Shawn recommended you but I subbed some months ago. I didn't realize you had gone to the Self Reliance School...that's awesome. The Plow Point shelter has always been my go-to shelter even as a kid growing up in Ohio. My dad was an avid fisherman and he used the plow point to fish from while camped on the banks of rivers and lakes in Pennsylvania where he grew up. If I'm packing light I use my Helikon Tex Poncho; otherwise I carry an Aqua Quest 10X10 and use the HT poncho affixed to the Swagman Roll for my bedroll. My mattress is a 55gl contractor bag filled with leaves or ferns. What's cool about the plow point, too, is that you can "swivel" it in any direction to either catch the wind (warm weather) or block it in the winter. Doing this with other tarp configurations is a hassle. I've even used the Mors Kohanski super shelter option with it in the winter and stayed warm on a Mogollon Rim trip in Arizona.

Plow point pitch is an excellent setup, good job with explanation as well!
I use the she same technique for tying a marlin spike hitch and a bowline!
I don't teach that method to new students, but when I'm tying a bowline (quickly) that's how I do it!

Just found you after watching corporals corner,great vid i live in the u.k and had to get an oil cloth from the states,postage cost as much as the tarp but love it...ive a very small channel under Roaming Rambler where i used a kind of tripod set up.

Really clear instructions and realistic comments.
Your content is good, a second camera and wireless mic would really make it zing - something like a zoom h1n hidden behind the tree and an old GoPro - can get both on eBay cheap and if you did picture in picture edit to show pitching the rear face of the tarp you don't have to worry about it not being super hidef
We're preparing for tree planting season so I'm going to wimp out and have the tentipi - my back is too old to plant 500 saplings and then sleep on the ground and do it all again the next day, but will give this plough point a go if we have a mild Christmas - I recon with it hunkered down low I'd be less obvious to the deer
