I gotta say, as an Aussie, Tia’s love for big things just widens my smile more than u2 usually do. Looking forward to this one. Thanks guys🇦🇺 safe driving
25:58 - Tia talks about not having seen much of America, but as an Aussie, they've actually seen more of Australia than I have, as I've never been to Western Australia or the Northern Territory.
Thanks for the 'petrol' nod to Oz AND with an Aussie accent no less. The accent is pretty good 👍 Fun fact for the Aussies who call petrol pumps 'bowsers',,, I learnt from an ep of American Pickers (and just read the Wikipedia article before posting) that - "The first gasoline pump was invented and sold by Sylvanus Bowser in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on September 5, 1885,[4] pre-dating the automobile industry- It was commonly used to dispense the kerosene used in lamps and stoves." So I grew up using a brand name 😟 I'm off to Hoover the carpet and then make a few Xerox copies ☹ [yes I'm old]
As another Aussie, I am not at all put out by Tia’s love of Big Things! Secondly, I have watched a few videos on various interesting aspects of Route 66. I would have LOVED to have driven it but I didn’t have the time (I was working not playing in Texas and Washington DC). I will watch this all with added interest. When you get back to Aus you might like to find a few bits of the original Eyre Highway unsealed and much degraded but still drivable in sections. In a past life I drove that seven times in both directions in a 1963 Ford Falcon.
Yay , as an Aussie who loved your Aust and NZ content, I have been hanging out for some US content . Thanks , looking forward to exploring 66 ' with you '
What a great video. As an Aussie I am enjoying the many historical Route 66 buildings and signs you are discovering. The back stories are very interesting and an insight into what life was like when Route 66 was a major highway. I dont know if you've watched the "Blues Brothers" movies but they were set in the Chicago area. So many iconic landmarks you were near - Cook County Building, elevated railway, Joliet (where the prison was), Elwood (the name of one of the brothers). Enjoy your road trip.
Once again a fun video. I am glad I am not watching in public. People would wonder at the permanent smile on my face and wonder what why. You have crossed The Nullarbor now time for Route 66. I am sure you will find great iconic US attractions , some may be cringeworthy, but that is what makes America …America.
The last time I tried to buy a paper map, every store owner looked at me like I had three heads 🤣But honestly, paper maps are essential in places like the Southwest, where cell service is super spotty. Happy navigating!
Hi Guys! We’re living between Thailand and the USA. Watching your adventures about six months now. If you guys want a break while on Route 66 though Flagstaff AZ we are near Tucson you’re welcome to use our place for a break from the road if you need some pool time and want to do some hiking in the mountains
After previously watching other Route 66ers on TH-cam, I had a inkling that Tia would find the Gemini man! Another Aussie enjoying your style and your adventures. Thanks for you clarification on Gas / Petrol, ha ha 😅
Very lovely to see how comfortable you are, travelling on home soil and discovering that getting to know your own country is also an important, valuable and fun experience. Safe travels and go the BIG THINGS.
As an Aussie Route 66 is a bucket list ‘to do’. Interesting to hear your comments on how you think the USA has changed since you’ve been travelling the world.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, looking forward to seeing more adventures on 66, & enjoying Tia’s map reading skills :) (Also looking forward to more big things, watching from here in 🇦🇺).
Hi I love the fact that you tell us the price of things. So many videos without this information. Am doing route 66 in May. And can’t wait for the rest of your. Videos x
Looking forward to this! Would love to go on this trip myself, coming along with you 2 next best thing! What I love about America is that it is the same size as Australia, but all the middle is occupied, so there is always so many more places to stop off
While we're talking car names., someone above said Cherry, but as it's a rental and "fast" how about tweeking it to Cheri (Share-ree ) for a bit of glam? OR as it's a Honda (Asian company ) and we're still tying in the zippy thing, Goji? Go-gee, everything about that is about speed.
LOL. Young people looking at paper map is like a deer looking at the headlight. People don't truly appreciate how amazing GPS navigation is: it not only shows you where you are going, the direction you are going BUT also WHERE YOU ARE. And it's so tiring to constantly keep track of where you are just so that you know you are on the right track. Those were the days.
Ill always remember road trips as a kid I was always the one with the road atlas. They are super helpful and so interesting to look at. America never ceases to amaze me how much there really is to see out there that you wouldnt even expect. You really could spend a lifetime finding new little corners and new experiences. Im really looking forward to the rest of this trip. You guys really know how to get out there headfirst and enjoy the little things 😊
Looking forward to this 'road trip' and how much of the old Route 66 you get onto :) I was happy to just walk down through Seligman, AZ and checkout Angel & Vilma's Gift Shop a couple of years ago. Watched far too much American TV in my youth. :) Happy Trails guys and enjoy the 'cheap' petrol!
We just came back from Mexico via Amarillo and forgot about rt 66. About maple syrup.. maple leaf is on Canada flag because when early explorers came from Europe they had the beginning stages of scurvy by time they arrived. Native peoples cured their scurvy by feeding them maple syrup to drink.
I had an inkling something big was coming up from Tia's giggle. As teenagers we sang "get your kicks on Route 66" with gusto. My husband prefers paper maps to Google, especially when you get no reception in some country areas here in Australia. Keep those videos coming, love your energy and thanks for taking us to places less touristy.
