Haven't played for years but love viper. Goat of aoe even if he quit today and very pragmatic with how he promotes the community and how he generates content. The hero age of empires needs but doesnt deserve. Love your work mate

I don't understand why people are always telling him what to do.
1. He is one of the best players in the world (if not the best), he has probably already considered and dismissed your idea.
2. It's rude. In most tactical games you don't comment on a players moves because it can influence the outcome of the game (poker for example).
I get people are trying to help but it must be irritating for him.

Personally, TheViper has one of the best personalities and streams.
Also, asking questions or making "stupid" suggestions prompts him to reply in a very educational way. Thus, not only is his stream funny and entertaining, but people, including me, learn a lot from his comments including when he disagrees with twitch chat.
i dont think it bothers him at all. its all about having conversations, thats one way of having conversation with your viewers. talking about the game thats currently being played. in this way, twitch chat also feels as if they're involved in the game viper is playing, sole reason why stream is different than recorded videos.

It's just sad to hate on people for talking about the game currently being played on and where there's a platform through which people can discuss and interact. But, yeah, you're free to call me, anyone whatever you want.

Hey Viper, I really enjoyed the analysis at the end.
I was wondering do you think Britons need a nerf? It seemed that Vivi had the advantage for a lot of the game but in Imperial he couldn't do anything. Your micro meant that any onager play just failed, they died before they could reach anything. He can't win a treb war. Skirms would melt because they don't get the final armor upgrade. You said woads + rams was the play but if you just wall in your onagers around your castles (this situation didn't arise, but you probably would have done that) to kill the rams is there anything he can do about it? I really like the mangonel line in aoe2 but it just feels like the civs that rely on it get completely dominated by Britons.
I understand some matchups Britons struggle with because the other civ has very strong anti-archer units and Britons are 1 dimensional in that way (eagles, lith skirms, tarkans, imperial skirms etc) but without those sorts of units it feels really tough if the Britons player micros well and uses onagers vs rams.
well like viper said, the early game was a disaster.. It's more the amazing defense from Viper that kept him alive, not the strength of Britons, to mass longbow, go onagers trebs and some monks during mid game.. That is crazy expensive on gold, the fact that he perfectly balanced it and had micro that is just amazing. If Celts push like this I think it's GG most of the time for Britons
@@bont3 I agree that Viper obviously played really well, and I am not trying to say that playing like that is easy. But good game balance is when if one player does something really good with a civ then if the other player does something really good with their civ then the game is competitive. Each side can continually outplay each other to decide who wins.
Right now however it feels like if Britons plays as good as Viper did that game then it feels like Celts just have no answer - like no matter how well Vivi plays against that he loses. If Britons stuff up by getting hit by a mangonel shot in castle age or something then they can lose, but with good enough micro to prevent it (and macro behind it) it feels like there is no answer for Celts, or most civs for that matter.
@@ottomann4846 Yeah, I get what you mean.. Which is true but civs are pretty balanced, the civs always have their strong periods, for celts that's begin castle age I beleive.. Where for Britons it's known that it is really hard to push. But when the snowball starts rolling it's also hard to stop. For me personally I think Britons are good as they are. I get slapped pretty often with britons, and sometimes I slap with britons. There are always counter civ match ups and there will always be. Don't think you can balance every civ like that.
@@bont3 I guess I just don't like the one dimensionality of it. It feels like Britons can only do one thing, if their opponent's civ has a straight up anti-archer thing then Brits struggle, if they don't then Brits win. That sort of one dimensionality leads to a lot more civ wins and civ losses in matchups involving Britons imho, and I don't like that. Maybe suggesting only a nerf isn't the best (although they are S tier on arabia and arena, so that says a lot) and perhaps they need some kind of buff to deal with their counters.
Putting it another way, if there was a civ that insta-won against the bottom third civs but insta-lost vs the rest of the civs then even though this civ isn't particularly good, it is still poorly designed. In my view the fewer civ wins the better, there should always be counterplay and I feel like the main thing an extra range bonus, particularly in castle age, does is to simply make strategies surrounding mangonel pushes invalid, and since you basically need mangonels to push in castle age it removes the option to push in castle age and I don't think that is good for the game. One thing I was thinking about was what if Britons got free bodkin but didn't get + 1 range in castle age? Upon hitting castle age their xbows are actually stronger because + 1 damage and same range as before, but they cant be upgraded with bodkin to outrange mangonels.
@@ottomann4846 True, Civ wins always feel kind of meeeh to be honest. So you're right about that. Free bodkin arrow could maybe work, but the longbows are historically accurate so they will stay as a unique unit. So at least the longbows will have more range. And aren't they basically becoming a worse civ than ethiopians if you make that change?

I agree with your assessment that vivi should have made skirms or something instead of going 4 TC. If you notice this is also where you go from being behind in villagers to 8 ahead. Which means not only did he make a 4th TC but during that time he wasn't producing any villagers. If he committed on one or the other I think he would have been better off.

@@michaeldorn5330 My point was just that the joke flows better that way in my opinion. Viper speaks better English than some native speakers I know. In answer to the other guy the languages I can use are limited to English, Basic, C++, and Python. The British education system is notoriously poor at teaching second languages unfortunately, probably one of the worst in the world.
