I watched it with pleasure, but I’m afraid that this master will cut off his little fingers one day - he puts them very close to the cutting disc while working
From a plain blue glass to usable art! Absolutely stunning work! I don't think I could afford one of these, but I would treasure it if I could ever acquire one!
The tools and the tecniques he uses are all common in european glas art aswell. To buy such glases is expensive for a glas, but not so much, that a normal person couldn't affort it.
Fortunate for those who have the funds to own such magnificent examples of the artist's incredible talents. Fortunate for the artists who have the skill and the training to carry on the oldest traditions of cutting a simple glass tumbler and creating a dazzlingly beautiful object, and to be well compensated for continuing an artform that could otherwise be lost forever. Stunning pieces and I actually have a few of them. One of my friends lives just outside of Kyoto (known her since 2002 as she was an exchange student at my school) and she sent me a similar piece to me. Others I found at Antique shops by coincidence. Stunning works of art and I'm glad to see this shop still lives on since 1884.
@@jonathansmith2824 incorrect. I wear safety glasses when I'm cold working but goggles are overkill for something like this. The running water traps the dust, so a mask is also largely unnecessary.
I have beautiful thick deeply cut glass crystal bowls, cups, vases and other items. They belonged to my great grandmother and were probably made in the mid 1800’s. They were made in England and the designs are every bit as complex and perfect as these. Today companies like Waterford have two quality levels. One is for regular customers with the pieces having some cast design elements with a bit of hand work to complete the design. The good stuff is of much higher quality and design. They are entirely hand made including blowing of the glass. These are extraordinarily expensive.
The fact that this guy is talented is crystal clear

I believe he was only filming without wearing a mask.
There’s a vacuum in the setup, we can see the huge tube above. It’d still be safer without a proper mask, I agree.
The small stream of water he put on the cutting wheel at the beginning catches all of the dust, greatly reduces the need for a mask.