Oh wow, imagine filling up a tank in Australia for $ 55 AUD... thats pretty much 1/2 price by our standards.... of $ 1.90 per litre here - on a 'good day'....
A great trip for you guys and us too . When you said STEED i was thinking you got a Mustang for your travels . In Australia a newsagent is a good place to get maps , is it called a bookshop in the stares? Happy travels :-)
Looking forward to your Route 66 adventure. We would really like to know how you progressively feel coming back onto US food after Aus, NZ, Asia and Europe. More processed/additives. Looking forward to your opinions.
Tia and Chevayo, wherever you have been in the world, I have never been concerned for your safety....now you are home again, I strangely am. Good luck. As soon as Tia said "It's time for our first attraction" I laughed and said gleefully "Something BIG?!".....YES!🤣 You mean to tell me America is now copying our great Aussie tradition?😅 At the end where you said "there's so much in our own back yard', I agree, I think a lot of Australians fall into the same trap and think they have to be travelling to other countries to see worthwhile things....not true. Our own countries are great and your's is no exception.👍
I always find it cool to see travel vlogs from the US. It is home to you, but very foreign to me (as a Brit) - especially as you are travelling the splintered remnants of what's left of Route 66.
Just ❤watching you guys! Yes, another Aussie here! I love how you’re both so informative, cheerful and funny! Reading the paper map was hilarious! 😂Keep finding the ‘big things’ Tia. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next. Travel safe. 😍
I went with some friends down I-40 a couple years ago and kept begging them to go to the old route 66 stops! Petrified forest and palo duro canyon are incredible - definitely worth the detours!
Food hack for eating something that messy: When it comes with a base layer of packaging (in this case the aluminum foil), use that to handle it like a burrito. 😃. This should be a fun journey! I’ve driven through all 50 states but never officially followed Route 66.
10:20... Ah, the ol Super 8 motel (Originally $8 a night.. similarly the budget Motel 6, was $6 a night) Stayed there often in the 90s on driving holidays. I've heard that they've gone downhill since then. 14:00... I still have a 30 litre plastic tub full of my old road trip maps and atlas's from Aus, US & EU. Bloody heavy too. You were so lucky to get onto a half capacity cruise. Damn, you missed the Cahokia Mounds.
I started watching you guys to prep for a visit to my girlfriend in Sydney, but omg! I live in Chicago! I would have been just kiddy to run into you guys on the street 🥰 love following your adventures
Did you see the poster on he wall at 23.52? It says Cozy Dog has been owned and operated by Ed Waldmire's family since 1949. Ed was the father of Bob Waldmire - the artist from the yellow bus.
Im going to enjoy this one! Enjoy travelling your own backyard - it's a great place to travel by car. Another Aussie who loves travelling and especially seeing all "Big Things" - go Tia 🤣
C'mon guys, you've driven across the Nullarbor ... driving Route 66 should be a doddle! Trust Tia to find a Big Thing early on 😅 P.S. love maple syrup but it's so expensive in Australia because of the import costs.
COME ON CHEVEYO!!!!!! WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU!!!! We love big things. Thats absolutlely awesome. We gotta show those Aussies we got big things too! LOL Looking forward to following your road trip with LOTS of "BIG THINGS" All the best to you froim San Diego, CA
I'm guessing a road atlas=a road map!? We have one up on you, we have a "route 69"!!! hahaha The corn dog looks like a battered sav! have a safe trip and don't forget " click, clack front n back" !!!🇦🇺😊
You will pass about 20 miles from our home. Wilmington or Dwight, Il. We did 66 from Texas back to Illinois. I like traveling the back roads of the U.S. or any country. Whole lot of Indian Casinos in Oklahoma.
" Oh no, come on, seriously" All hail the Big Things on this adventure!! I enjoyed this video, always good to have a bit of a laugh. Looking forward to the rest of the Route 66 videos. Travel safe guys ❤
We have a Dead Man’s Curve in Cleveland on I-90 (which is the longest stretch of highway in the US, from Massachusetts to Washington - if you want to do another US driving adventure!). But our Dead Man’s Curve is a 90* turn at the edge of Lake Erie…. They have concrete barricades and stuff but, I mean if you try hard enough you can go swimming 😅
did you meet a friendly homeless guy with a little cat? We met him on the steps of the Art Institute, then he moved down to Miller's Pub where we had dinner
I kinda wished you's would amp the adventure up and excitement by renting something older and that you could camp in too.... Haha... Still pretty cool though. Enjoy route 66.
Well it goes to St. Louis, down to Missouri Oklahoma City looks so, so pretty You'll see Amarillo, Gallup, New Mexico Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Wynonna Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino
I gotta say, as an Aussie, Tia’s love for big things just widens my smile more than u2 usually do. Looking forward to this one. Thanks guys🇦🇺 safe driving
Yep, samesies
25:58 - Tia talks about not having seen much of America, but as an Aussie, they've actually seen more of Australia than I have, as I've never been to Western Australia or the Northern Territory.
I’m on Team Tia for seeing the big things - they are a great laugh and as an Aussie I’m hugely excited for Big Things American edition.
Thanks for the 'petrol' nod to Oz AND with an Aussie accent no less. Nz left the chat
Omg that Tia is finding big things there just to annoy Cheveyo is priceless! And now I’m craving some good maple syrup ….
As an Aussie I like.your appreciation of the big things Tia. So much fun to watch you traverse your homeland after your globe trotting.
We need you honorary Aussie's back down here. More adventures await and maybe you could get Blueberry back and continue exploring this amazing land.
Mazda did an article on Blueberry and their road trip so maybe they'd be able to sponsor their next car - a 4WD maybe?
Another American Australian here who is with you ALL THE WAY for the Big Things! Go Tia!

