      I can always season up some prego if I can't afford my rao's. Gotta get the big jars and add diced tomatoes. If you're single, you still have a full jar of sauce left over after you make yourself some spaghetti or lasagna or tortellini or manicotti. Even goes great in a meatball sub.

    • @adim00lah
      @adim00lah ปีที่แล้ว

      Even the cheapest sauces have about the same sodium as rao's.
      Where they cut cost is using tomato paste and water as the 1st ingredient. Rao's uses whole tomatoes.
      They also use unripe tomatoes, and cover that acidity with sugar. I noticed switching to a good sauce that uses ripe tomatoess doesn't give me heart burn.
      Dried instead of fresh spices is another cost saving measure. And using cheap oil like soy or canola oil instead of evoo.
      Victoria's and Rao's are the only brands that make sauce from whole ripe tomatoes and no paste or sugar that I've seen at the store. Even the organic stuff uses tomato paste and sugar.

    Okay.... there has been a notable difference in taste of the sauce from last year and beyond as compared with the sauce I've been eating lately (past 5 or 6 months.)
