    Just ordered one. Wonder if it was in that batch.

    Interesting, the backplate of the saddle is made of metal by the sound it makes when placed into the assembly fixture.
    I bought a C17 model and the backplate is most definitely made of plastic.
    3 miles into a 100 mile ride my plastic one snapped with the Carradice saddlebag dragging on the rear tyre.
    Brooks recommends 3kg max load.
    So what's it supposed to be, metal or plastic??
    Doesn't say on Cambium details...

      Did you perhaps get the c17 recicled? The backplate on that version is made with liquid wood, a biopolomer.

      Hi Joe, the material of the rear spoiler of Cambium C17 saddles changes depending on models. It can be made out of plastic, aluminium or liquid wood. In the case of the standard C17 is plastic, while the video shows the C17 Special construction.

      My plastic one lasted about 30 miles. Sent it back.

      @@brooksengland Thank you for indicating the Special version for the metallic back frame. I ordered my first Brompton (not yet dispatched) and when upgrade the saddle now plan to order the C17 Carved Special. I will be riding upright at hopefully 65 degrees or more (H bar on the bike) and I read that the carved C17 offers a more comfortable seating surface than the standard for upright rider weights less of than 70kg.

    Why does the leather have springs but not the Cambium?

    • @brooksengland
      @brooksengland  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Developing a frame that includes springs would not be in line with our aim to improve riding comfort through the qualities of rubber. In fact, our goal has always been to develop a frame made of few reliable components, easily replaceable if necessary, to support the main feature which is vulcanised natural rubber. We're still at work to find new solutions in this regard.

    c17 Are all-weather seats produced the same way, what's the difference?

    • @brooksengland
      @brooksengland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Yes, all Cambium saddles are manufactured in the same way starting with the vulcanised natural rubber that is essential to make the saddle top. The main differences between the various models are the shape of the seat and the components employed. More precisely, the saddle shown in this video is a C17 Special, which differs from the standard version by its organic cotton top and aluminium components.

    Is the C13 made in the UK?

      All Cambium saddles are made in Italy in every single step of the manufacturing process.

    As my bike is a Lightweight Brompton, I would like a version made with titanium rails, so for now I use another - Italian, Selle owned product, a Selle San Marco Royal, racing saddle, with a leather cover! I also have leather on my frame and the stem post, for protection against scratches and handling. Finn. Denmark

      Hi Finn! If you're looking for a saddle with titanium rails, our option is the B17 Special Ti. Timeless comfortable and lightweight at the same time.
