You can't any longer. They've since implemented a minimum 3 pitch rule, but teams have done this before. I vaguely remember the Cards or maybe Cubs doing this...but that would have been a looong time ago.
They introduced the pitch clock to shorten the game, so these teams are trying to extend the games as long as possible even if it causes mass confusion. LOL
I thought that a pitcher had to face three batters before he could leave the game, barring an injury or something like that. Is that not a rule anymore?