Where’s our petrol shout out 🫤
As an Aussie I’m so glad you found some ‘big’ things to find along your drive.
What a great video. As an Aussie I am enjoying the many historical Route 66 buildings and signs you are discovering. The back stories are very interesting and an insight into what life was like when Route 66 was a major highway.

Not only is your vehicle a rental, but it's also red, which makes it even faster!
Known facts, rental cars can go fast. Any red car goes faster than any other colour
The last time I tried to buy a paper map, every store owner looked at me like I had three heads 🤣But honestly, paper maps are essential in places like the Southwest, where cell service is super spotty. Happy navigating!

Are you guys aware there was a 60's pop hit called Dead Man's Curve? By Jan and Dean I think.
I laughed so hard at the USA big things edition, loved seeing it in Australia! Tia , you rock!
Very lovely to see how comfortable you are, travelling on home soil and discovering that getting to know your own country is also an important, valuable and fun experience. Safe travels and go the BIG THINGS.
Love that you translate for us Aussies these days i think we have got into your souls lol
As an Aussie Route 66 is a bucket list ‘to do’. Interesting to hear your comments on how you think the USA has changed since you’ve been travelling the world.
😂 those big things..Cheveyo's reaction is priceless. 🤣 Gets him every time. Loved the intro to your red rental guys 😂..
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, looking forward to seeing more adventures on 66, & enjoying Tia’s map reading skills :)

America, here we come back. Congratulation!!! Finally you guy back your home land again.
17:45 Cheveyo, true old-time gentleman, bro!
Enjoying the quaintness and history of Route 66’s small town America!
Excited to see more!
Looking forward to this! Would love to go on this trip myself, coming along with you 2 next best thing! What I love about America is that it is the same size as Australia, but all the middle is occupied, so there is always so many more places to stop off

Route 66 Oklahoma destination- Pops! Look it up! Very cool old school soda shop👍🏼
Been looking forward to this. What a beautiful country!
So envious.
Enjoy ❤

Yay for BIG THINGS! Looking forward to seeing many more along the route!
Hell yeah. You did a lap (mostly) around australia and now doing this. Two things I very much wanna do! I'm so keen.
Im really looking forward to how the landscape changes and what the small towns look like along the way.
Ok, call the car "TOM" for Tomato. Have a great trip, Cheers, Muffy from Oz.
So glad that you’re doing “map time” for those of us with only a rudimentary understanding of American geography 😘😘😊

Yes....around $1.37 AUD.

A great trip for you guys and us too . When you said STEED i was thinking you got a Mustang for your travels . In Australia a newsagent is a good place to get maps , is it called a bookshop in the stares? Happy travels :-)
You hit the nail on the head. The place we found maps, Barnes & Noble, is a bookstore chain in the US.
Hoping to see lots of off-the-beaten-path parts of the US I've never seen before.
Looking forward to your Route 66 adventure.
We would really like to know how you progressively feel coming back onto US food after Aus, NZ, Asia and Europe. More processed/additives.

