As a former U.S Army Infantryman we conducted several force marches a year of 12 miles in 3 hours with a full rucksack and rifle and a couple of 20 + marches in full gear also. Yes it was rough but we did it. 😌
brilliant video ,,,, really enjoyed watching this ,,, yóu just can’t comprehend what these people actually went through… I agree with the above comment… people today arnt made of the same stuff .. keep making your videos I love all of them ,,
Wait wait wait... in one breath, you say how they went all dirty for months on end, and in the next one, they are highly informed on washing hands, clean wounds and putting high emphasis on sanitary environment?

Thank you that means so much and I will!
Fab informative video … brutal conditions… I don’t think people of today could stand this kind of military service .. no wonder they were strong
I thought that too. I know I couldn't march 18 miles in 5 hours.
Many thanks and thank you for your support.
@@thesoundofsong 18 miles in 5 hrs.And,no doubt,in full kit.Just..... brutal.
@@richardscanlan3419 absolute killer!
When you march for 20 miles with a pack on your back you're going to have no problem sleeping I promise you you will sleep standing up no problem
That's a very good point, never thought of that.
Amen brother, of all the problems I had in the army sleeping was never one of them.
Great ..the rommens..came to UK.. Bishops Stortford Herts
Yep they were in the UK for a long time. Well over three centuries.
Most could go never home usually dying on campaign. Their letters hime are in dearing ❤
Where are you able to read those?
@@HistoryThumbprint I have !! He was homesick, wishing his family would write back, they never did. He was a Roman from Egypt.
@@swhip897 Very interesting. I wonder if his family did write but because they were on the move all the time he never got them. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like they were semi Spartans
They were tough like the Spartans, that's for sure.

This refers to when on campaigns, they were dirty and some of these campaigns lasted months on end.
@@HistoryThumbprint allright.
