I reacted the same way. I was like "Wtf? Why do you think you wont want to make ap ammo?" I get wanting to craft stuff at the research station but a lot of this stuff are magazines you only need to read once to unlock something useful so a temporary slow down in scrapping books for a permanent unlock is useful. Especially in a modded game like this where you might not be sure of exactly what you will be doing end game.
I'm thinking the GNS was thinking this was a vanilla game there for that decision, where AP ammo is only good for the target penetration, and where no one considers the armor reduction value
Pretty sure in his mind it was just '9mm' ammo and he generally uses assault rifles so he'd want 7.62. But yeah, seeing as he started as the sheriff and automatically has better ability in pistols and a increased chance to find 9mm it woulda been better to use it for the start at least.
He's got interesting priorities and seems to fixate on goals to some mild detriment to broader progression. I remember being a bit irritated during the Undead Legacy playthrough because he scrapped the magazine for making mineral water like 3 or 4 times because he found enough mineral water just by looting, but didn't seem to consider the series completion perk which was, IIRC, harvesting military fibers (which are really useful for upgrading gear in UL). I think choices like that help make better Content, though, so I just roll with it.
Loving the overhaul and the series sofar. Good tip is sham slam lol and then drinking a mineral water to reduce food poisoning by 20%. Also get ur glowing mushrooms at night, syphia spores and cook with manuka honey to make syphia syrup for 15% infection reduction. Keepem coming Tem!
Goldenrod Tea isn't all that useful, but turning all your water into Red Tea does help out a bunch. Having that efficient digestion up pretty much always saves so much food and water. Distilled Water is even better, if you can find the book for it.
I think what the note was meaning was that placed stuff like campfires and other stationary burnt things (like a house) don't attract zombies but moving flames like a held torch would

Last time I played this I focused on getting a whole lineup of barrels back to base. No need to keep any liquid in the original container. And it's kinda satisfying.

I love it! It's like earlier alpha version of the vanilla game. In 1.0 there were barely any wandering zombies, they even removed the zombie spawning setting. Such a shame... Really happy this mod exists tho
That water collector seems really slow, maybe that warehouse full of tarps is a blessing in disguise. If you can craft enough of them then even just one water from each would add up.
Keeping a forge at our mining sites is actually really clever. I'm going to be doing that now. And a Chem station at my nitrate mines. It's definitely a good mid to End game goal.
The stumps will have like bees buzzing around them if they can give honey. You take it with a jar. At least that's how it was last alpha. The purple zombies come when vitality is low I think... But I had a purple zombie in the same POI last alpha and now.
^ This!! Good to get several camp fires rolling, and the tarp equipped in the campfire items slots is a must! Take the time early to get situated with a couple of barrels, for each type of water and keep those fires rolling!
@@GunsNerdsandSteel yeah, what tex said. i had like 5 campfires, three were ALWAYS COOKIN' on water. that said...once you get at least 6 water collectors, those will really put in the work with keeping you hydrated. I think 8 or10 will fully keep you going. I HIGHLY reccomend you craft the perk book to craft mineral water. it'll just about double your hydration per bottle.
I love pistols in this game. Especially in this mod, with the way the skills work. It’s satisfying seeing your performance increase “day over day” from practicing various skills.
Oh lord, this mod is kicking my butt! Died once, not sure why. I *think* starvation, since I didn't seem to take a hit. I find a fair amount of repair kits in vehicles which is nice. Need to find a real home, camped out on top of a rest station at the moment. Lol. 4 days in, so I need to be considering the horde as well...
grab those barrels, and pour beer and wine and honey and even dirty water INTO them, and that gives you more empty bottles to work with! take like 20 bottles so you can bring home more water, and honey! beer and wine is preeeeetty common though.

