The word "corn" is even used in the Bible. Obviously since maize is a new world crop, it didn't exist in the ancient Middle East. However, wheat did, and the translators of the Bible, who were British, translated "wheat", as we know it, with the word "corn", because that's what THEY called wheat :)

Someone finally buys the place and wants to restore it, but a govt agent wanted certain modernization. And others he didnt. I understand looks are important, and cheap is frowned on. But to poo poo certian features out of hand. You can guess what some would say.

There is no way that a building permit would be granted, from my experience in the USA, with such a high watertable where a perk test is required. Poor drainage seems to be casually accepted in the UK but it is just a silent problem with manifold consequences. And for the life of me, I don't understand the concept of creating a glass barrier between the new and original structure, how it is beneficial visually or structurally

Listed buildings do not “get smashed down all the time”. It is a *profoundly* rare occurrence for a building, over 100 years old, to be purposefully demolished.
