As good as this episode of MCCTV is it barely scratches the surface; the property is 70+ acres and after the visitor gets saturated strolling through the inside collections there's a whole new world outside and in the back. Fantastic Collection. Met Mr. LeMay at his Annual Car Show a few times in front. He was an amazing man. He was very humble wearing his overalls and plaid shirt and enjoyed watching the visitors enjoy his collection of cars. Most people that came in did not even know it was him. I always Thanked him.😊
Harold passed away about a year after this aired. Rest In Peace sir, you preserved so many amazing autos that could’ve been lost if not for you. Thank you.

Something like the Barber Motorsports Museum in Alabama. Harold LeMay has left his mark on US History. Of course the LeMay family's plans for this museum must inlude culling his colletion down to the really important vehicles. Selling these surplus vehiles to other colleters and using these funds to establish the permenent Lemay museum. Good luck LeMay family, Harold LeMay was one of a kind. Thank you Harold LeMay.

I really like seeing all these different cars in one place. But as a car guy, it bothers me that they're just sitting there. That's the most admirable thing about Jay Leno's collection. He makes sure that they're all drivable so if he decides to drive one, all he has to do is unplug the battery tender and go. And he drives all of them. That being said, with a collection like this one. It would cost a fortune to keep them all ready to drive. And it would take twice the space to make it work so you could pull them in and out without moving 20 other cars
Most all the cars are treasures in running condition or restored. Until you see it, you have no idea how fantastic it truly is. These are not and should not be on the road with hoopties and beaters driving up next to them.
I can't imagine how difficult it would be to keep this many vehicles, let alone keeping them in drivable condition. Gasoline turning to varnish is just one of the issues. Fire hazard being another. They're better off just being displayed at some point.
Are you bothered that the Smithsonian's National Aeronautics and Space Museum doesn't fly the aircraft in their museum? Or the cars in the Henry Ford museum arent driven? Mr. Lemay's collection is a time capsule. If you are looking for a collectible driver, there is always The Barrett Jackson sales. Jay Leno has 180 cars in his collection, and the Lemay's have over 2400 in their collection, so in a year's time, you would have to drive over 6 cars per day.

So are these cars started up periodically? How do you know if a car sitting for a while won't degrade? Just curious. Maybe fire up each car every couple months? Fascinating!

I worked for him in the shop welding dumpsters. That was back in 1977/8. Nice guy, I worked afternoon-evenings. I remember he used to come in chat with everyone during our dinner break on the old bus that was our break room. 😀.
I’m so proud to live in Pierce County where Mr. LaMay has his collection. We wouldn’t have the Automobile Museum in Tacoma it wasn’t for LaMay. God Bless you and thank you for sharing it with us.
I went to the museum and was pleasantly surprised with it. The feature at the time was the James Hetfield Collection, to which I thought, who cares, who's that? Whoa, that guy has vision. And, he can play guitars, too. ;-)

I hope Detroit’s old car manufacturers buildings ,will one day be restored to house collection’s like this one. This unbelievable collection needs to be housed ,and appreciated for what the 20th century was evolving towards. I hope someone , like these people, will have that vision, for the future.
