    Basic Information:
    Siren: Federal Signal 3T22
    Town: Clyde, OH (Sandusky County)
    Location: Watertown Dr
    Tested: First Saturday at 12:00
    Uses: Tornado Siren
    Cycle: Full Alert
Other Notes: So after Republic, Bruin and I scooted up to Clyde. I've been wanting to hear one of these for a long time, and finally was able to. Very quiet, but not when the dampers open up. As soon as the video starts, there's a quick glance of the 3T22. Not gonna edit that out, so deal with it. Gonna be honest, I was really scared this would fail, because of Clyde's past with having issues. You can hear the T-128 in downtown, and the SRNB at the cemetery throughout the video. I didn't realize how low this unit was, until I got there. Enjoy!
*NOTE: I will not be held responsible for any misuse of activation tones for ill intent. You’ve been warned!*

@@United_HVAC_and_Fans (I know this an old comment) Technically the motor is running at it's intended rpm, it doesn't get to it's full rpm due to the rotors weight, plus these motors have more speed than torque.

The 3T22 in Hartford, KS has this same issue and I believe the one in Allen, KS does too.

Cool, sounds good, both dampers still close when it activates which is why it sounds so high pitched because there is no air sucking in and resisting the choppers to the normal pitch, volume, and speed! I wonder why they shut like that?

Improper wiring is to blame. The bonehead (or saint, whichever you prefer) wired the solenoid lines to the motor through the starter, so it’s all one circuit; kinda like how Broadmoor’s we’re wired up (except energizing would open the shutters instead of close them).

Midwest Siren Productions YES and to think all three were like that, one is now replaced and the existing 2 are STILL that way! Lol! Idiots, I mean that defeats the purpose of having the siren in the first place! Why waste the electricity to run the dam things. Heck it uses more power now that the motor is running faster! Because the intakes are blocked!

@@-northeastohiosirensandtra5641 It uses less power with the intakes blocked. Less air resistance = less load on the motor.

    It's not a 3T22-A
    Single phase is B

      @@sirensofneohio3979 He is wrong.
A 3 phase 3T22 will NOT reach such a high pitch unless driven by a VFD at a high AC frequency (around 80ish or more, instead of 60hz).
The acceleration of this siren's motor is also clearly non-linear. 3 phase XT22s ALWAYS have a linear acceleration.

@@TheMatsushitaMan This one has blocked intakes because the dampers shut when power is applied to the motor.

    • @YourAverageMODude145
      @YourAverageMODude145 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@TheMatsushitaMan (I don't care if I'm replying to an old comment) most of what I've seen other people say is very true, but these single phase XT22s use a brushed induction motor or universal motor, and this motor type is common for having more speed than torque. So as the damper shuts the motor's intended rpm is reached due to air resistance. And the same even goes for DC motors. However three phase XT22s will keep their pitch since the motor has more torque than speed, no matter if both dampers are shut.

    • @TheMatsushitaMan

@@YourAverageMODude145 More torque than speed LOL
Brushless induction motor speed depends on line frequency and number of poles.
