how accomplished you are. what’s wrong with trying to transcend that? even if we can’t, at least minimizing it. aspirations might be necessary but having them won’t ever stop you from being hurt.
The title of this series should have been "How To Git Gud" anyways great video Zy, sometimes i rage so i can instantly forget whatever lost in a match so i can easily move on which made me feel better
This is true not only in gaming but in live overall. Bottled up emotions are far worst. We are i the age where being aggressive, competitive etc are deemed to be toxic and we all should be touchy feely all the time. It's BS Great vid Zy.
You missed the point of the video, because Zy himself said that being aggressive and using your anger in a way that's deemed toxic is 'destructive'. We shouldn't be touchy-feely all the time, but we should be considerate and leave anger to where it belongs.
I have learned to what I call palm tree, the tree sees more stress the longer it gets but gets a good rush out of the wind, in other words it's like being scorched by hot water then feeling a cold chill
I get mad when gaming sometimes just like anyone else. But one thing that's changed for me is how I channel my anger. I used to play on a shitty membrane keyboard and a cheap mouse, so I'd give one or the other a good smack when I got pissed. I realized how stupid I probably look when I do so, so I got myself a nice g810 and g502 so that hitting my peripherals wouldn't be an option. I was able to immediately quit taking out my rage on my m&k, and that helped me use my anger to fight like you said. Now, when I meet a griefer im GTAO or something, I use that rush of anger to start a 1v1. Regardless of if I win or lose, I'll tell my opponent "hey you're pretty good at sniping, gg" or something and nine times out of ten, they'll be like "ay thanks." That feels pretty good, and I find myself enjoying games more.
im glad im not the only person that uses rrage in every day life ,every point you made is the same opinion i have upon rage .And i wanna say thank you for that
Anger has been something I managed to succeed with and only really comes out in video games, other than that I'm totally calm and rarely when I do enter "rage mode" I strangely do REALLY good within that burst of feeling and my aim, reaction time and game sense are that much better than what they normally are.
Zy I am going to try and catch you on stream and thank you personally for making this video. I am guitarist of all styles, former athlete, and massive fps fan/improving player. Music was my life, I almost have a degree in it, but self directed anger has sapped my enjoyment while practicing new and challenging things. If you bottle the rage, depression will follow as it has in my life. With rage there is intense passion and caring. I am learning to harness that potential energy for good instead of self destruction. Thank you for the inspiration.
Now whenever I lose or the chances of winning are slim, I use my anger as a way to channel it into training or w/e to see what I did wrong and fix it. So far it hasn't helped in the slightest but hey at least I'm not smashing my keyboard xD
Anger can cloud judgement and encourages tunnel vision on one thing rather than seeing the big picture. I agree anger can be a driving mechanism and in a real fight may give a person more adrenaline and or power, but sometimes it can lead to making poor decisions that can lead to your downfall.
I focus my rage into observation, observing is just doing everything you would normally, but *closely* . Figure out what you believe needs improvement, and continue to improve. If don't see a problem with what you are doing and you still lose, think of something more, something that can help you improve in some type of way. *Observe* .
Tilt the bottle sideways 45 degrees. Much of the energy in the bubbles will be dissipated on the sides leading to far less violent expansion when they hit the surface allowing you to open the cap quickly.
In this video: RJN makes a case for the dark side :P For real though, I think these more philosophical videos are very interesting. The one you did about self-improvement was actually really inspiring. Funny how much wisdom can be extracted from something as “trivial” as a competitive shooter game.
Loving this series, it really helps a lot! That is, when I can get past my competitive anxiety xP Curious if you could either make a video on that or just reply to this comment. I understand the general best advice is "just play anyway" but didn't know if you might have anything to add lol
There is that one hero in league of legends, her name is Akali and she has that one line which suits to the topic of this vid: "Don 't waste your anger, channel it" I think the only reason I m mentioning it is cuz I m a main xd Anyways thanks for another wholesome vid dude
anger exists naturally so that you're able to defend yourself if a hyena bites a lion, the lion gets mad, it kills the hyena. a lion without the ability to feel anger would feel sad, or scared. it would never attack the hyena, and the hyena would kill the lion without a fight. it's natural to feel anger in a game when you're losing, because competitive games are just simulated fights.
Getting angry or raging is the worst thing that can happen to a competitive gamer IMO. You will never be in control when raging I don't even think its possible to "turn it into something good". You train your brain to shut down and rage instead of continuously processing information at a good rate, that's one of the hardest habits to get rid off (In my experience much harder than even quitting smoking after 10 years).
a tip to all people who rage and get angry playing games: NOBODY is absolutely angry of nature, your stress levels are probably sky high, that is terrible and absolutely ruins your health, I used to be a very angry and grumpy guy until I started relaxing more and letting go of my stress, that absolutely helped me in every aspect of my life and improved my gaming skills tremendously, stay healthy, guys
I've always had issue with someone getting angry at me and my aim becomes complete garbage and I start getting shaky, this may be a bit of a different topic but when dealing with rage from my team I can't find a way to just ignore the person who keeps calling me out on a team or at least consciously .
