As Jamie Lee Curtis said, we’re witnessing „the wiping out generations of beauty”. These young women haven’t got the chance to grow into their own features and be proud of them. Plastic surgery culture is not empowering at all.

She's so rich she could literally quit everything and disappear. They own private islands, girl doesn't have to live this life, she wants the fame and money, and she makes it profiting off other girls insecurities.
I'm sorry I still don't feel sympathy for her, even the 'sad' parts of the keeping up with the Kardashians are likely scripted.

I love your point that she may actually want this & who wouldn’t enjoy aspects of their lifestyle; but the truth is they are SO scripted & deliberately curated in public We don’t know details or what pressure she is naturally contracted to away from the cameras by just being in the family. There’s so many examples of this in Hollywood.
I for one hope that she can break away & maybe do what she actually wants. Wishing that for anyone who feels stuck in their lives.

I can’t feel bad for Kylie. She controls the image she puts out and then says she doesn’t like what she does. She can change and her fans will follow. I grew up on their show. It was obvious Kris favoured Kim and didn’t treat the rest the best until they started making her money. Kylie is mainly on social media to sell things and dispute when people expose them.

Totally agree. They refuse to acknowledge they can influence everyone around them if they wanted. The problem is that the kardashians are successful because they copied the black community and deny it. They copied black womens features using plastic surgery and deny it. If Kylie changes her tune, the entire family (ie like 11 people) will suffer but her milliions of followers will breathe easier. You should talk about Khloe. I feel like they've always seen her as the "uglier" and "larger" sister. Now that she's lost a bunch of weight people seem to view her differently... Also, I'm noticing that Kim is putting her kids in the spotlight more and more. North clearly doesn't want the paparazzi taking her photo and Kim compared Chi to Kendall, implying that she could be a model. And she even edits her kids in photos! I think that the reason she chooses not to leave the fame and social media is because she’d feel worthless without it (and she’d miss out on all that $$ of course). She wasnt favored until she changed her appearance drastically so the family’s hierarchy has shaped her a LOT. Her life has been built around it since their show started, and she probably doesn’t know why she’s famous and lacks purpose, but she can’t turn away because it’s the only life she’s ever known, and she probably wonders who would she even be without it anyway?

There is a scale, money doesn’t make people happy you are allowed to feel bad for someone in a smaller sense and feel worse for people going through worse. We are all humans at the end of the day, all going through loads of different things and you can feel bad for the parts of your own life, things that friends or strangers in less financial/emotionally stable situations and still have a little bit of empathy for someone who has gone through less. Controversy gets headlines, people come to peek and comment. People love to hate the KarJenners, so in that sense she is giving people what they want.
You don't really hear a lot about Kim's Skims brand because it's not problematic. It's good quality, decently priced, inclusive advertising. to be fair, it did not help that she started getting lip fillers around the age of 17-18, where you are still a young teen that gets influenced easily. she must have been influenced from a very young age. it's like a disease. everyone around her, including her sisters, all got surgery, while kendall was praised for looking like a ''natural supermodel''. kylie may have felt a bit left out. she did claim she was insecure of her lips because of one boy and the bullying from others made her change them. it's a lot to take in as a young teenager. i wonder if her mum ever tried to ensure that she was beautiful just the way she was even if she did look a bit different from her other sisters.

Plus, people with fame and fortune can always step away from that which makes them stressed. People like the Kardashians/Jenners have more money than we can imagine, but instead of walking away and getting far from the toxic standards they've helped create, they remain since they love the attention. BUT I cannot feel more than 1 second of sadness for her current form given she has access to unlimited resources while others go without food, shelter, and healthcare. She could use her money for good but she has rather chased more and more wealth, and by being as wealthy as she is, she has CERTAINLY exploited less privileged people to attain that wealth. Let's talk about the anxiety of those working long hours in her makeup factores where they probably couldn't afford a therapist. Kylie doesn't need anything, whereas there are millions of people more in need of help and action and awareness than her. Just want to say I'm not bashing these videos, just don't see why we have to feel bad for these ultra wealthy people who will never give up even a minute piece of their privilege for the better of others. Let's empower and platform those without millions of dollars for a change!

  • @GenerallyAnnoying

Hi Stephanie! I enjoyed the video and I appreciate the message in your video, but I still feel that it's hard to sympathise with Kylie. Anxiety, for example, is something very many people suffer from, but I am sure it's a lot easier to cope with when you have billions of dollars and all the resource that comes with wealth. Many people have a difficult childhood or feel bullied, but having staff at hand, lots of money, and even the luxury of a close-knit family and sisters to confide in that have the same struggles must be a nice thing! So even with all this said in the video, I still can't seem to feel bad for her. HOWEVER, I do appreciate YOUR empathy and the work you're doing to humanise these celebrities.

I don't know, I love my therapist and would t trade her for the best or highest paid doctor in the world. A good therapist can develop a good relationship and help anyone. No one needs millions, but I feel a lot of anger coming from you and I'm guilty of misplaced anger. I think I would be more upset with the way your government is handling mental health. Given the tremendous negative impact that Kylie and her sisters are inflicting on young women around the globe, especially lying to them about "working hard" to achieve the bodies they are constantly air-brushing/filtering and getting surgery to create, I think we are better served by deconstructing the falsehoods and revealing them for what they are than trying to make us feel empathy for them. Every time we even think about these toxic women, it makes them money. By trying to "humanize Kylie" you are making viewers more likely to give them a free pass for their outrageously bad behaviour. "There is a lot to be jealous of when it comes to Kylie Jenner". Heck no. That's such a gross idea to me. To be a sell-out and just pump out merchandise with your name on it, just to line your greedy pockets. Especially if she doesn't even have a passion for her career and endorses beauty products she doesn't love wearing daily. Very gross. Where is her ethics, morals, dignity and integrity? She has shown us numberous times that she has none.
She is not a little girl anymore, and is even raising humans of her own, which is concerning on a whole different level.

