    I love when I find a new mentor that does things I have been struggling with, is easy to understand, and doesn't skip things they learned and now do automatically. Can't wait to watch your other videos. :)

  • @MrTrev2u

    In Photoshop you can use the transform tool in Camera Raw to straighten a RAW image. Additionally, if you're working with a tif or jpg file, you can go Filter > Camera Raw Filter > Transform Tool and straighten the image as well. Photoshop doesn't give you the zoomed in box to show where your curser is however.

    • @demasrusli
      @demasrusli  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohh thanks for the tip! I'll give that a go next time - I think the thing to watch out for is if it crops the image (destructively) after the straightening process. Because in the video (the way I do it in Photoshop), you can still access the parts of the image that get cropped.

    • @MrTrev2u
      @MrTrev2u 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@demasrusli That's a good point. I usually try to give myself enough room that that doesn't become an issue, but it might actually crop the image similar to adjusting for camera distortion. (I checked back and it does crop it unfortunately. Still good for quick edits but not for all instances.)
      The way you show in photoshop is actually the way I had learned to do it originally about 12 years ago. I may have to look into learning Lightroom a little more as well.

      @@demasrusli My go-to in PS is the Camera RAW editor... Shift-command A, then Shift T... it includes guided uprights. No need to click Guided, just start drawing lines vert and horiz, good to go. And you can adjust the "scale" so not to crop unnecessarily

    I have seen it used when correcting panoramic images of urban scapes where straight or horizontal lines or edges have become slightly curved due to the camera not being perfectly level.

    • @demasrusli

    I love short form videos. What I'm looking for is step by step Lightroom tutorials for beginners. I couldn't really see what you were doing since your Lightroom interface was too small. It would've been more helpful if I could see what you were doing. There also seems to be a number of ways to straighten images in Lightroom, so for a beginner it's a little bit overwhelming.

      Thank youu! I do have the normal speed video but this video was more about how to straighten the photo as a technique. I have another video on my channel about how I usually edit in Lightroom though if you want to watch that. Otherwise - I brought back the sky by pulling down a graduated filter from the top of the image and then dropping the highlights way down so bring back the clouds :) Give that a try next time you have a blown out sky

    Very USEFUL video!!! This is actually the first tutorial about straightening (in PS) that I've found in TH-cam... and it has provided me lots of info I had no idea about...!! My way of straightening pictures (I am also obsessed with straight lines!) is: Lightroom, transform, off modality, play with sliders...🙈 Will definitely give your way a try!!! P.S: I am not saying where you get your t-shirt from, as more than ten people already did😂, however about your future topics, I am sure that whichever you'll pick is gonna be useful!!

    Thanks for sharing! Can I ask you how can you be sure that the proportion of the building remain the same? Or at least similar..Tx

    Thank you. I have a question for you. I import my photos into LR and edit them in PS. I do a lot of small architecture photography. When I straighten my photos in PS, I use the transform / warp tool and I use multiple ruler lines throughout the image to ensure that both the verticals and horizontals are straight and level. When I save them back into LR, I sometimes doublecheck the straightening by using the auto angle function (Crop & Straighten). The LR auto level always corrects the PS edits, which makes no sense to me as I use the rulers in PS to ensure my lines are straight. Is there a disconnect between PS and LR when it comes to straightening?

    There's a perspective crop tool now in PS which seems to work quite well for me.