I lost all my emotions 3 years ago... tho... I still feel anger as the only emotion. Feeling nothing but anger... needing to control it... the need to act like a normal human being even tho it drain me... just annoying:/
Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering
Things like that are probably why the Jedi need to end... can't dismiss an entire group of emotions just because you want to feel peace 100% of the time. Better to make use of all of them imo.
We will never join the dark side.
i find your lack of faith disturbing
Zy is a Grey Jedi confirmed.
Rocket Jump Ninja YOU WHERE THE CHOSEN ONE!
Your psychology gaming videos are actually pretty cool
Glad you like them!
Zychology.
It would be cool if he made a series of psychology gaming videos like this and titled it "Zychology"
Dam dude, you outdid your self with this video. My entire child hood i was put into all sorts of places because of my anger issues. ur dumb, fist fite me
Instructions unclear, house on fire
this is fine.
thats normal
doesn't matter if your house is fire.... PUT IT OUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON TH-cam
I'm loving these philosophical videos. I honestly never thought of anger as a positive.
oliver just your political compass disgusts me. yuck!
you're telling me.
It's a bit of a meme thought it was a bit too extreme
My friends always tell me that I am a quick learner, especially when it comes to gaming. They ask me how I am always calm and collected when I get outplayed or totally destroyed. Truth is I am pissed because I am a very competitive person. But somehow I unconsciously channel those emotions into motivation rather than being physical. I never actually thought about this being a "drive" until now, and I gotta say it to you, Zy, keep it up with these videos. You are amazing.
I get angry pretty fast when I'm losing, but there's a few rock hard rules I established for myself that I never break:

Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words and support, will continue to make these as long as people want them!
I must say, you've given me far better advice than my parents or ANY psychiatrist/counsellor I've ever had in life with your "get good" series.
+TheLogicalBeast glad they're helping, will definitely make more. Thanks and wish you all the best!
Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.
You don't know the power, of the dark side.
Good explanation, I usually don't get angry playing games, yes sometimes frustrated but very rarely angry, but from what you have said about using that anger slowly rather than fully might be handy in life.

This is a topic I've never come across on TH-cam before but I thought about it myself. Glad to hear you speak about it.
I never thought I'd say this, but I finally found a video series that I like more than your mouse reviews, and its still from your channel.
Awesome!
yeah but whenever I'm angry I just become terrible at everything I do in game and I can't concentrate on anything
Keep up the good work zy.
almost like the heros fall books
I came for the reviews but I stayed for the life advice. I seriously think you're one of the best TH-camrs out there please keep up the good work.
You are honestly the most underrated youtuber ever! I love your mental videos and your mouse reviews! Glad that i found you... I Got better at Quake by watching your videos! Keep up the good work😃
I came for help with anger management. I left knowing how to open a bottle of soda water. 5/7
Wow perfect score, thanks!
Top marks for top content! You're the man!

this was a very good talk.
The title of this series should have been "How To Git Gud" anyways great video Zy, sometimes i rage so i can instantly forget whatever lost in a match so i can easily move on which made me feel better
Nice one man again. You keep up with the good story. It's a struggle to make yourself to be calm in those situations.
This is true not only in gaming but in live overall. Bottled up emotions are far worst.

Always good to learn from you, Darth Zy!
Geez. I subscribed to your channel to see pro gameplay but now im getting much more. Please keep on making content in that direction.
I have learned to what I call palm tree, the tree sees more stress the longer it gets but gets a good rush out of the wind, in other words it's like being scorched by hot water then feeling a cold chill
I went on your channel for a lancehead review, but i'm gonna stay here for you, i love your way of thinking man...
I don't even play Quake, but I've probably watched every single Quake video on your channel. You have a great personality :^)
Moral of the story: If someone pisses you off, turn super saiyan and kick their asses
Anger seems like the negative side of passion. Passion is what you need. Anger could provide it.
I love these videos, they are both teaching you how to play games and also teaching you things about life
I get mad when gaming sometimes just like anyone else. But one thing that's changed for me is how I channel my anger. these videos you come up with Zy are great. 👍🏽👌🏽I have never heard any other gaming channels give these type of tips.
this might be the best video you've ever made!
had a bitter round earlier, thanks zy for coincidentally uploading this
im glad im not the only person that uses rrage in every day life ,every point you made is the same opinion i have upon rage .And i wanna say thank you for that
When you are in the midst of your own uncontrollable anger,
*teabag*
this made me rage less in video games for the past month now, nice.
