I am not your target audience at all. I am a straight Indian woman, who has never lived in Japan (but I would love to) and does not speak Japanese at all. But I love your whole vibe and your personalities. I love to understand the culture of Japan and get a deep dive into how LGBTQA+ issues are presented there. You both are amazing. You have given me so much insight into things that I had no way of knowing. It has made me a better person and a better ally. I am thankful for your channel. And to be totally honest, while the subject of your channel is Tokyo, the real reason we stay watching is because we love your character/personalities, so actually, we love videos where we learn more about you, even if not focused on Japan.

It's nice; and it is interesting seeing how gay life works somewhere else, but it's really them as people that kinda cemented their place in my watch routine. This is one of the few channels I actually know the upload day for because I look forward to it, haha.

Pls take this advice to heart from someone that knows all too well on this subject.
Until you learn to love yourself, have a positive self-esteem and be happy alone first, no external relationship out there will fill your void. It’s also definitely not the number of likes, followers, viewers and compliments that will truly fulfill your sense of inadequacy or “not being good enough.”
Self esteem comes from *within.*
The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one. Work on that first, and everything else changes including your desire for love and long term relationship.

You'd mentioned it before (I forget which video) about the whole growing up never thinking you'd even be able to get married so it never really had a chance to root itself in your mind. And I'm kinda similar in that regard; growing up figuring out I was gay I promised I wouldn't do the whole beard thing because I thought it was unfair to the women and that I'd just be alone for the rest of my life. I even used the fact that I would never be able to have children how hetero couples have children as an attempt of coming out to my mom one time, telling her don't expect grandkids. She totally missed it though and basically said you're giving me grandchildren.

Happy Anniversary, I think the take away from the comments and questions is that even though you started the channel as sort of "guide to Japan" you two have become very popular and people are as invested in your lives in Japan AS WELL AS the sights and cultural explorations. Hence all the requests for morning routines etc. And really shouldn't a good bottom provide pleasure to their Top?!? ;)

I was supposed to begin studying in Japan starting in September but haven't been able to due to coronavirus, so I've been doing plenty of living vicariously through you guys these past however many months! One of the things I was worried about when I decided to go to Japan was whether or not I'd be able to enjoy queer life in the way that I've become accustomed to. Now thanks to you guys, I know that queer life in Japan can be full of joy and new experiences in ways I'd never even considered before - I can't wait to come one day (soon hopefully)! So seriously, thank you both. Looking forward to the next video!!!

Nice video giving the opportunity in answering questions of people whose questions were not answered in the live feed. Andrew’s trip to Canada was good, what I liked of it was that it was indeed very insightful and detailed in all the procedures in traveling in and out of Japan with the Pandemic regulations and policies. Lol at Meng being slayed by Andrew (boyfriend/relationship topic) keep being you, one day, just keep your transactional relationship going when it happens 😜! you two are wonderful. the most important skill a person can have is honestly relating to others. that does not mean you can't have a solitary lifestyle. this is your life , fill it up. if you fail so big deal, you still learn. it took me seventy years to learn this. learn your strengths and weaknesses and always try to be considerate of others. be nice to your self.

Honestly, Meng, it's a great sign that you're diving into your psyche and figuring out who you are and what you need. You definitely should have a higher sense of self-esteem than you say you have, though. You are good looking, whether you realize it or not, but your good qualities don't end there. You also have a sharp wit and come across as very perceptive. Great husband material!
Funny, I'm in a similar position as Andrew, in that by the time gay marriage was legalized here in the States, I was already in my 30's, so I don't much think about marriage as a goal. Don't know if you had a similar response, Andrew, but back then, it always seemed to me to be used as a cudgel: "If we could get married, we'd be more monogamous" men would lecture me, when I wasn't asking for a lecture and the men making the pronouncements weren't monogamous in the first place. It's funny, I want to be with someone, but that doesn't mean I want to be married. To know what it does mean...well, I'd have to stay with the same person longer than my relationships have lasted thus far, lol.
Love the shout out to Achio and Are. A very different channel from yours (apart from the one-Asian-guy-one-bald-white-guy-both-handsome connection), but also entertaining. They are a really beautiful couple, they love each other so much. Wonderful to see.
I kind of remember navigating this a bit as well...while marriage was legalized in 2005, there were a lot of people in the community against it because we were almost reversing our progress with gay life and rights by subscribing to hetero-normative ways of life. I remember feeling a bit frustrated because I felt pulled in two different directions, so I can relate to what you were saying about people lecturing you!
Andrew, you didn't answer the question of you'd be interested in staying in Japan forever. What's your thoughts?

I am very similar to Meng actually in so far as I haven't thought about leaving. I have been to Japan 3 separate times and this is the first time I haven't felt a limit on my stay, so I feel this could be very long term!

Also Meng I kinda feel you about relationships. It sounds like you basically want the companionship/fun of being in a relationship and having someone you can rely on, but not like all the stress and uncertainty of dealing with people who don't even know what they want.
Also I think Tuesday is one of the TH-cam days I most look forward to. It's really cool to watch what you guys have gotten for the week and there's not even really *that* many queer channels like this that are just... discussion channels. Especially with covid meaning I can't really go into the city to hang with my queer friends, it's been kind of really reassuring.

We've had an on going discussion for years with my husband about living in Japan long term or not. He has a well paying job, it's safe, convenient, etc.. But I don't know if I see it long term, like how gay life is, for example Andrew talked about how open minded are English people. I live in Europe and I love holidays, work culture, I have no language barrier, migration is much easier (covid resident blocage from Japan was a reminder of how crazy it can be)... I don't know.. I love Japan, but I'm not sure about living long term.. Plus you guys speak Japanese way better than us. Btw, would love to know more about your background! How did you learn Japanese? How did you get to japan? Etc
My background story on Japan can be be found in my introduction video! As for me staying in Japan, I am similar to Meng, I don't know if it will be forever, but I haven't thought about leaving.

That was interesting. Some profound thoughts in this video. I agree that we mold ourselves a bit into whatever the society around us let us be or expect us to be. Unconsciously. A bit like what Andrew said about not being used to be able to marry: your mind adapted so you are now mold into thinking that wasn’t a possibility. It may take time to “reshape” your brain. I think the same about marriage, but I’ve been in a LTR for 11 years, so we are basically family.
Yeah, I feel like having a long term relationship and seeing more examples of gay marriage might help me reshape my brain!
