The Automobilista 2 1.3 update will be addressing a few of the things I mentioned in this video, namely the ranked mutiplayer beta and big changes to car physics and FFB. I'll be doing a follow up video to see what these updates are like soon!
I'm also from Australia. I'm not a very serious (sim) racing player, so I like to play racing games with chase camera and controller (I have a wheel, but I don't have the energy to set and pack it up). AMS2 is currently my favourite racing game at the moment. The AI is competitive, the game has a great chase cam, plays well on a controller (for me, at least) and I admire the Brazilian content. The content gives the game a certain charm to it that's hard to find in other racing games, similar to Gran Turismo with its Japanese tracks/cars/etc. I'd definitely recommend AMS2 to players that are a teensy bit on the casual side, though unfortunately, the game is probably too pricey for the average Joe. The lack of modding can also be a deal breaker for a lot of people too (I personally don't like modding myself).
It’s probably one of the best. Looks great and the upcoming 1.3 patch (later this week) promises some frankly amazing improvements across the board. It has a few of the most interesting series present and some tracks that are not anywhere else. Livetrack 3 makes the driving experience truly dynamic and I have a feeling the tire model is getting up there with the best. Braking just feels right with AMS2. Ranked mp beta coming up and for single players they promise editable ai driver liveries and behaviour. At least it certainly has proved itself to be the one to look out for, if not straight up invest in.
It's definitely a great time to get into AMS2 with all the upcoming changes. I really believe that it has the potential to be truly great, let's hope they nail it!
Seems you are now able to mod cars into AMS2, though doesn't look like a simple solution. Fingers crossed we get something like Content Manager for AC down the line!
5:28 there are custom cars available for download. Very few, as for now every update requires all mod cars to be re enabled manually, and new updates generally happen every month
I guess you set yourself for a follow up video with the new update on physics. Looking forward to it, keep it up. I have purchased AMS2 this past month, with VR and gamepad is very enjoyable and am now addicted.

Solid video , new subscriber here ! AMS2 has lot's of potential but still feels that something's missing. Some cars are pretty good and fun to drive ( i really like the Mini Cooper) and others are just a disaster ( like the Super V8 ). Exiting slow corners is a nightmare coz no matter how gently you turn , lift and throttle, the car just slides all over ( or is just me, who knows). Anyways, nice and solid video!
Looking forward to your AMS2 1.3 review next week. 😉 Regarding the AI, when was the last time you did a multiplayer race where all the drivers acted predictably, where no-one dive-bombed or ran into the back of you? If you drive against the AI as you would real drivers, defending into turns, using your mirrors to avoid possible rammers, you'll have a much better experience. Also, tuning the AI strength to match your own ability makes a huge difference. Making it too easy causes them to brake earlier, which sometimes causes you to bump into them as you break later.
Surely it's a good choice. You know, Madness Engine: Simulation. Physics: Simulation. Driver Animations: Simulation. Realism: Simulation. I don't see an issue with this sim at all.
They just announce online rating system and multiplayer enhancement are about to be release. Also modding runs fine, despite not being easily installed at the moment.
Yeah seems that's actually really new, I didn't realise. Though doesn't seem like a simple solution. I'd like to see something akin to Assetto Corsa, but I don't see that happening any time soon, not without proper mod tools
Yeah I saw SimRacing604's video, and I might give it a go to see what's on offer, I'm glad it's available in some capacity, but hopefully it continues along this path and gets better!
Perfect way to do a comparison between the changes! Also, I don't think my recommendation to buy the game would change after 1.3, if anything there'll likely be more reason to buy it haha
why buy this when there is assetto corsa ? i find this game graphic is inferior maybe because i am using a rx570 as i cannot max anything but asseto corsa looks much better on my system with better car models too
G’day Nick. Short answer no. It’s a bit simcade (Project Cars). Looks good but that’s it. The cars are a bit hit & miss the free Corvettes that they released well were laughable. If I need HD space it will be the 1st one to get deleted. Cool video mate. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃

I wonder how many people would keep repeating that thing with Madness Engine (Aye sticky diffs this sticky diffs that...) if they were not told before. Old cars in AMS2 feel really great and I am not afraid to compare the joy of driving vintage formulas with joy I had with GPL. Yes, not as deadly on wrong revmatching.
The content is the best coming out of any first party development studio today. It’s just too bad the cars are poorly setup and the ffb sucks….even with files. Strange, kinda like the PCars franchise.
i own this game and it just does NOT compare to Automobilista at all.Ok the graphics are alot nicer but in terms of driving feel.You cant beat the original.I own all the sim racing titles and i really want ams2 to be good.I keep trying it after updates but feel disapointed every time.hopefully this gets sorted

Project Cars 2 Engine doesnt offer modding support, thats why. Might be difficult to change that.

It's definitely right up there for me, if it just got a little better in the FFB and car physics, it'd almost be untouchable

There is a free demo out now. So everyone can test it. Only one car (125hp VW) and one track, but its enough to get a sense for this game.
Yeah I wanted to install that to try the VW but you can't have it and the full game installed at the same time apparently

Downloaded AMS2 off the back of all the recent v1.3 reviews. It's not fixed.... in 10 years it's the only thing asked Steam for a refund.

Assetto can definitely look amazing, especially with mods like Sol and CSP etc, but for an out of the box experience, AMS2 looks excellent!

rF2 for the ultimate sim, after ACC for the amzing immersion and content quality
