I figured i would add some information since it was driving me crazy! There is a significant bug in the custom cameras whereby if you load another aircraft in the same session and try to configure its custom views, it will totally screw up the custom views of the first aircraft. However if you exit the sim and restart, the saved views will be there. So set up one aircraft, exit sim, restart, then do the next, and so on.
Instead of manually moving the camera to see my instruments, I bound one of my hat switches to go between the instrument cameras (click in to enter instrument view, then left/right to go between them). Then I have my analogue stick on my joystick to act as both freelook and the mouse (depending on which mode), with a button bound to click. I also have up/click/down on one of my other hats bounds to switch between ladning/instrument/VFR camera position. Along with the two way trigger setup for zoom/unzoom. Never have to take my hands off my HOTAS.
thank you for the video man, im still tweaking my views/bindings. at least graphically i really havent done anything and it runs silky smooth on 4k ultra with minimal frame drops. 2020 i feel like was always a battle and i'm on a 13900kf/4090/64gb ddr5/ssd. 6 months and this sim will be top of the pile i think once bugs are addressed and more addons are ported.
The little bugs sprinkled everywhere are the worst. I almost didn’t publish this video until they fixed some of the issues I ran into, but figured I can address those in comments since they are so inconsistent
Setting the camera views was a great help! Now could you show us what your mouse settings are for the cockpit view and external view? I know you use the keyboard for the cockpit but I'd still like to zoom in/out on the saved camera views and use the mouse instead of the keyboard to lookaround a bit on the external views. Had this all set up in 2020 but cant seem to make the transition to 2024
@@FlightSimSchool I have the scroll wheel working properly, I had 2020 configured to use the mouse to scan about the cockpit using center click plus a mouse drag. Haven't been able to accomplish that in 2024. But have you noticed that the fixed camera positions that I have customized don't stay fixed? They tend to drift and tilt after just a few minutes. My pilot instrument '0' position tends to start a drift within minutes. I left the cockpit for a bit on a flight and came back and it was facing the cockpit door! Any experience with any of this Mark? Thanks
@@fredziker3784 hmmmm, by default the click and drag works for me, I wonder if the preset for the mouse in the binding got changed by accident? For the drift, I believe that's a bug. I've had it happen on some flights, but not others.
@@FlightSimSchool Thanks for the validating the drift issue. I don't doubt that I've altered the default mouse bindings and would love to revert my controls back to default and start over but, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way to reset the controls back to default. I've read that even uninstalling and reinstalling MS2024 won't get me back to default control settings because they're downloaded from the cloud as part of the reinstall now. That's why I'm hoping you could post screen shots of your settings for us to try to replicate in our systems. Thanks again!
Back in FS 2000 (I think) there was a cockpit view that kind of showed more of the outside, and only 2 or 3 important gauges which was great when flying in a very scenic area. Is there an equivalent in 2024? TIA
Yes, if you use external view, you can make it show a throttle, trim, etc. I disabled it because I like my external view to be gauge-free for quick screenshots.
I think these are broken in some planes. If I save a custom camera in the Grand Caravan, when I try to set new ones in the Skyhawk it just keeps defaulting to the ones used in the Caravan. Sad state this game is in.
Try restarting, and creating a separate profile per plane for the general controls if it doesn't work. I've found that can fix it, *sometimes*. Like you said, sad state....

I've pinned the comment, thanks for sharing!
Another very informative video for all simmers. Thanks very much for your advise and time it's very much appreciated.
Thank you so much, I have been trying to set camera views for a few days and your video walked me through it. Keep up your good work

For the mouse, it’s quite simple, the scroll wheel is what I use to zoom in and out, and then move the mouse to pan around. Hope that helps!
I can't pan around the aircraft using the mouse left click as per MF2020. I think it happened after I installed the mandatory update last week.

@ So, if I understand correctly, there is a view for that already built in. (thank you)
Yep the binding you're looking for is the 'toggle cockpit external view' or something like that
6:50 is that PANC? that’s my hometown Airport lol.
Good catch! I figured it was the best place to have a 747 sitting at the ramp.
Awesome video
Thank you thank you thank you 🙂
Hi on 2020 I right click my mouse and can pan around the cockpit but on 2024 I do the same and it’s uncontrollable? Any advice please . Thanks
Yes I believe that is a known bug I also have on my XBox-X.
Yep, I believe they mentioned it in the dev update stream earlier today
