Fair play sir on teaching the 'apprentice' (Kieren)and going easy on him-thats so important. We've all been there. I had a right R sole 'gaffer' when I started on site back in 19...(something..)👍
Great video, thanks. In Australia we would run that cable into the roof space and drop out on the outside wall near the hot tub, which would have to be in conduit. Is there any reason why you run it the the long way round the outside wall? Seems like a lot of clipping and a risk of damage to the cable? Very interesting to see how other countries do things and the differences in Electrical regulations.
That would be the typical way of installing it in the UK, there's not so much risk of damage as there is no grass to be cut there, also if I run it into the roof and back down it would likely be a longer route, plus we needed an accessible isolator. Thanks for the great comment
Hi Dean, nice informative video for the new guys, even old sods like me can always learn something, don't you use linian clips? much easier to install. Regards from Ray the old sod 80 in December from North Wales.
Linian sent me some to use but they're not the size of the SWA that I've been installing yet, probably should get a bag the next time and see what they're like, cheers for the comment
@@DoctorElectricTH-cam Cheers mate so as long as there is not much risk of damage like lawn mower or edge trimmer Etc. This cable is acceptable for out side use. I asked a napit assessor the once and he was like swa only think was a bit of a jobs worth
Anyone that thinks they're important will say SWA for everything. I'd fit SWA if it could be damaged or NYY-J for cable that isn't likely to be damaged 👍

Thanks for the comment EF, Kieran is a great learner and will no doubt have a great future as an Electrician

Nice work, why join outside box, just bring cable straight into consumer unit…????
Hi Michael and thank you for the comment, in my opinion it looks messy, it also allows for coverage of the blowout
Hi mate what cable you using there. Looking for an alternative to swa. I do alot of cooker runs for elec cookers and sick of swa lol
Hi GD thanks for the comment.
The cable is called NYY-J, Hi-Tuff or Tough Sheath, 👍
