  • The forecast was good so I flew to Monument Valley for a Navajo Taco lunch on Friday, after flying over Canyon de Chelly. I stopped both directions for fuel at Taylor airport in the White mountains. The flight and views were amazing. I have flown into UT25 at Gouldings Lodge many times and always enjoy it.

    Very well done as usual, Jim H. I certainly enjoyed the flight. Brought back many memories of flying those same areas many times, as well as doing most of those place on the ground. I really miss not having an airplane, and I miss the many flights that we all had together.

      Thanks John. I was thinking of you when I was eating that Navajo Taco... I remember enjoying many of them together with you and the gang. I'm glad this video brought back many good memories for you... going there did the same for me! Take care partner!

      Here you go... first are screenshots of the flight plan as loaded to the autopilot, followed by the actual flight tracks downloaded from my flight instrument when I got home. photos.app.goo.gl/ixmKmFbsuib7MZZ36

    I have not been PIC for over 3 years but after watching this video, I renewed my BFR last weekend - I missed flying

      @@jimhefner they really are pretty, it's so cool to see the southwest from the air. You still using the gopro 10?

    • @jimhefner
      @jimhefner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I'm still using the 10. GP came out with a recent firmware update that had extended battery feature that was much needed and they will be coming out with a new higher powered battery next month that will help even more in cold temps.

      @@jimhefner oh great, have you looked into any of those after market batteries that last like 6 hours? I have one for my gopro 7 black and its actually water proof as well. I think it's called refuel battery?

      @@thesamuelclemens No I haven't had good luck with aftermarket batteries in the past so I haven't looked into those. The 9 and the 10 use the same battery, which is different from the previous models. I'm planning to stick with GP batteries, especially now that they implemented the Extended Battery function. 4K30 is supported, which is what I use in flight. Since I can power the camera up and down remotely from the cockpit using Quik on my phone, I have plenty of battery capacity now. My recent flights over the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell were too long for the battery with continuous shooting... shooting shorter videos in flight will help too. I still had 70% battery left when I got to Monument Valley.
