@@matthewmacaulay9773 Hunzi edits this series (It's Alive). Vinny was always the camera guy while he was around. Brad always talked to him. Now Hunzi films and edits, I believe.

Brad isn't just fun. He is good at bringing out the fun in his guests.
Occasionally there's a guest that just doesn't understand, but the ones who just go with it always have a great time.
Words like "craftsman" and "artisan" get bandied about with abandon these days, but Bob Kramer is an individual that truly embodies the spirit of craftsmanship. The amount of care and detail that goes into his knives is unparalleled.
Its also not abandoning in europe. Especially Germany.
And Sorry Jason, but Japenese knives are not better than hand crafted european or american knifes.
They tend to a lot of fancy stuff to them thats only that, fancy. No increase in performance.
Damascus stell is already just for fancyness.

Jason Reyes why do you have to turn it into a competition? We’re talking about this man and his very apparent talents, this video has nothing to do with Japanese knives, which I’m sure are lovely.
@Jason Reyes The commercially available knifes are not made by Kramer, or his production. It is partnerships with larger corporations such as Zwilling.
If you are buying actual Kramer knifes, they definitely exceed the thousands of dollars. He is the only Master bladesmith specializing in knifes in the US - that is VERY expensive (but worth it).
Bob Kramer is like if some random guy's uncle made Rolls Royce for royalty in his shop, by himself.
The guy's reputation is immense but he seems real down to earth and about the craft.

this episode really shows off the best parts of brad's personality. he's engaged and excited to learn, he brings out the best in his teacher. that kind of honest curiosity is what makes him a great host!

Oh wow, this is awesome. There's a whole genre of youtube where people hand make knives and I'm kind of obsessed with it, it's cool to see Brad, my favorite non-knife-making youtuber doing a knife making video. If any of y'all that liked this video want to see more videos about making knives, check out Green Beetle and Walter Sorrells. They're my personal favorite knife makers on youtube. Green Beetle is more of an experimental dude, as in a lot of his videos are about making knives out of abnormal materials. The first video of his that I saw, was him making a knife out of fish hooks. It's a great video. Walter Sorrells is more of a knife making guru/technical knowledge wizard. His show has more of the vibe of those awesome 90s - 00s PBS carpentry shows, but knives instead, and they're filled with all sorts of useful information and tips to get started yourself. Due to mostly those two channels, I've gotten into it myself and am about to finish my first knife. It's shit but it's a good start.

@John Doe Freerk's channel is great! I've been a fan for awhile now, I only didn't mention him because I felt like I should mention the two youtubers that got me into knife making.
Just when I thought Brad couldn't get any better, he goes and brings forging into the mix.
The only person I would spend 3k on for an actual Kramer knife is myself, and still I just can't.

Bob Kramer is such an absolute legend - in fact, I would argue that forging a knife with Kramer for this episode did a disservice to blade smithing/forging; he LITERALLY makes it look EASY! There's just no way that someone can watch this and think that it doesn't look pretty 'easy' and 'straightforward', he just works so effortlessly!

Brad, I am a knife maker, a jeweler, and a HUGE fan of yours. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Mr. Kramer is an amazing bladesmith and this was fantastic. I've always wanted to make an induction furnace and it was awesome seeing one actually used.
This is probably the coolest thing bon apetit has done. Brad is super lucky to get a knife and go and do this. I'm envious.

Jesus brad get your eye protection on. A hot piece of steel to the eye (even sand grains size) can blind you permanently.
David Muzia well, yes, but the chances are slim, what he did alright is not use gloves with power machines, if you grind your finger it sucks, but if you grind your glove your hand will get puled in and probably amputate your hole hand, its the same with drills