And im glad im not the only one that forgot Boars were aggressive towards players.. i almost died on Day 1 from one because i watched it take out a zombie then walked right past it where it almost killed me also.. cant wait for more videos Keep up the great work my man!!
Can't wait to see the development with Temcam and the larger story behind the series. Meanwhile I'm itching to see the first horde, when i tried the mod first time, my first horde was devastating, i survived but the cost was enough to make me restart.
Tip i found if you havent noticed. Alcohol was common for me. You can save some since your character will get a craving for it. But you can dump it out and just have a jar. You got nice and lucky in this poi for the water could be worth to keep a bucket on you to haul aditional water found and store it in camp.
to be honnest best content really when you launch one of those series on 7 days im always like do i watch , do i wait my friend for testing the mod i resist one time or two but in the end (it dosnt even matter ) i always end up watching everythings really big thumbs up from france man best content and best community you are a really good youtuber and do a really great job
Yeah, I think the water situation needs to be balanced further. It's a struggle early game for water - you have to boil 3 infected jars for 1 drinking water so you lose 2 jars in the process and it takes so long to purify. The idea sounds good on paper but I think it needs to be a bit more work at least for early game. lol also bong! 28:03
you can loot wine and beer. which can then be dumped on the ground, put in a barrel or drunk. this is a good way to get alot of jars. also make sure to have tarp in ur campfire to reduce cooking by 15m. plus having multiple campfires going is a good idea as well.
Don't boil the water. Even with a tarp it is extremely inefficient, takes forever and you will be swarmed with screamers. You have to loot select POIs early game. MEGA crush gives 60 water, can be found in soda fountains, barrels and water fountains can contain water. Looting the water early game until you set up your rain catcher farm seems to be the only way.
you'll know when a stump has honey, least when I played there were bees all around it, and you could just pull honey like it was a sink. there was even a note saying DON'T destroy stumps, cause they can become bee homes. I find you never have enough paper for those skillbooks, the empty boxes yeild a few more paper from breaking them, especially viable when your axe skill makes it a one hit break on them.

If you plan on using fist and you not going to have a lot of skill points to use. First rule of close up combat is healing factor and stamina use with the use of heavy armor. Use will need the nomad armor full set lv 6 gives you 90 percent improvement on food and water loss when healing. Then you for perks you need go full healing factor, full iron gut perk, full rule 1 cardio perk, full pain tolerance perk, lv 3 physician perk. Costs 47 points total but you get 115 percent food and water loss prevention making healing factor free and you heal fast and gain xp boost from it. And covers the uses you get with heavy armor from the set speed boost, inventory space, and dealing with rad zombies 🧟♀️. The rest is up to use on the tree 🌳 I use fist and shotgun with slugs and a silence mod for sneak damage and penetrator perk. I’m retired US ARMY veteran and a long time subscription fan from your old day’s. If you don’t mind using or test the build in jawoodle park. FYI health bars, and healing items will make you level up fast and keep you alive. Thank you for your time bro.
Absolutely my next playthrough... Doing the Aussie one now... Damn JaWoodle. Loved the frying pan montage! This one seems more aligned to survival than vanilla and I love it already. I'm going to die so man times but IDGAF.
Im suspecting that frying pan is an homage to Left4Dead 2, there was a melee frying pan in that game. And fun fact, at the start that was the best boss killer, because melee weapons did %-based damage to them, and the pan was the fastest swinger :)
Purple ones are super freaky lol. Yeah aa others said ap 9mm would be awesome for you as youre playing as the cop so you already jave crazy pistol and club skill. The more dukes book would've really helped too the weapon vending machines are insanely expensive.
If those glasses are even close to scale you are drinking about 2 gallons of water a day. Better to make the resource more scarce but the positive impact of drinking it much higher. Having to drink a pint of water every 5 minutes seems a bit daft.
@@Totallynotkyubey I love realistic mods, and most things in this game look great. But the need to eat 12 meals a day and drink gallons of water is a real,immersion breaker. I would say it’s counter realistic. It’s the opposite of realistic.
@PaulRoneClarke I don't think a single (old and moldy) sandwich qualifies as a full meal. Most of the stuff he eats are small items so afaic it's pretty realistic. 100% with you on the water tho.
@@PaulRoneClarke It has to work withnin the constrains of 7DTD, so there will always be nonsense like zombies teleporting out of thin air, janky, stuttering animations etc. I tried cataclysm: dark days ahead recently and it honestly handles the realism aspect much better - it's more fun, maybe because more things are abstracted.
@@Totallynotkyubey I agree CDDA is an excellent game. I’ve played it for over ten years at this point. The lack of graphical detail also,helps I think. It leaves things to the players imagination, where they tend to work better. Same with games like Dwarf Fortress.
Tried this mod and I really like it, tough, and its going to take some time to get used to it but I am having fun with it. I took all the zombies out of the world so I can get used to basically learning the game.
All the beers can be put into one barrel btw. The brand doesn't mean much. But every one of them ya toss into a barrel lets you keep the bottle. (glass jar). \
if u need a lot of resin u can get a bunch if u cut down the tree with the knife, just get it close then knife fight it for the win. and honey is cool in this mod just wait for honey combs to form then harvest with a glass jar. u might need to collect lots of different barrels for different liquid sources. this mod is supppppppper hard and grindy u will need to not build cus it takes so many resources to upgrade anything of value in strength.
in my game, I was ALL about the yucca juice. I massacred cacti and yucca plants by the swath. [he hadn't yet implemented sustainable farming] so the seeds were a diminishing return. but yucca juice was really good hydration! the purified water was good too. i seem to recall red tea being at least 24 hydration?