It's almost like in the hero's fall books where Jaden put his rage to good use and used it to wield Dajuarn energy
Always love a mention of The Heroes Fall books!
Your channel is really changing the way I see everything
Anger has been something I managed to succeed with and only really comes out in video games, other than that I'm totally calm and rarely when I do enter "rage mode" I strangely do REALLY good within that burst of feeling and my aim, reaction time and game sense are that much better than what they normally are.
I can feel your anger. It makes you stronger, gives you focus.
Good to hear! Long live Time Centaur's keyboard.
xD :D
Yo I did what you did but I shout and that's how I ascend into a Super saiyan 3 :D
DemonPheonix xD I wish I could do that when I got angry. Instead I slam stuff and end up hurting myself. I really need to work on it :/
Time Centaur yeah :D
RJN's voice is all i need to soothe my rage
Such a great video, the sofa-water analogy is excellent :)
im enjoying your videos more and more each time your videos come out.
I needed some more quake therapy
Love the new style of videos
Anger can cloud judgement and encourages tunnel vision on one thing rather than seeing the big picture. I agree anger can be a driving mechanism and in a real fight may give a person more adrenaline and or power, but sometimes it can lead to making poor decisions that can lead to your downfall.
This was so nice. Now I really should stop being extremely negative and raging both in game and in real life. Thanks!
You're so beyond gaming, love it :)
I love your videos, thank you for these.
wow the start of your video is like describing my life completely.
I love your videos, man. Keep up the good work. :)
In this video: RJN makes a case for the dark side :P
For real though, I think these more philosophical videos are very interesting. The one you did about self-improvement was actually really inspiring. Funny how much wisdom can be extracted from something as “trivial” as a competitive shooter game.
Very informative video, i'll try to remember this next time I have troll teammates in CS:GO, thanks Zy.
M_RiGGz Not sure if it works with csgo Russian griefers who have no clue what youre saying :D
Very true you have a higher
understanding
I like the way you think, mate. This is why I'm subbed.
My Logitech g610 has been taking a lot of abuse lately from my recent Overwatch sessions haha
smashing peripherals is not a good technique for getting good. slam hand on desk if you must slam something.
I used to be like you but Then i bought the g900 and that's to expensive to abuse xD
OW wasn't that bad a year ago, which is when that comment was posted
The bottle example was the most accurate thing you could've showed.
Brilliant video. Wise, thoughtful and poignant words.
Get angry gohan! Release your hidden power!
Outstanding stuff in your videos man ! Keep it up ! Glad i just found your channel ! Cheers !
This really spoke to my Zy, thanks.
Loving this series, it really helps a lot! That is, when I can get past my competitive anxiety xP
Curious if you could either make a video on that or just reply to this comment. I understand the general best advice is "just play anyway" but didn't know if you might have anything to add lol
More of the quaker psychological thingy please. It's very good and soothing.
boi, it's quake, ain't philosophy. JK, excellent video as always. Keep up the amazing work
There is that one hero in league of legends, her name is Akali and she has that one line which suits to the topic of this vid: "Don 't waste your anger, channel it"
I think the only reason I m mentioning it is cuz I m a main xd
Anyways thanks for another wholesome vid dude
Yay, Zy makes the best videos.
anger exists naturally so that you're able to defend yourself
if a hyena bites a lion, the lion gets mad, it kills the hyena.
a lion without the ability to feel anger would feel sad, or scared. it would never attack the hyena, and the hyena would kill the lion without a fight.
it's natural to feel anger in a game when you're losing, because competitive games are just simulated fights.
I followed your advice, now i'm super saiyan.
THANK YOU!!
Rocket Jump Ninja Confirmed Dark Side User.
Great topic!!
Rage against the railgun... that will be my new clan in Quake Champions
This man is a leyend. TY
Ever tried to workout while angry? Gets a lot of stuff done and even has a bit of leftover anger for those extra reps and sets
yay bedtime stories
When u play angry, idk I have more confidence in my play,I would even say I play better angry than calmed
Soda water in 1080p 60fps, love it Zy
these are very nice zy, thanks!
This Channel
I open my soda with a fidget spinner and drink it with mentos.
Yay I'm using my rage in a good way sometimes I even think of my parents being of attacked and get angry lol
Zy your videos are awesome! You're like the KliksPhilip of the Quake community.
i really needed this zy i need to get my rage back, my fight. as i feel depressed my self. and not sure what to do.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
Woa, hitting us with the heavy shit in this video. daym
