"Coffee is easy to make", dude, I know people that can't boil water without burning it. Love the series so much that I installed the mod, thank you for the heads up on this. BTW, streaming has improved your presentation, that final "synopsis" was awesome and made me want to watch more.
just want to let you know that the effort you put into syncing the mundane tasks with the music doesnt go unnoticed. that was a great intro montage and was so smooth. .
Careful with that tower for your horde base. It's already very unstable if I recall. I did use this antenna and the roof of the building next to it for a horde base and the tower was crumbling every time a zombie destroyed a block at the base of the tower. The top part fell very fast. Good job on 7days and icarus. As always insane content. I also like the new outro. You sound like a DM after an intense session of D&D. :)
I’ve started playing this mod because of your review and I am loving it. I did turn off horde nights simply because I want to experience it first and get a decent grasp on it before turning it back on but I love the challenge even with the hordes turned off! If you’re low on jars grab a barrel and dump honey or wine into them to get the jars back. I love that aspect. The rain collectors on average catch between .25 and .5 per rain event so I made a second one. The perk point for doing more damage to lockboxes is a godsend so unless you have a good lockpicking skill or timed charges you should invest in that. It doesn’t work on safes so that’s a drawback. I’m very glad you introduced us to this mod. Version 1.0 was getting very stale but this mod is bringing fresh enjoyment to the game again. Thank you!
Same, I haven't played 7D2D for a while but after seeing the review here for the mod I had to try it out. It's much more survival oriented than vanilla and I love that about it.
I recently discovered by accident that harvesting broken workstations also increments you toward workstation crafting. Managed to get the last level I needed for the rain collector breaking down a chem station. Might need a proper harvest tool (wrench). Very cool mechanic when you think about learn by doing.
A tip I learned recently in the mod's discord is that you can activate your bed roll to sleep passing time and building up your rested buff. Sounds like doing that will be important for maintaining good vitality (who would have though sleeping was important for health).
See what I meant about the hordes? I wasn't expecting this too, so I made regular old door fighting position in a regular old house which was made out of wood mostly(expecting some regular old 10-20zombs, but no). Suffice to say that those zombs that throw clay(imo) had me running for cover in a matter of minutes and I got infection from some other zombies which had masks and we're really tough. Your base was excellent choice and really did help you with lots of the problems I had when I first faced this insane mod horde.
Increased the playback speed at around the 18 minute mark, right before finding the mega crush and talking about coffee. The timing of the fast talking and the caffeine hit gave me a good laugh.
I tried out this mod. I breezed through the tutorial, then found a little 3 skull military compound to raid and was a immediately swarmed by like 1000 zombies after a few mines went off. I did not survive... Good times! It's actually pretty cool, but takes a completely different mindset than vanilla, or even Darkness Falls.
I hate that poi its always the worst. The mines help but even the base game puts tons of zombies there. I usually have to climb on something and use a bow. I can't even imagine that poi with this mod.
OK, after playing this for a bit more, I've decided that I just don't have the patience for this mod. I'll be happy to just watch Tem play it. I feel like I'm barely treading water and making any progress is just an insurmountable goal. There's just soooooo many random zombies! I'd be happy with maybe like 20% less... it feels like they spawn right on top of you, even when you're sneaking and have no torch.
@@liastaob The dev for the mod did just release a update which reduced overall spawns by 25% and 50% less for screamer spawns. In terms of spawning right on top, that is pretty common, i struggled using sledgehammer due to the number of zombies vs stam cost per swing and was overwhelming a lot. I restarted and switched to Crawler, Sucker Punch perk gives you basically sledgehammer power attacks with next to no stamina cost because its fist weapons, usually 1 power hit knocks down most zombies outside ferals which take 2-3 and gives you way more crowd control, so i rushed Sucker Punch to lv5 before any other perk. Doing well now at day 31 still, playing Survivalist / Nightmare speed. Hope this helps maybe the spawn reduction will let you play easier too.
I really enjoy the amount of in game time your videos use. Most 7D2D CC's only video 1 in game day and a lot of times that equals nothing interesting happening in the video. Love your content and hard work.
Here is a fun little tip for you. I have found that the paintings that have a safe behind them, are incredibly valuable, but not for the reason you think. You can pick up the painting, and it will bring the safe with it at no extra weight increase. And when you look at it in your inventory it will tell you that the picture is "Locked" which indicates that it has a safe behind it. So now that you know that, you can go find them and bring them back to base to make it easier to loot them, and to have more storage at home
A thought: If random animals are drawing in zombies at the base, maybe setting up a spike fence would do the trick? I know that the animals caught on the spikes would draw in zombies, but hopefully, they will disperse afterwards. That or look for a location with barbed wire around it, for the next crafting base
damn those ice blasting zombies are insane, but gg on the first horde night. i'm excited to try it myself and yet scared at the same time. good stuff tem.
