the artist names zhang huo ding who is the best actress of chinese opera in china today
Wow
Can anyone identify what opera this is part of? It's such a beautiful piece in so many ways!
Glad I come back and listen to her again. Delightful as ever !
Impressive vocals
Pls stop this agony
well that was shit
perhaps in Cheng School she is highly ranked but certainly NOT the most well-known or well-like opera singer in Chinese opera today.
Can anyone tell me what the story is here? I don't speak a lick of Chinese, but I recognize this song (or story at least) from many other videos? Is it a staple in Chinese opera?
Got here by accidentally putting "uygv" in google search
Im done.
For those of you who commented that the voice in this video sounds very different than what Zhang Huoding normally sounds like are correct. The singer in the video is indeed is Zhang, but the singing is an old recording of another famous singer. A group interested in the historical preservation of Chinese opera commissioned a number of videos in which other singers pretended to sing in order to preserve the recordings of the older artists.
stonerr76now that makes a lot of sense. Thank you very clearing this matter up!

stephjuhler999 Peking opera is like sushi, you need to develop a taste for it.

we went to a performance a the Beijing Hotel in Beijing.......... most of our group hated it but I wanted more..............there is a lot of color, a lot of acrobatics action etc.........
U know like the term "Google It"? Well u should 'Wiki it'! coz I can't b bothered to tell u myself
I saw that too. Absolutely A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! This one is a bit odd for someone who doesn't speak Chinese. The first time i saw (or rather heard) Chinese opera I commented that it sound like a cat and a chicken being slowly strangled at the same time. But once you learn Chinese you are more likely to get a taste for it. (certainly an acquired one)!
+Tiwaking Tiwaking Sounds like something your tiger mom might play to punish you for getting an a - in math.
do we even have to mention and talk about this? :/
I saw the Beijing Opera version of "Journey West", and it was beautiful. Maybe annette37a should try that first before she tackle something more advanced than this.

Thats me on stage, Both of em: Me. My life. On stage.
All the people bitching here...just makes me wonder...if humans are really created to resemble and be like God...what is God?
Beautiful
Its says that is zhang huo ding but it doesnt sound or look like her. This sounds like another equally as well known actress with this same deep sound to her voice and distinct phrasing of words/notes
这首歌为什么起来像锁麟囊?
beauty transcends cultural divisions- the story is told in movement, facial expressions and song which are all universal- even if you don't speak Chinese it is still lovely, just set aside for a moment your cultural bias and enjoy
im not chines but i think you should show some respect
how very elegant!
We had tickets for the Chinese Opera, but my wife forgot the sandwiches.

Jingju is performed by men dressed as women.
@pogo747 it shouldn't really matter coz one of them is acting the role of a woman in the play, therefore it should be seen and considered as a hetero kiss. Just sayin'
I thought the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution got rid of all this. What the hell went wrong?
this is my favorite chinese opera excerp. I know it by heart. Who's singing?
My grandma would love this so much!!!
this is my favorite! I can sing it by heart, and I'm not chinese. It's soooo good!
why are these men dress up like women? Ha Ha
@mevansmusic the main instruments used in Chinese Opera are urheen and drum.you can google them .
ew
Mevansmusic, by "just the music" do you mean the instruments without the voices? Because in my book, voices make music too.
Does anybody know which orchestra (or whatever you want to call it) plays this kind of music full time? I love the music (and this opera) but i'm looking specifically for just the music, let me know, i really appreciate it.
