I backed this back in March 2023 and it delivered last month. It is beautiful on the table and has a great presence. Love the constant tension throughout the game, each move is push and pull.
100% agree, the gameplay is magic, a sort of dance between the states before war inevitably occurs, the production is fantastic, I'm a big fan - I want to get it to the table again ASAP!
It’s a great production upgrade on the previous version. There are 2 camps, the camp of Tigris & Euphrates is better, and the camp of Yellow & Yangtze is more forgiving. Personally I will wait for the new production of T&E, which I think is the better game.
Yeah there's a school of thought that because T&E has square tiles, it is much tighter. I don't think that because Huang is more forgiving it's any worse, just that's it's different with a different pace. I will of course play the T&E remake when it comes out, and THAT will be a fun comparison video to make!
@@boardstupiduk True, better is never quite the correct word to use, as its so subjective. I find T&E more 'epic' than Y&Y. It will be a cracking video when you get to compare them!
The retail edition of this is honestly such a poor release. The cardboard pagodas look awful, the cardboard characters are horribly difficult to tell apart and the insert can be tossed basically. An abject failure.
I have the retail edition and I think it's great, picked it up for £38, I prefer standees, haven't had an issue with identification. I have paid more for worse I will agree about the insert, it's non existent.
@@boardstupiduk the insert is only supposed to keep things in place in transport. You don't need it later and the shallower box saves the shelf space. This has been all considered and was a design choice but I haven't yet seen a design that makes everyone happy.
Indeed, I can barely fit everything back in the box which is my main issue. But I agree, there is no pleasing everyone, unless you go the bespoke insert route and then you're adding more cost, and no doubt people would complain about that too. I think it's a great product and I love the game!
@@boardstupiduk I have seen people complain about the Unsettled box & insert, which is fantastic for accessibility & usability, but makes the box bigger & an unusual shape.

Great video, would this game work well with 3 player count?
It works very well with 3
@@boardstupiduk Thanks a lot, much appreciated