Great video. I just built a base in the exact same tower but tried to let then climb up in a cage and over engineered it... It worked, and I didnt die... But your use of the diagonal rail was much more effective!
For the longest time I've considered trying out mods but other than Fallout/Skyrim console mods that don't require anything but a download I was worried I wouldn't be able to figure PC modding though I tried that link for the mod service in the description so easily satisfying so thank you
I really like this series, there is a slowly growing mystery here. What are these new zombies? What happened to the trader? What does it all mean? Maybe when you get the ability to travel a bit more and arent living day by day off whatever you can manage to forage you will be able to investigate more.
Tem, my tips The shiraz bottles, transfer them to a barrel. All bottles for that can be used to gather dirty water. in the campfire, place a bucket and a tarp for faster water boiling. get as much paper as you can, if you can, destroy boxes. you can make those to create the literature pieces combined with ink. make more research stations if you can. and also those Bricks that is much better than cobblestone. and lastly. create a test kit so that you can check your infection level.
My group started playing when the Mod Dropped. If you dont know. You can get water by staring into the sky when it rains. How much you get depends on the severity of the Storm. But the really good Storms. I'm getting 35 to 40 water. The weaker storms are probably not worth it. I have been watching/patreon from "The Road" series. keep up the good work. love the Synopsis at the end of the shows.
Next time you find an un-destroyed trader compound, consider making that your homebase so you don't have to go back and forth to convert cash into dukes. + with the vending machines, it's a good way to stock up food and water without farming.
2 tips for you: 1 - you should really save blueberries to craft yourself a map. 2 - you've probably got tailoring up enough to craft a better backpack. Otherwise same reaction to the horde that I had, I just wasn't as lucky :D
Absolutely loving the series bossman! I love what you do and how you do it so, keep up the great work! It's only getting better! You are by and large, hands down my favorite 7DTD creator.
Yeah and I think whats also interesting is that horde night sends unlimited waves until its over. And not all zombies will try to go straight to you, they will try to claw their way on blocks making it quite different. And those guys that shoot.. OMG LOL
Tip Tem, empty the blue barrels first time with buckets and then Take them with you back to base. Don't destroy them. They'll hold a lot of water! You can also pick them up, take them to a water source block, put them down, fill them with buckets then haul the whole thing back to your base. Encumbered as hell but it'll suit early game needs.
Or move into a house with a pool, saves a long slow walk with the water ;) edit: also pour literally anything you can into those barrels for more jars, you also need the plastic barrels to make rain catchers, and collect up those cooking pots for more campfires.
storage boxes -> nails from pallets and barrels , dont waste blueberries -> map , rain catchers slow like hell - work on 2-3 campfires permanently and water is no problem , bicycle is fast but mechanical parts to construct don't , in my game it doesn't let me repair stun baton
Wow is right! You did well as unprepared for what happened as you were. The volume of zombies wasn't too bad, just the birds and the ranged zombies were a problem. And that's only the first horde, I wonder what else this mod will throw at you! 👍
A suggestion for your base: extend the walkway portion where your fighting out all the way around and make a secondary fighting position in the back side. Good luck.
REMEMBER...to loot all the Wine Bottles to get extra jars by emptying the contents into barrels or on the ground. . Some of the wine bottles are difficult to get the loot notification to appear. You passed by a bunch in the small apartment complex.
That's the same reaction I had to those rocket shooting bastards! The worst part of them, IMO, is with night vision on, they're almost impossible to tell apart from a cotton plant. I've shot a lot of cotton plants.
Wow that was definitely a unexpected turn for HN. Hope that zombie doesn’t spawn now in normal days. He could present quite the challenge up close. GG sir and digging the content!
Undead! Earthbender! Zombies! I'm just waiting for the inevitable Undead Fire Nation invasion. The early game seems really slowed down in this Mod with all the steps, ingredients and tools required. The absence of Traders really changes up the need to loot and raid much more. Looking forward to the next part, Tem!
Been subbed and watching 4 a bit now love ur modded series last one I watched was Fallout. I've been playing 7D2D since previous gen console finally got 2 playing on PC almost 2 years ago thankfully 😅
Research bench can also craft research notes and fake money which in turn the currency transfer machine can't distinguish the difference apparently. Paper cost is expensive though to balance that a little
My 1st & 2nd blood moons were spent afk silos 3rd week I saw 2 or 3 of those gast zombies. I went with Hoodlum for a couple failed runs though current run is Savage. I liked starting off with a shiv & lockpicks but being able 2 see your bed roll and starting with green minimum bone knife, bow, stone ax, and a bunch of arrows has been carrying early game.