I would start taking points in the Survivor perk asap. If you don't, your vitality is going to tank hard in a few days, meaning much lower health, stamina, damage etc. The perk system almost feels like a trap, in that most of the perks are extremely situational and almost useless, while others give constant, critically important benefits. You should also craft the infection kit so you can keep track of the virus, since you're 100% infected now with how many hits you've taken.
@@GunsNerdsandSteel also if you use a knife on the zombie bodies.. all the zombies, not just the ones that are already dead. You get a lot of experience towards things.
If you add a wood bucket and a tarp to the camp fire it reduces the time to make clean water.

@chrishubbard64 plus finishing the book series gives a full bonus for the whole ammo type which is far more useful in more situations

Empty all your wine and everything else and two barrels and you'll get glass jars out of it stack up those glass jars folks

There are a ridiculous amount of wandering zombies in this overhaul.
To many of them I spent almost 15 minutes trying to loot a cop car because they kept coming to me chasing random animals

don't forget to make a couple buckets, and add a couple tarps to your water producing campfires it reduces their craft time.

Honey can be gathered from stumps that have bees swarming around them. The Manuka can be gathered at night, processed and mixed with the honey.

You never lose jars, not even making glue.

@@Totallynotkyubey I agree CDDA is an excellent game. I’ve played it for over ten years at this point. The lack of graphical detail also,helps I think. It leaves things to the players imagination, where they tend to work better. Same with games like Dwarf Fortress.
Tried this mod and I really like it, tough, and its going to take some time to get used to it but I am having fun with it. I took all the zombies out of the world so I can get used to basically learning the game.

All the beers can be put into one barrel btw. The brand doesn't mean much. But every one of them ya toss into a barrel lets you keep the bottle. (glass jar).

You can pick up the Wooden Barrels and locked chests take them home
If a stump has orange particles around it, it has honey you can harvest
if u need a lot of resin u can get a bunch if u cut down the tree with the knife, just get it close then knife fight it for the win. and honey is cool in this mod just wait for honey combs to form then harvest with a glass jar. u might need to collect lots of different barrels for different liquid sources. this mod is supppppppper hard and grindy u will need to not build cus it takes so many resources to upgrade anything of value in strength.

in my game, I was ALL about the yucca juice. I massacred cacti and yucca plants by the swath. [he hadn't yet implemented sustainable farming] so the seeds were a diminishing return. but yucca juice was really good hydration! the purified water was good too. i seem to recall red tea being at least 24 hydration?

I would start taking points in the Survivor perk asap. If you don't, your vitality is going to tank hard in a few days, meaning much lower health, stamina, damage etc. The perk system almost feels like a trap, in that most of the perks are extremely situational and almost useless, while others give constant, critically important benefits. You should also craft the infection kit so you can keep track of the virus, since you're 100% infected now with how many hits you've taken.