Idk, I definitely agree with your take on how sad Kylie’s life can be. She definitely seems to have a sort of sadness surrounding her childhood. I could be totally wrong but sometimes I get the impression she regrets chasing the spotlight as much as she did when she was younger. For example, her relationship w Tyga, she was too young to be dating a MAN that much older. She was underage! And it’s obvious the influence he had on her as woman, because Kylie before Tyga & Kylie after Tyga are extremely different. Like I feel the worst for her in that regard because that man took her youth & innocence away, and her family did absolutely nothing to protect her or keep her out of a relationship with an adult.
All that being said, I don’t feel bad for her as of now. She’s a grown adult who knows what she’s doing, if she wanted to be out of the spotlight like Rob Kardashian, she could find a way. She has the money to do so & has done so successfully with both of her pregnancies. If Kylie doesn’t want to be seen, she doesn’t have to be. She very much enjoys her lifestyle & her money (otherwise she wouldn’t flaunt her jet) & she is actively choosing money over her mental health if social media is that draining for her. And, she subjects her child(ren) to it as well for profit (Kylie Baby). She’s a grown adult with millions, she doesn’t have to do anything that she doesn’t want to anymore. So for those reasons, I just don’t feel sorry or sad for her.

They all the resources to invest their money into things that would allow them to literally do nothing and have a very comfortable life. They all the resources to invest in their education and pursue other professional paths. They all have the connections to be successful in those professional paths. They all complain about the pressure of living up to a beauty standard, they specifically created and none of them acknowledge their role in it. They’ve created a church they “donate” too when they’re the ones who own the church that isn’t real outside of being on paper. They do this to avoid paying taxes. They’re not the only rich people who do this, but that doesn’t make it okay. I have no sympathy for people like them. They have access to literally anything and they choose this.

I think that the reason why the Forbes drama happened is because of a couple of things- 1- Kris is a garbage parent and thinks she can fix her relationship with her children by doing stuff like that (lying to get them more attention) 2- The Karjenner family aren't great business women. They hire great people to run businesses for them, but they themselves are not great at it and do not know the difference between profit and revenue. Sure, revenue wise, Kylie could have been a billionair but profit wise, probably not. When Forbes realized it, they retracted their article. I can only feel sorry for them on a human level for so long, Kylie saying she has anxiety (which I am sure she does have) is all a ploy to make the general public feel sorry for her and her family. I do believe she has it. And I believe they all need therapy. But they have become wrapped up in the blanket they helped knit and now are suffocating. I blame Kris for all of their issues. She as a parent forgot that. She forgot she was their mom and only sees them as money. She is such an narcissist that she forgets they are human as well. She only cares about their success because it comes from her. As a parent, there is no way in hell I would use my daughter's smex tape to profit off of. It feels illegal.

It always made me feel sorry for Kylie cause she was like Khloe - considered the less attractive of the sisters and it must've been really hard on someone so young. It's pretty remarkable though that today she's the one with the biggest following - surpassing Kim even. Sad that it all happened after she altered her appearance, no wonder she's insecure and feels like she has to keep playing a role - she got what she has because of the image she created not who she really is

I'm always bothered when I hear people say that they don't have sympathy for Kylie because she herself perpetuated the beauty standards that she struggles from having to live up to. I accept this criticism of the older sisters, namely Kim, but I don't think that it's fair to apply it to Kylie. She was a child when this all began, and as such, she was as susceptible to negative influences as any of the rest of us growing up. It was therefore ingrained in her to continue the cycle of taking in, creating, and trying and failing to live up to these toxic standards. Why do you think she was the one who had the most work done, and changed the most? She was the youngest, and therefore the one most easily influenced and harmed. She's a Dr. Frankenstein of sorts, but only because the first monster she created was in herself.

Now how can Kylie say that growing up in the spotlight with millions of people watching isn't normal and ruined her childhood when she's doing the exact same thing to her daughter she puts her daughter all over social media so gimme a break

As much as I agree about Kylie being so insecure, the modeling thing was out of hand. I know how it feel having a little sister who always need the attention and when I’m having a moment to shine she is jealous. I’m sorry but kris was right for trying (and failing) to teach her that she don’t need to be in the center of attention for once
And yes I get this is from her insecurities, their parents should have send both of them to therapy. But her rage was also because she used to be the center of attention and she wasn’t at the moment

You said what I was thinking. It was odd to me that after she saw the response Kendall got from Kris, she went and did the same by creating a book. And when she didn’t get the same, she threw the book at her mom?? What a little brat!! I appreciate Stephanie for humanizing Kylie, but I just cannot sympathize.

Nothing to be jealous of. I am so grateful I was not born into that family and was born into the one I have. My gosh.

Oof the part about Kendall's modeling contract hit too close to home. My sister was the slim beautiful one and my parents were so much more supportive and complimentary of her. It all backfired on them because she found the golden child role suffocating and damaging and went no contact as soon as she finished college.

That’s so true about the Kardashians suing people. They will literally sue anyone and everyone and the fact the didn’t sue Forbes speaks volumes.
That family definitely knows how to play the public but if you look close enough you can see the cracks

Right? Like okay, if they're struggling with their mental health, they have the money and resources to work on it. I can't say the same about myself and most people in the country.