"Who can't make coffee.. " I felt this in my soul. My husband had to make my coffee for literally 10 years of our marriage before I finally managed to not ruin it...
Mr.guns nerds and steel. Darkness Falls should be getting the 1.0 update in around 2 months or so. I've watch the A20 and the NYC darkness falls and i absolutely loved it. Can't wait for the mod to come out and see a couple of videos from you. Entertaining every time. This mod is also pretty fun looking, might give it a go as well. Take care and stay awesome ;)
Pro tip, load up on jars in this mod, as I'm pretty sure they're not craftable. Best way I know of is to keep an eye out for bottles of alcohol on the ground, beer, wine, etc., they are lootable and the alcohol can just be poured out on the ground for free jars. Rain collectors seem to be a waste of resources in my experience. Take forever to fill up. High investment, low return, would probably take 50 per person to sustain water reasonably. Lots of jars and several campfires boiling water seem to be the way to go, but it's still a struggle because of how long it takes to boil them out of infection. Putting wooden buckets in campfires cuts crafting time in half, but it's still 20 minutes for 1 jar of water, but a hell of a lot better than the 40 without. Bronze and iron buckets might increase the crafting speed further, haven't been able to test yet.
Temcam really has it out for you, Temreki. He's arming the shamblers with what appears to me to be thermite grenades. And zombie vultures on the Day Seven horde? Yikes! If those are showing up now... I'm concerned on when Temcam is gonna start throwing _Demos_ at you.
For water, I keep logs on the multiple fires and I always have infected water boiling into clean water. I also turn water into filtered water (50 hydration instead of 40 hydration bc it takes two water to make). Update, the horde started. I am crying laughing when the bombs started 🤣
Going to be a fun series, your base looks like a really bad swap meet with all your precious belongings strewen about. Must drive the ever meticulous GNS nuts, lol
Break every paper box and collect paper. At research desk on different tab you can craft book fragments from paper and black paste, which you can craft in mortar&pestle.
@Guns, Nerds, and Steel do yourself a favor and put a wooden bucket and tarp in your firepit. itll cut down on the time it takes to make drinking water by a bunch!
I think you are going to have to have a rifle with a scope on hand to take out those rock throwing zombies more efficiently. I am pretty sure that you are going to have some other types of "surprise" zombies later.
I think I'm gonna disable Horde Night for me. 😅 Do you want a little advice to upgrade your workstation crafting skill ? And how did you lock inventory slots?
"Coffee is easy to make", dude, I know people that can't boil water without burning it.
Love the series so much that I installed the mod, thank you for the heads up on this.
BTW, streaming has improved your presentation, that final "synopsis" was awesome and made me want to watch more.
Ironically there is a lot of debate in the coffee world about what is the right temperature for the water.
It's a strange, alchemical process for those of us that don't drink it!
@@smashed_penguin I don't drink but apparently 'cold brewed' is actuall best cause it doesn't make the coffee bitter?
@@pbsixgun6 yeah Boiled water can burn your coffee actually, its quite interesting - Im no coffee expert though, just drink it a lot haha

'Broken' torches can still be held and placed like vanilla torches. You're missing tools in your campfire that might help with water.
The increase in zombies around when you are home are just your fan club. They just want hugs
Love this series 👍
Break every paper box and collect paper. At research desk on different tab you can craft book fragments from paper and black paste, which you can craft in mortar&pestle.
It's definitely apparent why the mod creators highly recommended keeping the settings on default.
A fantasitc series! I have crap internet but i cant wsit to download this mod..its so much more emersive!
Gran video. Me parece un mod fantástico. Menudo trabajo de edición. Great job. Saludos y nuevo sub
@Guns, Nerds, and Steel do yourself a favor and put a wooden bucket and tarp in your firepit. itll cut down on the time it takes to make drinking water by a bunch!
Thanks Tem, cheers cobber.
A tip from my own playthrough, you can scrap your broken tools instead of throwing them on the ground!
If it is raining look up and your hydration will fill up slowly but it is better than nothing.
I think you are going to have to have a rifle with a scope on hand to take out those rock throwing zombies more efficiently. I am pretty sure that you are going to have some other types of "surprise" zombies later.
I think I'm gonna disable Horde Night for me. 😅
Do you want a little advice to upgrade your workstation crafting skill ?
And how did you lock inventory slots?