Seems India is not the place for white women travellers
I always find it cool to see travel vlogs from the US. It is home to you, but very foreign to me (as a Brit) - especially as you are travelling the splintered remnants of what's left of Route 66.
Welcome back to America!
Looking forward to the "biggest ball of twine in Minnesota"! ... a Wierd Al reference
Just ❤watching you guys! Yes, another Aussie here! I love how you’re both so informative, cheerful and funny! Reading the paper map was hilarious! 😂Keep finding the ‘big things’ Tia.

Tia caught on with the aluminum foil trick. I did not 😂
Lived in Chicago in the 90s (I'm Australian) and was amazed at the messy hot dogs from the Plush Pup diner near where I lived.
I play a Dr X Route 66 guitar amplifier so gonna dig this trip
But you still have to come to Tassie
I love that you guys are doing this! This trip is also on my bucket list.
Great content. Loving her happines.
Yea Tia's big things - more-more-more-more-more-more
I have just watched my cousin and his wife do the exact same route in their RV so I am looking forward to your vlog. Have a great trip and stay safe.
So jealous. Its on my bucket list. Have a great time
You should stay at the legendary El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, New Mexico. I was there a year ago and it was awesome.
speaking for Americans viewing, this chapter has all the warmth of a big welcome home.
10:20... Ah, the ol Super 8 motel (Originally $8 a night.. similarly the budget Motel 6, was $6 a night) Stayed there often in the 90s on driving holidays.
I've heard that they've gone downhill since then.

You were so lucky to get onto a half capacity cruise.
Damn, you missed the Cahokia Mounds.
Hope you get a boost in viewers - USA , lets go!!!
Interesting Bob Waltmire's bus wasn't covered in murals - but was a blank, timber canvas!
Joliet and Elwood - the Blues Brothers !!
Don’t get me wrong, I love your Foreign exploits but this was a refreshing and charming experience!❤
I thought so. There are some mighty interesting parts down New Mexico way. Have fun!
Good to see you two with a new set of wheels. The road trips are my favourite.
Van life sure has changed over the years :) We love seeing all the museums along the Route.
I started watching you guys to prep for a visit to my girlfriend in Sydney, but omg! I live in Chicago! I would have been just kiddy to run into you guys on the street 🥰 love following your adventures
I’m so excited about getting to see America with you guys!! 😘😘🤩🤩
I can't wait to see what you guys do in my home state in the next video!
I love you guys hope you having a good time just don't for get to come back to oz
Did you see the poster on he wall at 23.52? It says Cozy Dog has been owned and operated by Ed Waldmire's family since 1949. Ed was the father of Bob Waldmire - the artist from the yellow bus.
First time I've seen a hotdog that needs Tia for Scale
Im going to enjoy this one! Enjoy travelling your own backyard - it's a great place to travel by car. Another Aussie who loves travelling and especially seeing all "Big Things" - go Tia 🤣
Btw are we naming this rental?
‘Cherry’ immediately came to mind when I saw it!
C'mon guys, you've driven across the Nullarbor ... driving Route 66 should be a doddle! Trust Tia to find a Big Thing early on 😅 P.S. love maple syrup but it's so expensive in Australia because of the import costs.
I gotta say I really enjoyed this video. I’m just like you guys, I need to travel & explore my country more. Gotta check out Route (root) 66.

Looking forward to the rest of the Route 66 videos. Travel safe guys ❤
Ive got to admit, the Gemini Man is a little nicer than our Big Potato
🤣
We have a Dead Man’s Curve in Cleveland on I-90 (which is the longest stretch of highway in the US, from Massachusetts to Washington - if you want to do another US driving adventure!). But our Dead Man’s Curve is a 90* turn at the edge of Lake Erie…. They have concrete barricades and stuff but, I mean if you try hard enough you can go swimming 😅

Re: Meteor Crater, AZ & Petrified Forest NP, AZ
Hi,
Meteor Crater, AZ and Petrified Forest NP, AZ are worth stopping at.
Love the "big things" road trip
R66 was on my bucket list but did a big loop thru the southern states
How can I know if a thing is big or not without a Tia for Scale! 🙂
If Cheveyo has his face in his hands its usually a good indicator.
Looking forward to your USA adventures keep safe❤️❤️🙋🏻♀️
Was Joliet somehow connected with The Blues Brothers???!!
Had the same thought myself given the film takes place in Illinois. Looked it up, and Joliet prison is a real, now former, prison in the area
What a fun trip!
Thanks! Another awesome video- I already know that I’m going to love this series!!!
I kinda wished you's would amp the adventure up and excitement by renting something older and that you could camp in too.... Haha... Still pretty cool though. Enjoy route 66.
Tia's evil laugh when she was talking about big thing.
I think she may have a problem.
Now I know where Australia got the big Banana etc😅❤
You can normally get free maps at welcome center entering each states.
Well it goes to St. Louis, down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks so, so pretty
You'll see Amarillo, Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Wynonna
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino
