I haven’t been excited by an artist in a LONG TIME. Then came Ren. He is an incredibly rare and special individual. This piece of ART, this performance piece, had me sitting in stunned silence the first time I heard it. Then I inexplicably and suddenly burst into tears. And I’m not a crier. Seems a long time since you mistakenly watched Violet's tale without seeing Jenny and Screech's Tale first. Do I remember correctly, you saying would check out more of Ren's work? Hope I have not missed any? I do recall you have your playlists set in that ghastly way of "generes" . Sorry to do it to you, mate, but that won't work for Ren. He will need a whole playlist of his own since each song encompasses many styles of music within its entirety. You did hear the reggae undertone, you will also hear much, much more if you make a point of delving into Ren's catalogue in earnest. When listening to Ren's songs, it pays to wait till the end of the video. There are often wee gems have been included. Also, listen to Ren's fans (Renegades) when choosing the next song to hear. They will lead you in the direction of the best particular video to watch or a particular order to see things in. His acoustic versions are often better than the official version, but it pays to hear the official first, then react to the acoustic as if it is a different song, as it will be. Not only is Ren a master of "One Take videos", but he often does "mash ups" of songs by other artists. Generally he will re write them musically, or change the words and keep partly to the original beat. However it is done, it is undoubtedly original and definitely brilliant. Ren was also in a Brighton (busking) band named The Big Push. If you like Ren's work, you will end up checking them out also. Best band the world never knew.
Yeah, it’s been too long since that reaction. I actually don’t have my list done by genre, but I do try to do multiple different genres when I’m in studio. It’d be easy to do just KPop and fun impressive indie artists, but I don’t want to pigeon hole myself too much. I’ll definitely check out The Big Push. I’m so in to this sound and his witty lyrics!

Good luck to you trying to put Ren into one of your genre lists😁 and the more you listen to him the more you'll understand why. I don't mean that he use different genres in the same song but his songs are all over the place in a very good way. Dozens of videos, no matter how much walking, running, dancing, acting, is being done, there is never a break in the camera. I know people want you to do Chalk outlines but like many others, agree that starting with him Busking in the streets of Brighton, and take the recommendations you’ve seen, and there will be no turning back and then if recomend going straight to “The Hunger”. A rap that is as impressive as it gets just so you can see his wide spread talented. He sings better than ANY rapper ever and raps better than ANY singer ever. And it’s his freaking story telling. Never does he use useless words. There is meaning behind every word, every time in his original stuff but his retakes of old song are always as good or better than original. Shit, listen to the Bob Marley one and you will shit yourself with how widespread his singing abilities are. I can not wait to go down this rabbit hole with you!

It's always fun to watch another person start down the Ren rabbithole. Nice job! Also, do not miss him busking with The Big Push. Most people start with "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" - the version where he's wearing red suspenders. One thing I would say is that the auto-generated lyrics are a useless distraction. They're just wrong way too often. Did you catch "Mustafa Lee's" instead of Mephistopheles? Seriously?! Plus, if there are words printed on the screen, your eyes are just drawn to them & you're not watching his entire genius performance. If you're having trouble with his accent or he's rapping way too fast, Ren always pins the lyrics & you can follow along on a 2nd device.
I’m usually pretty good at picking up the lyrics despite his unique cadence. So far he’s been rather easy to understand. I keep the captions on because other people have yelled at me for not doing it. 🤣 I’ll definitely check out his busking. Interesting reaction the spoken word part is a summary of a decade of his life and what he learned from the purgatory of his illness I noticed you have watched Violets Tale which is the last part of a trilogy of songs making a story The first two he is dressed differently in each He has somewhere in the region of 250 tracks all so different that they are a surprise each time. He does have some reggae style, soul, rap, hip hop, rock more dramatic etc Hope you investigate some more!

That is the ONLY trilogy that needed to be watched in order, there was only about 200 other songs he could of recommended and order didn't matter. I would very much recommend watching the "Tales of Jenny and Screech" full 13:30 minute version. Just re-watch Violet's tale again. You will pick even more the second time. I've watched 100's of reactions to it and caught so many small details. But by all means watch some of his other positive stuff first, I've seen many recommendations.
Ren went years misdiagnosed with bi polar chronic fatigue and depression he had they had him on meds for this that caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from meds he had a recording deal with Sony why working on his album he got stick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day it would take years before he would get right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he also has Mast cell activation syndrome he can only eat a few things because his body has allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has ADHD too he been in Canada past 2 years getting treatment he had to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head to help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 Ren play guitar bass drum piano produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap Ren does a lot of his video in one take and live

