So I just now discovered your videos but I’ve watched them all in one sitting haha. I have a 1970 convertible bug that I am working on. It’s really inspiring and motivating to see another low budget home VW build. There are many naysayers out there that will say you can’t use a cheap welder, can’t do paint/bodywork yourself, etc. I’m like you working with a flux wire welder and doing everything on my own with limited experience (just a general knack for mechanical and constructive projects). It’s easy to get discouraged and your videos really help. Good luck to your little family, can’t wait to see you finish this project soon :)

If you are in Oklahoma, get on the web and look up Earl Mann's Bug Shop, Ardmore Oklahoma. He stocks many parts, restores VW's and complete repair shop. Rick Mann is the manager and a great guy to work with.

You have likely resolved the shift issue by now but if don’t have all the gears it’s is likely the shift plate in floor OR shift coupler back near transmission...Both are super easy fixes and might just be loose!

Your actual exhaust kills hp, a merged 4-1 system will give you plenty of power and a nice sound. Smart decision to get the 40 idf off, that thing eats fuel like a 2 ton truck (but makes very good power if tuned right) Keep the updates! I love this build

@clark underwood. Hey Clark. Can you tell me where you purchased your rear quarter glass from? I want to get rid of the left rear vent wing & if you purchased a rubber kit, where you got that from. West coast Metric has a complete rubber kit for just under $900. Thanks
Not being a jerk. Just saying you need to be able to kill the engine with the key. That means you have constant power to the coil. You could burn up the coil. Drain the battery and burn up the points (If you have them) also you need to put on the piece of metal that goes infront of the engine with the engine seal and deck lid latch. Without that the hot cooling air from the engine. Could get sucked back into the cooling tins and overheat the engine. Just trying to help.
Super appreciate the concern! All of that will be done! This was just a quick “will it move moment” definitely don’t intend on driving it with those things missing / not sorted. Thanks for pointing these things out though I could definitely be missing things so keep it coming!
Hello, you have second, gear just step, on the clutch and pull Down on, the gear selector, step on the, clutch again and push The gear, selector up for, third gear step, on the clutch again And pull, down the gear, selector down for, high gear. Now for Reverse, step on the, clutch and push, down on the stick and go Over ,over .
I disagree. The original fuse panel (if you can find one) will only control what the bus did... originally. There have been some serious enhancements since then. Air conditioning being one. Others like blue-tooth, wi-fi, and additional battery come to mind. Those extra fuse slots will come in very handy. The best part would be relocation of fuse panel to a more conveinent location, and knowing the fuse (and wiring) location for every electrical system in the bus. Just sayin...
