So I heard Viking Metal was a genre of music and when I asked youtube to play me Viking Metal this was the first song that came up. I am not disappointed.

Regarding "Viking metal" i think that's a genre that encompasses metal bands of all types that have a Viking theme. There are many bands from different types of genres that sing of Vikings: black metal, folk metal, heavy metal, power metal and etc.
You don't get more Viking than that.

I found these guys a few years back while I was going through a really tough time. I was in Afghanistan, my best friend had just been killed. I was ready to bow my head in defeat. Being a heathen lost in a world where very few understand our even know about you can take its toll. When I found these guys, it was like life had just been pumped into an empty shell and I regained my will to continue the fight. Being a long time heathen I was more than happy to find them, now, they're almost all I listen to! So hail my friends, and hold your hammer high!

Half those who die in battle go to Odin's hall of Valhalla and the other half go to Fólkvangr which belong to Freyja. Everyone else goes to Hel which is ruled by the goddess of the same name.

I was never really fanatical about metal music until I heard this song by TYR. This is because I'm an aficionado of paganism particularly the Germanic and Norse mythologies. I'm of Iranian ancestry myself, and am proud to say that Zoroastrianism has age old links with these Ancient and highly cultured Teutonic practices.

These guys are great live, I got to see them in 09 with Alestorm and even though it was a smaller venue they made it seem huge and really brought a great energy with their performance. I really hope they do another big tour sometime soon, I'll bring the mead!

Three young ladies from the Land of the Rising Sun dancing a viking metal song brought me here and now I can't stop listen this.
I exposed my kids (2 and 4 years old) to this song, and now my boys are running around singing "hold the heathen hammer high" I am so proud. At least they don't swear, I actually find them pretty clean cut and their music makes my kids wanna dance and play the guitar. So why not? Metal just rules!!
For those people thinking religiously about this music: GIVE IT UP. It's music. You are supposed to listen to it. Who gives a flying fuck if this isn't your religion? I'm Christian, but I'm listening to this because I have a healthy respect/interest for other cultures. Besides, this is METAL. Since when has metal been religiously appealing, except for Red? Think about the material of Black Sabbath's songs. They sing about how it is nowhere near fun to go to Hell, but people missed the message completely. The Wizard? Not fun to go to Hell. Snowblind? Drugs. Music doesn't have to appeal to your religion for you to enjoy it. Cheech and Chong sing about and smoke weed. AND THEY'RE FAMOUS FOR IT.

Sure, it's fine for someone to listen to this /without/ "thinking religiously" about it, but it's just as fine for someone to listen to this for (in whole or part) the religious meaning. This music /is/ essentially the Odinist equivalent of Red, or Demon Hunter, or Oh Sleeper.