Seems a long time since you mistakenly watched Violet's tale without seeing Jenny and Screech's Tale first. Do I remember correctly, you saying would check out more of Ren's work? Hope I have not missed any?
I do recall you have your playlists set in that ghastly way of "generes" . Sorry to do it to you, mate, but that won't work for Ren. He will need a whole playlist of his own since each song encompasses many styles of music within its entirety.
You did hear the reggae undertone, you will also hear much, much more if you make a point of delving into Ren's catalogue in earnest.
When listening to Ren's songs, it pays to wait till the end of the video. There are often wee gems have been included.
Also, listen to Ren's fans (Renegades) when choosing the next song to hear. They will lead you in the direction of the best particular video to watch or a particular order to see things in.
His acoustic versions are often better than the official version, but it pays to hear the official first, then react to the acoustic as if it is a different song, as it will be.
Not only is Ren a master of "One Take videos", but he often does "mash ups" of songs by other artists. Generally he will re write them musically, or change the words and keep partly to the original beat. However it is done, it is undoubtedly original and definitely brilliant.
Ren was also in a Brighton (busking) band named The Big Push. If you like Ren's work, you will end up checking them out also. Best band the world never knew.

I actually don’t have my list done by genre, but I do try to do multiple different genres when I’m in studio. It’d be easy to do just KPop and fun impressive indie artists, but I don’t want to pigeon hole myself too much.

And if you haven’t heard it enough, this is a live video, one take video, that took 4 tries. But no real editing. He and his guitar are Micd up. He is the master of One Takes. Dozens of videos, no matter how much walking, running, dancing, acting, is being done, there is never a break in the camera. I know people want you to do Chalk outlines but like many others, agree that starting with him Busking in the streets of Brighton, and take the recommendations you’ve seen, and there will be no turning back and then if recomend going straight to “The Hunger”. A rap that is as impressive as it gets just so you can see his wide spread talented. He sings better than ANY rapper ever and raps better than ANY singer ever. And it’s his freaking story telling. Never does he use useless words. There is meaning behind every word, every time in his original stuff but his retakes of old song are always as good or better than original. Shit, listen to the Bob Marley one and you will shit yourself with how widespread his singing abilities are. I can not wait to go down this rabbit hole with you!

It's always fun to watch another person start down the Ren rabbithole. Nice job! Also, do not miss him busking with The Big Push. Most people start with "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" - the version where he's wearing red suspenders.
One thing I would say is that the auto-generated lyrics are a useless distraction. They're just wrong way too often. Did you catch "Mustafa Lee's" instead of Mephistopheles? Seriously?! Plus, if there are words printed on the screen, your eyes are just drawn to them & you're not watching his entire genius performance. If you're having trouble with his accent or he's rapping way too fast, Ren always pins the lyrics & you can follow along on a 2nd device.
I’m usually pretty good at picking up the lyrics despite his unique cadence. So far he’s been rather easy to understand.
I keep the captions on because other people have yelled at me for not doing it. 🤣

by now, I'm sure you know Ren's story of mis-diagnoses, incorrect treatments, etc.........I believe the Pig/Butcher, which appears in many Ren videos, represents Ren's opinion of incompetent or uncaring doctors and therapists........the discordant vocals and guitar are intentions, expressing Ren's internal turmoil, as do the wildly blinking lights.....many of the chords he played are the "Devil's Chords", banned by the medieval Catholic Church from "approved" music........thanks for your reaction........

Wait!.....how did you do part 3 (Violet's tale)? Where are parts 1 and 2. Part 3 made absolutely no sense without listening to part 1 and 2. Part 3 tied it all together in a bow. That is the ONLY trilogy that needed to be watched in order, there was only about 200 other songs he could of recommended and order didn't matter. I would very much recommend watching the "Tales of Jenny and Screech" full 13:30 minute version. Just re-watch Violet's tale again. You will pick even more the second time. I've watched 100's of reactions to it and caught so many small details. But by all means watch some of his other positive stuff first, I've seen many recommendations.
Ren went years misdiagnosed with bi polar chronic fatigue and depression he had they had him on meds for this that caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from meds he had a recording deal with Sony why working on his album he got stick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day it would take years before he would get right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he also has Mast cell activation syndrome he can only eat a few things because his body has allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has ADHD too he been in Canada past 2 years getting treatment he had to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head to help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 Ren play guitar bass drum piano produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap Ren does a lot of his video in one take and live

Haven't made it all the way through yet, but just a word to the wise, the youtube-generated captions will very rarely be accurate for his vids. Best bet is to check the comments on each song of his--he'll typically post the lyrics there.
