@Chief2112 I couldn't agree w/ you more. Eddie's rhythms kick so much ass. His leads are very chaotic and all over the place (I still like them), but his rhythms are so unique. One of my favorites is "Push Comes To Shove". The rhythm in that one is _SO_ good. "I'm the One' is one of my favorites by them. His lead _IS_ the rhythm in that one. It seems like Alex & Michael were having trouble keeping up with Eddie, he was playing so fast. Same with "Love is the Source".🤕👈😉 That's me after banging my head so much🤘

For me, David Lee Roth's vocals have so much personality, incredible delivery, so much creativity, gets down and dirty...there's no one else like him. Sammy has a 'better' voice in that it's more trained and controlled, he can belt out the notes and everything, but so can a lot of other rock lead singers. While his voice is recognizable he doesn't do anything more special with it than anyone else. You don't think, "Who is that guy, he's so interesting or mysterious or weird!', he just sounds like a great rock singer. DLR has that X factor that elevates him and that's why the majority of Van Halen fans like the albums with DLR on them vs Van Hagar.

Sammy has nothing on songs like this, and that’s why he’s been in the press constantly non-stop since Eddie died. He’s been scrambling to get his name back in the Van Halen camp as memorials get built in Pasadena with only the original four on it, and 99% of songs that come on the radio or a sporting event are Roth songs.

I think Mean Street is the center piece of this record. A really cool song on this record that is extremely different than anything else they've done is, When Push Comes To Shove. It's mostly played with a clean tone through the verses and has a very funky strumming rhythm, and the solo is very legato, ala Allen Holdsworth, who Eddie admired very much, and who I believe influenced this soloing style shown here. Please check it out!! 🙏

Mean Street is a masterpiece w/in the hard rock realm. To hard core Van Halen fans and guitarists, Fair Warning is one of the top VH albums. To get a sense of the Sammy era, my recommendation is to pick from the live album "Right Here, Right Now," and maybe the track "The Best of Both Worlds." I have seen VH countless times, and Sammy was a more consistent vocalist but the DLR era music was more aggressive , and when DLR was on (I saw them at the US Festival with 330 K + fans), the band's live performances were unmatched. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

You still haven't played Lex "Eruption", the short track that years before started the whole tapping revolution - then there is the long live video of a later performance. For D.L.Roth there are also tracks from his 2 albums with Steve Vai - like "Yankee Rose" with Vai's laughing guitar sound, "Shy Boy" with Vai and B.Sheehan doing unison tapping, "Knucklebones", or "Skyscraper".

Hi guys, you do need to watch David Lee Roth live with Van Halen [ and even his solo stuff live ] ... He wasn't just their lead singer, he was a performer who dominated the stage. His persona just as important as his vocals. He is a character, and a cheeky one at that. You need to see the performer and everything you thought about Van Halen will change. They entertained via rock music and put on a show more than a rock concert. Even the music videos are great fun as you see Diamond Daves personally shine. Great reaction to a brilliant track....and Dave was the best ... every time ! Byeee Jim X

Couple of points. You are right about VH music being something everyone can like. That is why they were known as the ultimate party band. Put their albums on at any party and everyone can jam. As far as DLR vs Hager goes, you don't have to pick. I was 10 when their 1st album came out in 78' so I was the perfect ages, 10 to 16, during the Roth years and then 17 to 28 during the years Hager was with them. I was, still am, a huuuge fan and I like them both. The style is different with each and I don't think a comparison is really fair. I saw them live with both singers. DLR in 84' and Sammy in 88' and both experiences were phenomenal in it's own right. The song you chose to react to, Mean Streets, is off of probably my favorite Halen album. There is a grittyness to Fair Warning more so than other albums. I hope you choose to delve well into VH's catalog. If your a fan of Malmsteen and Vai, then you should really enjoy Eddie!

Van Halen 1980 was the first rock concert I went to and lucked out with 3rd row tickets. I was a sheltered 14 year old but worked up the nerve to ask a boy to go with me -- my older sister had to drive us. I was trying to be cool and not let on how much I liked my date. But, my poor crush was forgotten when Dave came strutting out in white leggings riding low on the abs, shirtless with furry chest (before Ken-doll manscaping became a thing), and all that beachy blonde hair flying.😅 I would love more Van Halen!

I'm just an all around Van Halen fan , I love Roth Hagar and heck I even like the Cherone album. When you fall in love with a band you sometimes have to roll with the changing times and be grateful for the music they gave you.

I was 16 when I first heard this masterpiece of an album, then again with VH almost every album is good. I loved them all, and to think this is only the first track. It's great from beginning to end.The first Van Halen album from 1977 is still the best of the Roth era imo

Saw them in 79, Roth owned the stage and the event in my opinion, Sammy played a couple sets before Van Halen and he was also great, much prefer Sammy’s own stuff than his halen era , thanks y’all great having Lex back!

on this album, the song " one foot out the door" has one of Eddie's greatest guitar solo's, you guys have to check it out, never talked about, and the bass player Michael Anthony has a killer bass song on this album called, " Sunday afternoon in the park" killer bass song, all bass, you guys will be blown away.

It's hard to comprehend Eddie playing that groove in the practice room and Roth being able to put 'THAT' verse composition over top of it. Usually it's a soloist being so opposite of what is being played.

Great reaction! I always felt or sensed that Van Halen albums each had a different Tone to the music, but each song was totally different stylistically. Just like the two songs you’ve heard from this album, both had similar guitar tone, but totally different beats and rhythms. As you work your way through their catalogue, you will get something different every single time. Love your channel guys.

Great reaction to this amazing song. Edwards groove with Anthony and Al are on the game in this one. It moves you. And Roth is all over this it’s him in a nutshell. My favorite part of this song is right before the solo “Dance Baby”and then Eddie goes into that swing groove. And then the solo. It’s badass!

It's very fitting that Eddie Van Halen, the King, has pretty much been responsible for launching the TH-cam careers for reaction videos. I don't know if VH was the first reaction video, but I can undoubtedly say I never saw any music reaction videos before seeing a young black man react to Eddie's live solo. Since then, many new videos have popped up. And definitely, VH is THE most "reacted to" band.
Original Van Halen and Eddie are very deserving of this attention, since they revolutionized rock and roll.

My fave Van Halen track. Just happened to listen to it in the car ( less than half an hour ago ). Fair Warning is also my fave Van Halen album. I'm fine with the Sammy Hagar stuff. There are some really good tracks with him on vocals ( Poundcake, for instance ). BUT..... the David Lee Roth stuff is, by far, my favorite stuff by Van Halen.
