For those of you who commented that the voice in this video sounds very different than what Zhang Huoding normally sounds like are correct. The singer in the video is indeed is Zhang, but the singing is an old recording of another famous singer. A group interested in the historical preservation of Chinese opera commissioned a number of videos in which other singers pretended to sing in order to preserve the recordings of the older artists.
Can anyone tell me what the story is here? I don't speak a lick of Chinese, but I recognize this song (or story at least) from many other videos? Is it a staple in Chinese opera?
Its says that is zhang huo ding but it doesnt sound or look like her. This sounds like another equally as well known actress with this same deep sound to her voice and distinct phrasing of words/notes
She may look freaky but that's how's done people ;) what is this about and what is she saying? now wonder everyone saying she's freaky how she does her face and looks mad lol I mean angry
this singer can't be Zhang HuoDing as the other singer of the same name looks totally different and sounds also completely totally different.. I think there is a mix of names here.. ps. this singer pretty in make up does look like a man whereas the other one.. (on A dream in the Girl's Room) also v. pretty def. looks and moves like a girl.. I hope someone can clarify this..

Very different. I'll definitely attend the Beijing Opera..:)
Do you have more of her clips? Longing to see more. Thank you for your time to upload them. Cheers.
@stuckIN801 i'm Chinese and i dont understand what he's singing without looking at the subtitles. It's so different than the way we actually speak.
Impressive vocals

Teehee :)
Would be nice to know what's going on though!
I repeat can somebdy translate this one? The Chinese verses are superb literature itself!
Why her voice and appearance are different from "A Dream in the Girl's Room"? Is it because this was taken a long long time ago?
she looks very freaky, imagine waking up to see that face!!!!!!!!
Awesome..Even with Boy George n Ozzy combine their voice would'nt get near "him"
She may look freaky but that's how's done people ;) what is this about and what is she saying?
